Clean and smart

twistedwheelnut (Manchester) on Jan 29, 2024

Mostly, this is a good hotel, with a few Disney things thrown in. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. There are a few places to eat and drink. The quality was slightly better than I was expecting; certainly better than at a Disney park. Be aware that bars and restaurants shut quite early, I guess that's because it's a family resort. Disappointed that in this day and age, when we are trying to be more sustainable, Disney are serving food on disposable plates with disposable cutlery. Across the road is a nice bar, and also shops selling proper coffee. The beach is in a sheltered cove, with barriers to the ocean, so it felt very safe.

Overall great Hawaii getaway.

goduke2016 (Chicago, Illinois) on Jan 28, 2024

Overall great resort. We really appreciated the character experiences (as did our kids). The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The gym was great. The pools were terrific! Our kids had a blast. The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Just a few areas of improvement: 1. The food is not the best for kids (there was no place to get food like grilled cheese sandwiches, cheese pizza, etc for small kids). Additionally, it was difficult to get grab/go food (a must for people with small kids). 2. The rooms were not the most kid friendly. For example the dining table had an edge sticking out into the hallway that our son almost hit his head on several times. There were no good places in the rooms to change diapers. 3. The resort should work on better communication with guests. We had kids who nap during the day, and we had several phone calls from the spa and housekeeping that woke up our kids. Perhaps messages could be sent via text or the Aulani app? Overall however, great Hawaii getaway, and we hope to return if we are able to get a good deal on a two bedroom villa..

Mahalo Disney Aulani

teamguinness (North Andover, Massachusetts) on Jan 24, 2024

Great hotel, great staff, great food, great location, not a lot of negatives to Disney Aulani. We stayed 8 nights post Christmas through New Years in a 1 bedroom poolside room. Perfect room location on the ground floor walk out sliding door to the lazy river with quick access to Cafe Ulu. We highly recommend Cafe Ulu. Their food was very high quality, though pricey, and definitely recommend the refillable mug. We had a rental car and explored the island every day, but it was nice to come back to a great hotel in the afternoon. Olelo was our favorite restaurant. We went there multiple times for dinner without a reservation, a nice upscale, but casual patio, with live music and very good food. The beach is an amazing lagoon shared with the Four Seasons Hotel (so you know its good!) . I watched the sunset every night, treading water in the lagoon with the kids as the sun went down. Amazing location. Only negative is the focus on DVC sales. It wreaks of profiteering and cheapens the resort. Let the people relax and enjoy their vacation. The sales approach is gentle enough, but still has the feel of a used car lot. Other than that, we loved Disney Aulani. Will hopefully return someday.

Disney in Paradise!

ilovetotravel1995 (South Jordan, Utah) on Jan 23, 2024

Aloha! Disney magic Hawaiian style! Three words. It was fantastic! My husband and I took a 28th anniversary trip to the islands. Our very last night, we decided to splurge and do one night at Aulani to see what it was like. So worth it! We checked in early about 12:00 and our room was ready so that was awesome! Our room was immaculately clean and thoughtfully decorated Disney style. We had a partial ocean view and a beautiful, private lanai. Beds are SO comfy. This is true of the Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian Hotels in Anaheim too. Best night of sleep we had our whole trip. AC worked great. Bathroom is large and had a separate toilet area. Tub is huge! Plugs are plentiful and USB chargers. Big TV with casting available from any device. WiFi is included. We were going to rent a car but decided not too last minute. We did however ask about EV charges as we’re going to be renting an electric car. They had several plug ins free of charge. The beach was beautiful and so calm for kids and families alike. Plenty of chairs available. The pool areas look so fun and they were bustling with kids and families. We found a quiet pool off on the side which wasn’t busy at all and very shady. Lifeguards are at each pool and are very attentive. There are water refill stations so bring water bottles. Prices are typical for a resort and Disney. A kids meal is about $3 more than CA in the states. A pizza at Ulu’s is $20 but could easily feed 4 kids or 2-3 adults. We also were able to do a late check out the following day - which is just 1:00 hour later- and then we stored our luggage, and went to the spa. The spa was AMAZING! if you love spas and being pampered, Disney does a great job! You’ll love it! You also have an 60 min prior to your appointment to enjoy the spa amenities too. Everyone was so kind and professional. After our time at the spa, we took advantage of the Lounge which is a room you can reserve a time to shower and get ready for those taking a late flight like us. The lounge had just 2 showers, 2 bathrooms, and 2 sinks in the mens and womens locker rooms. There are also couches and tables to hang out while you wait for family to finish. There were probably about 10 people in the womens locker room when I was there so a bit crowded. I had to wait for a turn with the showers. The teens took a while! Plan on taking a quick shower, and then changing in the bathroom stall and getting out of there. It was crazy! But grateful they had the option. We ate a Roy’s and Monkeypod nearby for dinners. The staff is happy to take you in the golf cart too! Overall, we loved it! One of the best resorts we’ve ever been too! Crowded but Disney does crowds the best! If you want a quiet resort, this may not be it. The Four Seasons next door shares and beach with Aulani and it looked very chill. Kids and families are plentiful at Disney.

Disney Gem in Paradise

Excellent vacation resort with attention paid to the details. Our room was spacious and clean. The resort grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. We enjoyed spending our days lounging on the chairs at the beach. We also enjoyed eating at AMA AMA at sunset to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
