Family Experience Gem - Authentic Hawaii + Disney Magic

work2travelcouple (Orlando, Florida) on Jul 05, 2022

A Hawaiian experience is essential but when traveling with three kids, you want to ensure they have a robust outline of entertainment, food the way, space to be kids, and still manage the authenticity of your experience. Aulani was that. From the moment of our arrival, the service was stellar. The accommodation were relaxing, and the entertainment was perfect. The traditional components of Disney were there for the kids with authentic Hawaiian experience for the adults. Pools, food, etc make this a travel go to for families.

A Family Vacation Gem

nickolaoun (Orlando, Florida) on Jul 05, 2022

Loved every minute of our stay here. From the service, the pools, the food our family had a stellar vacation that will not be forgotten. It is worth the cost to experience a villa. The additional space was much needed for a family of 5.

Aulani 6 Time Champs

J G (Carlsbad, California) on Jul 04, 2022

Aloha, Welcome to our review of Aulani a Disney resort and spa. Last week we returned from a 10 night stay at Aulani. Aulani is our DVC home resort. Boy did we win here. DVC is okay, but Aulani is much better than Old Key West or basically anything in Flo-rida. Esp. with the weather in Flo-Rida. Hawaii has tropical weather and it can be breezing, however it is not down pouring on us as we wait to go down the tubes. Okay, if anyone reads this stuff anymore, as a many watch bloggers on YouTube, lets get to Aulani and Hawaii. We are a family of three two adults and one child under 12 and our residents is in the REAL OC in Cali. We leave from SD each ear and take a limo to the resort. It is a fun way to start the vacation and is only 60 more dollars than Charleys Taxi. One quick piece of advice if you are going to Hawaii you are not going to be cheap. Please note that in your budget. NOTHING IS CHEAP IN HAWAII and Aulani is not either. Aulani wins the introduction portion of the resort. We are always quickly greeted by bell services who take our bags as we begin the check in process. Check-in is what it is. You can download the mobile app for quicker check in, but I am old fashioned and like a small welcome chat and ask for some type of celebration pin. We stay Ocean View. There are several room options but we prefer Ocean View. The view is not over rated and if you get a room in the 50's you will have a better panoramic view of the resort and ocean. This year we were 1156 and it was an outstanding view. The room is on the smaller side, however if you are in a room for most of your vacation, then go somewhere else. So we deal with it and use the room for sleeping and small meals and IG photos opps. This year the resort was crowded, very crowded. Aulani did a decent job with the overflow and b/c we have a bit of a routine the crowds did not really affect us much. We do not fight with pool chairs in the AM and actually go to the beach in the morning. I know we are from SoCal but it is nice to go into water that is not crashing down on you all day every day. So we AM at the beach, grab two boogies from the resort. Sign our lives away, daily, and bring our tubes from the ABC store who will blow them up for you if you purchase the tubes at the store, around 12 dollars. The adults order two lava flows with a floater and the child gets her daily Mickey Ears Shave Ice. Around 1 we head back to the room for a quick bite and off to the pools, tubes, and lazy river. Around this time more chairs begin to open up around the pools and we are able to snag a spot. The pools are awesome and the tubes give you that little thrill fix you need. Again, it was crowded this year so we had to have patiences and wait a little longer than years past. Our child went to Aunties Beach house each day for a hour and a half. She is under 12, but close, she had a great time. Currently you have to wear a mask to enter and the times are only in the mornings or afternoons. We play by the rules and do not mind the mask requirement. It is the only place on the resort that asks you to wear a mask. So if you are mask sensitive this is NOT FOR YOU (pearl jam reference). FOOD!! So Aluani has kind of a food issue for us. We ate at Off the Hook many times, we did the character breakfast, had the take away pizza and ordered pool side lunches. Each was great, pricey but great. We are not a burger/fries/fried food/ type of family. We understand that carbs are not our friend and Aualni can carb you through ten nights. The prices are a little high, the character breakfast has a GREAT options. It is 45 per adult, but it has more of a local menu. My advice to Aulani would be to bring in local food trucks on Friday or Sunday to create more of a local flavor and support small businesses. This spot is where I think Aulani fails, bringing in local business either it be food or t shirts or crafts. That is me and has nothing to do with your stay. Overall Aulani is great way to have Disney in Hawaii. Is it worth it, that is up to you and your budget. Nothing Disney is cheap you can try to make it cheap, but that leads to yelling and all that stuffff. Aulani offers a room, with a water park and ocean in Hawaii. What else could you need. Please be advised on the following: look for a rental car months in advance, respect the island, abc store is your friend, target, costco, foodland, Mcdonalds, safeway, canes are about a ten minute drive from Aulani, and please do not play your music on the beach. No one wants to hear your bud light crack and your music playing loudly in Hawaii, save that for Flo-rida. It is very crowded, people are spending money, inflation recession not at Aulani. Rainbow reef was so crowded we had to wait. We do purchase length of stay at Rainbow reef. It gets us access to the reef, as well as snorkle gear to take to Pirates Cove or other spots on the island. Just as long as we have it back by 5pm. Go with an Aloha state of mind and enjoy your lava drinks. I would look into purchasing the popcorn bucket the drink cup. I think both might be a bit under 40 but it is nice to have access to those two little treats. Drinks: Beer is 9 Lava flow with floater 17 Resort Cup is like 20 plus Food: Take away pizza is about 22 Onion Rings 16 Fries 13 Kids meal 12 Sandwich 20 Options range from 19-30 per meal Rental car 580 for 8 days Mickey Shave Ice 5.25 Mahalo and Enjoy!!!

A true 5 star "magical" resort

Cynthia H (Pekin, Illinois) on Jul 03, 2022

We spent two nights here after visiting other islands. We wish we would have stayed longer. The lobby makes quite the statement! You just know you are someplace special. We had a deluxe studio with a standard view of the mountains. Our room was very quiet. There was just enough room to relax. The AC worked great. Multiple shower head options in the shower. This resort is big. I'm not sure we even visited every pool while we were there. I highly recommend making all reservations ahead of time. The luau is impressive with good food and plenty of activities for the kids. My only complaint is that it's hard to find chairs by the pool past 10 AM. However, Disney has definitely outdone themselves with this property in Hawaii.

Fun place to spend time on Oahu!

leah b on Jun 27, 2022

We spent a short 3 nights here. I enjoyed that they offer activities all day and you can sign up throughout the day for making ears, ukulele lessons, star gazing, hula lessons, and more! The lazy river was my favorite place to hang out. I loved the warmth of the water and the fact that I could go without a tube to soak in the water and float down the river. I am pleased they had life guards to remind guests to adhere to the rules. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. I am pleased they had our name on the TV when we walked in. The food was great and easy to access. I like that they offer walk up windows, sit down restaurants, and grab and go. They offer a refillable cup that you can fill as many times as you want during your stay. We swam in the cove. The water was warm and clear. I recommend the star gazing event. It is led by a NASA engineer and he used a laser to point at the stars and then showed us on the telescope. The scope was clear to see the star and craters on the moon. Out of all of our stays in Hawaii, they offer the best ukulele lessons and give you cards to take up to remind you of the chords. You can rent a uke at the activities center.
