Quick 3-day stay in Puerto Escondido

luigivalencia39 (Union City, California) on Jul 28, 2021

Posada Real Puerto Escondido was a good choice during our stay on the Oaxacan coast. The hotel is well situated in the quiet neighborhood of Rinconado, a short walk (or a very cheap taxi ride) to the famous Playa Carrizalillo. For the price, the hotel affords you a free delicious breakfast buffet that changes its menu every morning, plus all-you-can-drink beverages day and night (you name it, they have it). The rooms are a nice size, and we got to secure a corner room with a view of the ocean. The rooms are well sanitized and refreshed every day. The hotel boasts 2 sets of pools: one by the lobby, and one by the beach which is about a 5-7 minute walk down. Beach-side cottages also offer the comfort of lounging next to the waves (although the water may not be recommended for swimming due to the huge waves). Right next door is Playa Bacocho, where every afternoon at 5pm the conservation group Vive Mar helps release baby turtles by the beach (and you can participate in it for only a mere 100 pesos). Trips to other parts of Puerto Escondido are a short taxi ride away, and the front desk is always helpful to get you a taxi right away. WiFi especially in the room proved to be a huge challenge though. We attempted to connect to the network ao many times, but to no avail, so when we didn’t feel like usinf our own mobile network’s data service, we just went to the lobby area and used the lobby’s WiFi. All in all, I think Posada Real gives one a really good bang for their buck. For the amenities offered, it did make our stay somewhat worthwhile.

Loved this Place

We stayed at Posada Real for a long weekend and liked the resort very much. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. The resort Is located right on the coast and guests have access to Coco’s Beach Club right next door. It’s a nice place to lounge with drinks on the beach or by the pool. The resort is also close to town. It’s just a pleasant 10-15 minute walk. We would definitely stay here again.

A overall nice place to stay

I have just completed my stay at the Posada Real Hotel. Overall the experience is very pleasant. I am vegan so I did text the hotel before my trip to find out about their food options. The daily breakfast buffet has plenty of fruit and a few vegan dishes like beans and cooked veggies. I also requested an early check-in. The general manager granted my request and allowed my all-inclusive package to start as soon as I arrived at 10 am vs usual 2 pm. The general manager came over to greet me even though it was his day off so that was very nice of him. My room type was the one with a terrace and an ocean view. It was a very nice, bright room with everything I needed including a safe (management, please add an in-room safe to the list of amenities available in the room). My room was on the ground floor but the terrace is fully enclosed so a family with small children can safely let them play outside. The grounds are nice. Food during lunch and dinner is basic. I only had lunch once which is offered at the Coconut Club, but the food was cold and tasteless. So, I suggest the hotel does something about that. Overall, the staff is very professional. Not everybody speaks English. The hotel offers a special dinner a few times a week that requires a sign-up. I did not try it since there weren’t any vegan options and I ate out most of the nights. The hotel invites a very, very nice band every Tuesday and Thursday night. They are Italian and sing in many languages. They were such a treat! Food service overall is mediocre. There is no alcohol served for breakfast, so I did miss my usual morning vacation mimosas. :) In fact there is no sparkling wine at all offered at the resort. The Coconut Club is older. The drinks selection is limited, so is the food selection. I liked the VillaSol club which is right next door to the right. It’s 200 pesos per person to get in and it becomes a credit towards food and drink purchases. The grounds of the Villa Sol club are very nice and they offer nice food, drinks, massages. There are a few ping-ping tables too. You need to either bring your own towels or rent for 50 cents and leave your ID as a collateral. The ocean is swimmable on calmer days and very clean since very few people go into the water. The beach is practically empty. The water can be rough, so be careful. I am a good swimmer but I would not attempt to go into the water every day. I did walk over to the Coral Beach once as well. It’s a 5 minute walk from the Coconut Club to the left. There are some rocks along the path but you can walk around them. The Coral Beach is nice but you might consider brining your water shoes. There are other beaches in PE like Carrisalillo and Manzanilla that are much calmer than Bacocho or Coral Beach. Turtle release place is right on the beach pass Villa Sol club and they do it every day at 5 pm. I would stay at the Posada Real Hotel again. I would purchase a daily breakfast option but most likely eat lunch and dinner out. There are many options available within a walking distance from the hotel. El Nene restaurant was excellent. I did a few day tours and a night tour of bioluminescence which were fun and educational. This was my first time in Puerto Escondido. I fully enjoyed my stay and would love to go back sometime in the future.

Beautiful hotel, excellent service

If you’re visiting Puerta Escondido - STAY HERE! The beach here is perfect. The service was amazing, the staff go above and beyond for you! The beach club was also phenomenal. Location is great, not far from other hotspots in the Escondido area.

Stay away from it

osolemio10 (London) on Mar 05, 2020

The hotel service is atrocious ! Sheets were dirty. Shower mouldy. The walls in the room are so thin that we could not sleep because of the next door client snoring like a bear. The food is scarse, poor quality, badly cooked. The pools are big but I could see rings of grease on the surface. Nobody speaks a word of English . Shower is hot or cold. I ended up having a cold shower not to be scolded . Good luck then!!!
