Semi all Inclusive

gailmY401EC on Dec 24, 2022

Was just there Dec. 5 - 20, this was our second time there. The resort is NOT all inclusive anymore, they call it “Semi Inclusive” now. The only thing not included is the specialty restaurant. The food in the buffet and Cocos beach club was very good and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are in desperate need of some updates and the beach club is in need of new umbrellas plus a greater number of umbrellas, there is not much shade around the pool and the hard wood chairs on the beach are rather uncomfortable. The beach is very nice. We found it odd the bar closed at 10:30....a little early.

Very Basic Room and Food

Lori G (Kingston, Canada) on Dec 22, 2022

The hotel property is beautiful, amazing views, saw whales going by, beach club is beautiful too. The room is very basic and a little rough around the edges, at least by North American standards. Everything is older and showing wear, just a little banged up. The amenities were sparse, only 2 hangers in the closet, VERY old towels. The food situation was odd too, slightly different snack menu at the hotel vs the beach club, and some pretty wacky hours for availability. Drinks were ok, food was hit and miss, speciality nights were better, Italian and Asian nights were good. The buffet is very limited and the quality was MEH. The staff were good but they seem to bounce them around a lot so you never really got to know them well. Would I go back? Probably not. Did I enjoy my stay? Of course, it's Mexico!

Exquisite setting..poor food

tgusdorff (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Dec 14, 2022

First of all the grounds are super wonderful. Lots of greenery and everything is,kept up perfectly The beach club, about a,3 minute shuttle, ride or 6 minute walk is,also very beautiful..it has,a,huge pool and sits right on the beach..which is very uncrowded The rooms are clean and well sized. We had a great balcony. Hot water was,not always there. The really negative part is,the food. We only ate breakfast and had, snacks here but the, food, was terrible Even though., we would come, back for the setting and beach

Shabby on the inside, incredible on the outside!

gillianmccormick85 (Loughton, United Kingdom) on Nov 02, 2022

The room was very shabby and didn’t feel very clean. There was damp on the ceiling and The towels and sheets were more brown than white. Aircon worked well and beds were comfy enough. However, the grounds and views from this place are amazing! Short walk to a beautiful beach and the turtle release. The pool area and reception areas are nice and the rooms with balcony’s looked nice (from the outside )

Beautiful but everything is scarce

Martin D on Apr 21, 2022

First: the grounds are gorgeous. The building is clean and well-maintained, and the beach club is very pretty and on an uncrowded beach. Rooms are cramped but pleasant and very clean. But an "all-inclusive" resort should make you feel at ease amongst its abundance. And Posada Real utterly fails at this, introducing scarcity to make routine tasks stressful. The food: it's Ok quality. I'm not picky but it's tasty and appropriately Mexican. The drinks taste good. But there's a complex schedule of what food and drinks are available where, and we had a way of always finding ourselves in the wrong place for what we wanted, and in some cases with no food at all. For example, at 5:30pm no food can be had at the beach club! There are three bars at the hotel but at most one is open at any time. Inevitably, there are long lines for food and drink and that serves to ration your access. Towels: there is a towel accounting system. But to get and return towels you're often using the front desk, which is understaffed and usually dealing with a complicated check-in. At the beach club towel people disappear at inopportune times. Again, long lines for a very simple task. Shade: In the middle of the day there is no shade to be had at any of the pools or on the beach. At the beach club, there are some umbrellas but those are claimed early. I learned to show up a couple of hours before my family to await an umbrella to be free. Staff said there were no extras. Just buying 10 or so more umbrellas would greatly improve the experience. Or just build some shade! Internet: It's 2022 and wifi doesn't work in the rooms at all. In the lobbies, it works maybe 60% of the time. Staff were indifferent to my complaints. Bandwidth is terrible: to download a movie for the plane took a couple of hours sitting in the lobby.
