10/10 recommend--clean, well stocked unit with extra large lanai
Grace B on Feb 15, 2026
Our family of 5 stayed in 3-404 rented via Rentals Maui for two weeks and 100% recommend. We can't wait to come back. It's an updated condo central to everything we wanted to do on Maui--very clean, well stocked and roomier than the photo's made it seem. It's a top story condo with the best parking spot right near the elevator. The beds were very comfortable--even the pull out couch which had extra deep memory foam mattress--all beds made with high quality cotton linens and bathrooms stocked with enough towels. It has AC splits in every room but we only needed them a couple times as we stayed in February the trade winds kept us comfortable. Honestly we spent most of our time outdoors or on the extra large lanai which had pool and ocean views down a lovely landscaped center courtyard with swaying palm trees. During the winter, the sun sets right in front of the Lanai. Now that I am back in freezing temps--I dream about being back on that Lanai. Kamaole Sands fronts a great lifegaurded beach and it took us only 2 minutes from the condo to the sand. The Lanai closet was packed with everything you could need for beach days. And the kitchen was well stocked. I really hate when rental kitchens don't even have salt and pepper--but this one was well stocked. It had Olive Oil, vinegar, soy sauce, a ton of spices, sugar and starter packs of coffee, a selection of teas as well some pasta, ramen, rice etc. Good restaurants and shops walking distance (Cocconuts, Freds Taco Tuesdays and 808 Gelato were a hit with the kids). Power went out during a day of heavy rain and one of the kids found flashlights, umbrellas and even rain coats. We made good use of the laundry machine cleaning our clothes before we left, and Rentals Maui allowed us late check out since our flight out wasn't until 9pm. 10/10 recommend this unit, the rental mgmt company, this complex, this beach and this part of the island.
Enjoyed a wonderful stay in Unit 2 207 Kamaole Sands
MomVL (Chilliwack, Canada) on Dec 23, 2025
2 207 is a quiet unit at one end of the building so there's windows on two sides of the unit making it nice and light indoors. It was right beside the stairs going down to where our car was parked. We never heard any neighbours unless we were on our lanai. We did hear lots of roosters early in the morning so take earplugs if you want to sleep in. It has a peekaboo view of the ocean and a very large lanai which was lovely! We loved having two full bathrooms since our daughter came along and slept on the pullout couch. It wasn't the comfiest but it worked. The Master Bedroom King Bed did not have cotton sheets - my pet peeve is that 100% polyester microfibre sheets should be banned, but there's AC in the bedroom which helped. The other AC in the livingroom worked well too and wasn't noisy, but it did blow hot air onto the lanai so we didn't use it a lot. We were glad they provided beach chairs and spent lots of time on Kamaole 3 beach which is just a short walk across the street. Snorkeling between Kam 2 & 3 was great, but not as clear as we would have liked since December is quite wavy. There was always lots of room on the beach for everyone. We didn't talk to any staff except the person at the front desk - it's manned 24 hours but all they do is collect $40 when you arrive and give you a parking pass. There's lot of room to park. It's a huge resort with lots of BBQs and grass. We didn't use the pool, gym or other facilities, but they looked well maintained and never crowded. There is always staff gardening or cleaning the BBQ's which are right below the lanai. The kitchen came with oil and some spices but no coffee, tea or sugar, so bring your own. There was lots of shampoo, conditioner etc. for the bathrooms and the showers worked well. We rented directly through Sunny Maui Vacations and they were great. Everyone else charged a lot more, so we felt we got very good value for what we paid. We'd stay there again and recommend it.
Fantastic place

Great location. We have only stayed in building 1 and 10. Both locations were fantastic. We have stayed here 4 times and each visit was great. Kamoale beach park 3 is right across the street. Enjoy the sunsets from the park. We felt very safe here. The grounds are well kept; great pool/hot tub areq. Very nice BBQ areas!!
Another GREAT STAY at KAMAOLE SANDS!

Just returned from another fantastic stay at Kamaole Sands. We enjoyed a lovely view of the ocean, fountains and gardens from the unit we rented in building 1. We’ve stayed in building 5 & 10 and those views have been great too! The unit we rented was clean, upgraded, had ac (without a timer) and was well cared for. We appreciated having a washer and dryer in our unit as well as a full kitchen to save on dining out every meal. There are nice BBQ’s for guests to use in the central courtyard. My favorite bonus of staying at Kamaole Sands is the free live music and hula on Wednesday afternoons. Hawaiian musician, Anthony Pfluke, is outstanding! Other property amenities include: pool, hot tub, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and gym. Parking is ample & free. Each condo is privately owned, so furnishings & ac (or lack thereof) varies. Condos can be rented through a variety of property managers as well as Airbnb, VRBO, etc. Over the years we have used PMI Maui, VRBO & vacation-Maui.net and have been happy with each of our experiences! Family that we traveled with rented through Castle and had an unfortunate experiences with damaged appliances and a refrigerator that quit working (per staff, Castle knew the fridge was having problems and rented the unit anyway!) Having been in 5 different units over the years that Castle managed, I probably won’t ever book through them. Overall, Kamaole Sands is a beautifully landscaped complex that is well taken care of & undergoing more upgrades! The tennis & pickleball courts have been resurfaced and new BBQs installed . Beautiful new security gates were being put in during our stay. Kamaole Sands is across the street from the Kamaole 3 park & beach, staffed by lifeguards. There’s a fantastic beach walk across the street along the coastline that leads south to Wailea. Restaurants are within walking distance, though a car is handy for staying in Kihei. TIPS FOR BOOKING: I prefer to select the individual unit we rent. Things I look for: view, location (I prefer the inner courtyard buildings 1,2,3,5,6, and 10, air conditioning in both the living area and bedroom(s) without timers (some owners install timers due to the high power cost), upgrades and reviews. I also look at cancellation policies. If a unit is listed on VRBO or Airbnb and shows a property manager, by booking directly through the property manager’s website often there is a savings.
Lovely hula on Wednesday

We stayed with family here and had a nice time. We enjoyed the BBQs, pickleball and accommodations. But what was a real treat was the hula on Wednesday. Four of us went up for the lesson! We had a great time. This hula lesson was a highlight of staying at Kamaole Sands.
