Great Condo & Location

OtisMadison (Madison, Wisconsin) on Oct 21, 2024

We stayed in Sugar Beach unit #618 from Oct. 5 - 14, 2024. I am a fairly tough critic, but found this stay to be delightful in almost every way. The condo was impeccably clean, particularly the floors, countertops, bathroom, etc. There was no built-up grime, mold, or mildew. The view from the top floor was tremendous. We found it very quiet, even from the road on the backside. No trouble sleeping. The condo was very well equipped and we had every utensil we needed. The elevators were well maintained and clean. The pool area is spacious and while there were children, it was not overrun with children. The grass beachfront area, while small, was just fine for us. The grill area was very clean with enough (gas) grills to go around. The location, in north Kihei, I thought was perfect for traveling just about anywhere on the island. We shopped often at the Safeway supermarket, which was only a few minutes away on the highway bypass. During our stay, we traveled to Wailea, Lahaina, Hana, the Waihee Ridge Trail (Wailuku), the Haleakala Summit, and the Pipiwai Trail (Kapahulu). It was all a wonderful experience. For location, amenities, cleanliness, and price, Sugar River 618 was perfect for us.

Location close to everything. Penthouse #20 was a beautiful airbnb with Mike.

We don't usually rent airbnbs but tried this one out located in the Sugar Beach Resort as the location was perfect for us, far Northern part of Kihei, nice pool area with grills. Room 620 oceanfront penthouse was beautiful and Mike, the owner, treated us like friends. Large, free parking. Lovely beach in a bay.

Good location for exploring the island

Alecia91401 (Los Angeles, California) on Aug 12, 2024

This resort is in a great location if you plan to visit several areas around the island. It's central and located near the highways for ease of use. The condo we stayed in was pleasant enough for our needs and had newer appliances. The ocean view was great. This area of the island however, was quite windy -- and I mean hurricane windy - during our stay. Not sure if this is the norm. The resort has an activities office that seemed to have decent deals for day trips and cheap snorkeling gear to rent. Everyone was friendly. The beach in front of the resort was nice as well.

Sugar Beach - fine but

JC505 (Ennetbaden, Switzerland) on Mar 26, 2024

Just not our cup of tea. That being said, the other 12 members in our party loved everything about this place, and that comforted us. Now for us, we hate sleeping with a blowing a/c even on low, but the road noise early morning was just too disturbing. The wind itself was also great, but that is out of the unit’s control. What we miss is that Vacasa cleans out the entire flat so one must bring basic essentials. It truly is a shame what we left or other’s as well that was tossed. I understand that it is a liability issue, but it is truly such a waste and does not fit with our time anymore. Other than this, the unit itself was comfortable and well layed out as the pictures represent. We are not fans of tall bar chairs and tables, but understand as it allows for a view out to the incredible bay and whales and light waves. The location cannot be beat, as it is right in the middle between everything outside of Kihei that you may want to visit. Is it a place we would return to. The price/value and location are very good.

VRBO fiasco

Sam K on Mar 11, 2024

VRBO has been the worst channel to book a reservation. The day of arrival I get a missed voicemail that I did not sign a rental agreement. I tried to call back but the “host” is closed. I tried VRBO and they try to call the host but can’t. So now I’m sleeping on the street. Finally after 8:30 pm they get someone to email me the rental agreement for me to sign and then I get my arrival instructions at 9:47 pm. Now getting a receipt to bill my company (business travel) was another headache. Expedia help center sent me to VRBOu, who sent me to the host who were again closed. It took me a few hours to get my receipt.
