Expensive hotel with less service

Have great pool. Activities were too busy can't get into the activity. Hotel arts collections were great and enjoyed and appreciated. Interval of trams were too long and boat service were only few hours.

Good, but a few disappointments

If you book through Costco, be aware that there is no shuttle to and from the airport, as advertised. Don't waste your time and energy looking for it when you land! Have other plans arranged or skip right to a taxi. Apparently, according to the resort concierge, there used to be a shuttle, but not anymore. We landed after a full day of travel, shuttle papers in hand, waiting, walking around, calling the phone number of the shuttle listed on the Costco papers, and nothing. We ended up taking a taxi that cost $80.00. This is not the end of the world, but really annoying when it is hot, you've been travelling all day, and walking around with a ton of luggage and kids, and trying to find this shuttle, which turns out to not exist. It would have been nice to know beforehand! The resort is a beautiful place. It is clean, and there is lots to do. Best for families with kids. The resort is huge, but there are trams and a boat taxi to get you to and from. It is quicker to walk though. Bring walking shoes! You'll need them. Linens and pillows were clean and comfortable. And all staff I encountered were great. There is shopping nearby within walking distance (about 25 min), but a shuttle would have been really nice for the walk back once we had bags to carry. A 25 minute walk was great for us, but once we had bought some things, especially groceries, it was a hassle to walk back. Might not work for everyone to walk. We did the luau, and paid for the upgraded seating, Ali'i seating. In the booking, it says this includes priority seating, an upgraded shell lei, and a box of cookies. We didn't get any of that. We waited in the same line as everyone else to be seated until nearly the end of the line, where the line finally split into the upgraded ticket holders vs. general admission. Then we were seated before general admission ticket holders, but beyond that, no difference. The food is buffet style, so no difference there. We didn't even get to go first. Another line there. What did I pay extra for? Nothing as far as I can see. I stopped by the front desk to let them know, and they were very nice about it, but basically took my name and I never heard anything else back. No refund, no sorry, no nothing. Honestly, the Luau was OK, but for what it costs, I would tell anyone to spend the money on another experience instead. There are many other options/excursions/experiences that are more worthy. The food was so so, buffet style, the drinks were fine, but hardly any alcohol in them. The performance was ok, but sort of corny, and I wish told more about the Hawaiian culture and history. There was a bit of that, but not much. The beach, A Bay, is an even shorter walk than the market. It is beautiful, not too crowded. We saw a sea turtle and a pufferfish. There is a nice path to follow. There's bathrooms and showers to rinse sand off shoes. There are no food vendors or anything, so pack your own. Overall, we had a great time. The resort is great, but I hope my words might save someone the minor hassles that we experienced.

Enjoyable vacation spot

I love this resort. The views are beautiful and the sunsets were photo worthy each evening. My children loved being able to see the dolphins, turtles, fish, and crabs. The staff was kind and attentive.

Been here many times over 9 years things have really gone down hill.

I have been a Hilton customer for a long time. I am even a diamond member. To be understanding covid has taken a toll on everyone. Not enough workers, people calling in sick etc. but it’s still no excuse for poor policy making. Here is an example. If you use the Hilton app, you can check in before you get there and get a digital key. Bypassing the front. Great idea, I like it. But then you get there, go to your room and decide to bring the kids to the pool. Only to find out you need wrist bands. The sign says see pool attendant. The pool attendants do not carry wrist bands. You then have to walk 15 mins to get the wrist band which is only for the pool. But the person on chat for Hilton app says you have to where wrist band 24/7 even when you sleep. Lol. If they ask that of the guests, they should copy outrigger that has a wrist band that can open your door, and it’s stretchable so you can take it off when you get to your room. The Hapuna beach resort Marriott at least has the life guards equipped with risk bands. Second issue which is really a health violation. The main pool has a whole filled with sewage near it, which was sooo putrid if gave me a head ache. I called when we got there and they said someone would clean it up. Today it is still there. I have a picture if it will let me post it. If my kid accidentally played in that mess he would have guaranteed gotten sick with a fever. Third issue. As a Hilton diamond member you are supposed to get free upgrades to a suite if available. There was one available but they wanted to charge an extra fee. That’s not what the definition of complimentary. So in this case they don’t even follow there own policy. It’s really sad, I have come here 1 to 2 times a year for over 9 years. I really like this place. But sadly will not return. I recommend Hapuna Beach resort. It’s more expensive but you will not feel ripped off. Also the Hilton kings Land is better a little more also but you get for what you pay for.

Highly recommend for a family vacation

The lobby is scented of plumeria and it instantly greets you. They provide you with 1 wristband for your stay. We were in the Palace Tower. The tram runs on the same speed as walking, but it is nice to be able to sit after a day of exploring and playing in the sun. There was lots to do at the resort. I wish they offered the classes throughout the day. We were out in the morning and back in the afternoon and evening. That would be a great time for lei making or ukulele lessons. However they were only once a day when we were out exploring. I wish the pools were heated. The pools were great, but cold. Even at night, the pools were cold. Our room was huge and had a walk in closet where we put all of our luggage, a huge sink area and a separate toilet and shower room. Our room had a patio that led to a grass area to play catch and see the Nene. I wish they had a walk up counter for quick, fast food. Everyone was order and wait at a table. If you go, be sure to eat a Nui and order the Side Bread! So yummy!
