Extremely Disappointed – A Frustrating Experience at What Should Have Been a Great Stay

We recently stayed at La Fiesta Americana Los Cabos for a wedding, and unfortunately, the trip began with an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience that has completely overshadowed any positives. Due to unexpected weather conditions, our flight to Cabo was diverted, delayed, and eventually canceled mid-route. From the moment we landed at the alternate airport, I made multiple attempts to contact the hotel to update them, but was left on hold and ultimately hung up on—twice. I sent an email to the front desk explaining the situation and received confirmation that our reservation had been updated and that there would be no issue upon our arrival the next day. After 30 hours of travel and rerouting through Mexico, we finally arrived—only to be told we owed the full cost of our original stay. When I spoke with the front desk, they did remove a “no-show” charge for the first missed night and we paid for the remaining three. However, upon returning home, I was surprised to find that the no-show fee had still been charged to my credit card. What followed was some of the poorest customer service I have ever experienced. Guest Services offered no flexibility, no understanding, and no solutions. They simply repeated that the no-show charge was policy—despite the fact that the delay was completely outside of our control and we had made every effort to communicate with the resort in real time. To make matters worse, we were told that if we refused to pay, the fee would be passed on to the bride and groom due to the room block—adding unnecessary stress to their special occasion. We travel often and have stayed in numerous resorts around the world. We’ve never encountered such rigidity or lack of empathy. Had we simply not shown up without notice, I would understand the charge—but that was far from the case. We tried everything in our power to communicate and still were penalized. While the resort itself was enjoyable, this experience has ensured we will never return to La Fiesta Americana, and we will actively discourage friends and family from doing so. For the cost of one night, the resort has lost not only our future business, but the positive word-of-mouth we would have otherwise shared. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement.

Armando, Manases, and Angel were the best servers we’ve ever had! Super attentive and we never had an empty glass the whole time. Absolutely incredible service every morning. Excellent service was easily the best part of our trip. Rounding off a beautiful trip in Mexico!

Armando at Vina Del Mar was the best server we’ve ever had. Never missed a beat. Knew what we needed before we asked. Fabulous service. Beautiful grounds. Our room was kept clean and organized for us. So many extra touches. We will definitely be back!!

If you’re looking for beautiful views and great food, this is the place!! The view of the ocean in the morning is amazing and the staff here is very kind and hospitable. Our host Martín was excellent and very friendly. When our food came out it didn’t last long lol it looked too good and tasted even better ??
