If you are a hetero meat-eater, you’ll probably love this place. If you’re a vegetarian gay couple, expect to have VERY limited food options and get ready for some discriminatory behavior.
Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful -especially Alma at the breakfast buffet and Leobardo at the front desk (actually he’s a sort of Jack-of-all- trades). The rooms are spacious and well-cleaned. The AC worked great. The bed is comfortable. The pools are clean and the grounds are well-maintained. The quiet pool was very relaxing and there was little spillover of noise from the more active pool.
the food is a real disappointment. All venues struggle to accommodate vegetarians, I know. But other resorts do a better job than Marquis. Salad, guacamole, pasta, and lots of black beans are pretty much it. After five days it was just too much of the same thing. At the July 4th event the manager and chef were very kind to get food for us since the buffet was hamburgers and hot dogs. Too bad it was yet another plate of pasta.
A shout-out to the coffee shop, however, for great drinks, vegetarian panini, and tasty desserts. They did a great job!
the most irritating part of the stay of course was the not-so-hidden anti-gay vibes. And we are NOT flamboyant or loud people. First it took more than ninety minutes for our room to “be ready,” when others who arrived after we did were shown to their rooms right away. And our room was a standard ocean-view room. Nothing special. The pool staff was wary of us from the start but on the day we arrived late and could not sit in the main line of loungers right next to the pool, we were actively and obviously ignored. The waiters made eye contact and walked on by. On our last night, we asked to be added to a table with another couple (not gay) we’d befriended, only to be told there was no room. We saw our friends at dinner at a table for four, with two empty spots. And another guest who didn’t have a reservation got seated immediately. Individually none of the incidences would have been much of a red-flag, but collectively it felt that we were not the most welcome guests.
Unfortunately we won’t be back. And our advice- if you’re gay, stick to Puerto Vallarta. It is much more enjoyable and accepting.

Beautiful resort with breathtaking views. My family and I really enjoyed our stay. More of a chill relaxing resort which was perfect for us. Staff members are really nice, especially Azucena one of the managers. She was amazing! Viridiana and Cesar also were amazing and made all the resort activities so much fun! Highly recommend staying at this all inclusive resort.

I can not rave enough about the Marquis!!!. This is a very romantic and quiet resort so if that is what you are looking for this is perfect! My husband and I had to change travel plans to cabo last minute due to a cyclone, we were a little upset at first but that changed within minutes of our arrival. Every staff member we had encountered from the moment we checked in to Check out gave stellar service. They truly helped us get the best out of our trip. They do Only have one main bar but drinks were always delicious and made with fresh purées and ingredients. They have a few restaurants that are still all inclusive but require reservations due to COVID restrictions. I do recommend booking the reservations upon your arrival if there are any you are intrigued to try (they are all delicious). I also do recommend booking spa services in advance too as they can be quick to fill up. All in all the marquis made our anniversary memorable and romantic. We can not wait to be back.

Anllee, Paty and Sebastian took care of us for 7 days. The ice and frozen coffees were amazing, the gluten cake was great and the service was awesome which kept us coming back!!????My empty cup speaks for itself??
What about the food options?

Everything from the staff to rooms to accommodations were awesome. The only reason not a 5 was the lack of food options. The food choices were not the best either. Even with the restaurants that were open we could never get a reservation because they did not have “space” but created space for those venues. When they get that space this place should be on everyone’s bucket list!
