Overall good experience
Morgan H on Feb 04, 2023
I recently visited the Marquis with my family of 6. Greeting us at breakfast every morning, Adrianna was a delight. Jair Adame Ignacio C. served us and truly treated us like royalty. He made the trip special, remembering our names and bringing us extra treats. He went above and beyond and will be missed. It’s people like that who make you want to come back. Salvador and Vianey were the best pool side bartenders with great attitudes and lots of kindness. Christian, Esmeralda and Angel were the activities/entertainment coordinators made the trip so fun and memorable. They became my new friends for the week,? as we played games and dominated at volleyball. Cons: The gym and spa were subpar. The gym equipment is antiquated and the steam room was cold. Additionally, the gym is too small. By 8 am, there were 20 people in there on a Wednesday and it is only about 20x20 square feet. The room service couldn’t seem to pull off the simplest orders.
Decent but not great

We had a fun stay but there were some pros and cons to the trip. The entertainment team (Christian, Esmerelda, Angel, and Uriel) were so great and organized lots of fun games and activities around the pool and on the beach. They really were the highlight of our trip and made it so fun. Our servers by the pool Rick and Sergio were amazing. Very attentive, friendly and accommodating. We had a great dinner at the Italian (Aldo was great!) and Mexican restaurants but our experience at the Japanese restaurant was not good. The concierge suggested/ recommended that we do the "regular dining" at the Japanese restaurant as opposed to the hibachi dinner at the tables with the stoves. This was the worst doing experience we had. I think he only suggested that because the hibachi tables are more work/ more popular. With the normal menu, which seemed to be some sort of set sample menu, we couldn't order what we wanted and the boys were starving afterwards. This was all after we waited to be seated at 8:40, 40 mins after our reservation which you have to have at all the restaurants except the Mexican restaurant. In addition, the concierge talked us into going to a "barbecue" one night (which he assured us would have vegetarian options). The only options were steak tacos and hamburgers but the two vegetarians in our group were limited to dry, frozen French fries and gross looking steamed veggies. We left and got dinner at the Mexican restaurant instead. The rooms were nice and clean. Most of the common areas like restaurants and lobby and pool were decent but some things looked a little run down (like the elevators). The spa was below average. Almost $200 for less than an hour massage and it was not great. There are NO hot tubs on the pool deck and to access a hot tub you have to play $15 a day for "spa and hydro circuit access". There is not a hydro circuit. There are 6 small hot tubs and a non heated pool that serves as a "cold plunge". There are steam rooms in the back corner of the locker rooms so if you're a couple you'd have to separate to go in those. We did not try the French place which costs an additional $100+ per person. Instead we went out of the resort on our last night. If you are going for more than 3 or 4 nights I suggest making a reservation elsewhere or going out of the resort at least one night as the food gets a little old. Overall- very friendly and accommodating staff (other than then they were out of something- like Prosecco for mimosas at the pool but thats not their fault).
