Beautiful Resort; shame about the food...

Kimberly M on Mar 05, 2026

We are currently staying at the resort in a Premier suite. The grounds are gorgeous, the suite is perfect. The place is very clean and the servers are fantastic. We would be back again and again except the food is NOT good. The breakfast buffet is lovely. The lunch grill (other than the seafood grill) is horrible. We have survived on fries at the beach grill and the nibbles in the premier lounge. We have had zero issues booking reservations for the 3 restaurants (only one is open per night) But the food is not worth the effort. There is ZERO guacamole at this resort other than room service. NOT EVEN THE MEXICAN RESTAURANT HAS GUACAMOLE??! We have decided to cut our losses and leave the resort for dinner the next 3 nights.

1 month yearly

Gary C (Littleton, Massachusetts) on Mar 02, 2026

Overall, I like the hotel: it is quiet, very clean, and great grounds and facilities. Not much to do inside the facility other than pool, beach, eat, some shows. Need to go off site for most activities (walks on the beach, hiking, snorkeling, whale-watching, fine dining. Staff is super friendly. I spend a month there each February. The food gets 'routine'. Kyoto, the Asian dining facility, is average at best. Sushi / Sashimi snobs will be disappointed. One breakfast area (Bugambilias) uses way too much oil for omelets & eggs; the other (Capri) uses a correct amount but is not always open.

Thinking of staying here Jan 2027. Wanting to know if American English is spoken and understood here, and are menus, ect, listed in English.

Great all inclusive, especially if you speak Spanish

OCCV23 on Feb 20, 2026

We will definitely be back again in the future! It’s unfortunate to say that the only thing that made the stay a little bit less relaxed was the lower level of English fluency among the staff. For the overwhelming majority, they were all wonderful people willing to work with my poor Spanish and charades.

Nice property

adventures4me (North Saanich, Canada) on Feb 14, 2026

Overall a very attentive resort and we would return. I'd rate it 5 star for service (for which we consistently tipped). I think the facilities were probably 5 star when first built, but I'd say more like a solid 4 now as there is some cosmetic aging that might bother some guests (eg: faded, chipped and stained marble counter tops in rooms). Rooms are very spacious and comfortable with huge bathrooms. Pools were nice with lots of space for everyone. Could use a few patio chairs in pool area for those who prefer to sit vs lounge or who have mobility issues. Found that at times it was a little loud; the sound system could be at a lower volume. Cove was lovely with lots of soft sand and interesting and curious fish. Water slide was very fast and fun. Food was good with enough options for a variety of tastes. The Agave (Mexican) restaurant on the point was exceptional with tasty food that was nicely presented in a beautiful setting. Japanese restaurant was also very good. Did not try the Italian. Bear in mind that the long white bridge you see in pictures is off limits. The land on either side and the bridge are for the golf course and are not part of the resort. There is no direct access to Salagua Beach (south side). Despite what other reviews may indicate, the access has clearly been closed for years and there is a sign warning of crocodiles. It is true. We saw a large crocodile in a "puddle" beside the resort driveway. Similarly, the waterfront just north of the resort can theoretically be accessed through a gate for golfers, but if you exit, security is likely to refuse re-entry and the only option then is to walk up the hill and around to the lobby entrance. If you like long beach walks, the best option is to walk or taxi (or Uber) to Miramar or Salagua beaches. We preferred Miramar.
