Couples Negril 2026
Jordan N on May 09, 2026
My review of Couples Negril, Jamaica May 2026 Starting with the negatives: The drive to the resort is long, about 2 hours depending on time of day! I do believe you can pay for a small plane ride to eliminate this! 10 mins? 100$? Worth it so some..especially if you have a shorter week for vacation Shower/vents: the showers in the bedroom have windows that are vents which are made for natural ventilation..no electric bathroom fans.. however this allows mosquitoes to enter. Pack bug spray! Cup size: The cup size is very small on this resort..maybe 6-8 oz The drinks are strong so maybe this is why!? As a solution, pack your own yeti! Wifi: The resort has spotty wifi overall. The bathroom/bedroom was a bust for sure. On the plus side it is free.. Limited food options: This resort overall lacked some protein in the restaurants. Two of the dining choices are outside and two are inside dining. For the men, fine dining requires long pants and close toed shoes! Ladies…no dress code. The fine dining restaurant was worth the dress up!! NEED TO KNOW: a card is needed upon check in to pay for security deposit: 300$ In addition if you want to buy from the gift shop on property it is CASHLESS and will charge to your room, so pack a travel card of some sort! Variety of music: This resort did not mix up the choice of music very music. Playlist on a bit of replay..however the local entertainment that entered the resort area was amazing! Small bills: They say not to tip….please bring small bills to leave tips. These employees do not get paid very much and it means everything to them to leave anything versus nothing. If you use the catamaran the resort offers, tip! If you parasail using local vendor, every person involved is looking for a tip so 1$ bills are great! If you order room service all week, tip. PROS: Roshay Whyte: she is an amazing staff member on this resort! I want to give a HUGE shout of to her. Thank you so much for making this week extra special with all of your help and kindness. What a beautiful soul and I hope to see her again! In addition, thank you to Keshna (KT) behind the grill bar for helping out on my parents special day by delivering quick service! If your looking to give in other ways: Sweets/chocolates or maybe dental bags? Office of Nature: a SHORT walk to from the sand to a AMAZING local bar. We selected our own lobsters from property to grill up and it was DELICIOUS. Thank you KK (bartender) for making this an awesome experience and I will be back! The vibe, view, music, staff and food…JUST AWESOME! Swimming on property..open 24/7 unless closed for cleaning. This was great I thought. I did not have a bad meal during my vacation and I tried most of the drinks. The AC was no issue which was appreciated! The shower was lovely but the water def stripped my hair color so don’t spend money on that before you go. The resort was small but clean/peaceful.. and staff was very nice! I felt like I was treated like royalty. The left side resort area of Couples is currently closed and under construction due to hurricane but Couples Negril is very quiet with almost zero noise level. The resort offered a bunch of free activities which was very cool and DO NOT MISS the beach dinner/ fireshow. What an excellent way to end my week! Pack some slip shoes or flip flops as I walked mostly barefoot all week it did GET HOT! Sunscreen, hat, and SPF chapstick. Thank me later! If you want to leave the resort to bar hop I recommend OneLoveBus Tour and check out Red Dragon for the best local jerk pork. The beaches were amazing, I saw so much wildlife. Seaweed was not an issue as this resort is in a cove. To not skip out on a snorkel trip I saw things I never saw before. Jamaica I will be back!

Lovely setting, beautiful beach and gardens. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean, authentically Jamaican so lots of wood, fits in with the vibe really. Moans... TV is awful, main restaurant has a rediculous system of talking room numbers then walking you to your table.. Just one guy doing this so it takes forever. Breakfast is a fight with the birds that swoop in and sit on the food as soon as your back is turned. My main criticism is that this concept is a Couples resort.. But there are lots of groups of 6 or 8 friends that are partying together.
Manage Your Expectations

Having read the reviews for his hotel we thought we had found a winner but unfortunately the reviews did not reflect our experience. The location of the hotel on bloody bay is beautiful as are the sunsets and the room was clean, spacious and had a great view of the beach, the Casava terrace restaurant was a nice setting for breakfast/lunch and the pool was great with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. The majority of guests that we spoke to were from the USA and were repeaters as its just a short hop across the water for them so I guess their expectations were not as high as ours as the cost of the holiday would considerably cheaper. We found with the exception of the pool/water sports guys who were always happy/chatty and very helpful that the majority of the staff were friendly until they found out that they were not getting a tip as tipping was blatent and so was the diference in service for those that were tiipping which was disappointing as the whole idea of paying a premium for this hotel was to make it a cashless experince, we also wondered why people would tip knowing it is against the hotel policy and the employees could lose their job? When challenged the excuse for tipping was that they were recovering from the recent hurricane but the ISSA trust foundation is a great way to help if that is the real reason for tipping or is it just a selfish behaviour to gain favour with the staff as the same guests were always servded branded drinks without having to ask for them and were getting cocktails that were not on the hotels list. The service in the restauarants was also sketchy and it could take anything from 1 minute to 10 minutes to get a server to your table and having the entertainment in the Casava restaurant in the evening did not work for us, trying to have a conversation when some woman was screeching out some cover songs very loudly was definitely not romantic, the entertainment in general was very poor and the only evening where it really had an audience was when the silver birds were playing. The room cleaning was good but most days it would be gome 3pm before it was done and soome days there were no clean towels and despite reporting this to the front desk none would appear until the next day, perhaps if the cleaners stopped making awful towel sculptures on the beds they would get the rooms cleaned quicker and also have enough clean towels? Will never be a repeater at this hotel and cannot understand why anybody done unless they are tip crazy and get a better service from the majority of the staff, either stop the tipping or reduce your prices and let people tip.
Not what we were expecting

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in CN. We booked here because it is advertised as a 5-star hotel and it the high score on Tripadvisor. The hotel also states that they pay their staff well so there is a no tipping policy in place and any member of staff can be dismissed if they are caught accepting tips. The journey from the hotel is not great but the driver was really pleasant and made it as comfortable as it can be. On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted and handed a glass of fizz. The staff then took our bags and we were taken to our room. We had a nice room spacious great view and really near the resort. There were lots of hangers and storage space. Fridge with drinks and if you scan the card in your room, you can order whatever you like to be added to this wine beer spirits on a daily basis. We did this and it was excellent. On the same site you can also book the Otaheite restaurant. That was the good. Cleaning - The room was clean on the whole but the TV, cabinets and floor could be better but we were on holiday so did not stress about this. What did annoy us was as the more days we stayed the more the cleaning went downhill. We only had hand towels once in the whole two weeks and twice we had no towels at all, even although we phoned guest services we did not receive them. The room was cleaned in the morning for the first couple of days but got later and later and we gave up on two days as it was gone 4pm. Towels - The problem with the towels is the beach towels are exactly the same as the room towels. There is meant to be a one beach towel per person and can be changed at the beach, however half the time no one was on here so it was a free for all and most people had three on each sunbed so I am sure the laundry could not keep up. Staff - Have to give a big shout out to the pool guys always happy and pleased to see you and really helpful again this is where the majority ends. There are some happy staff but they are few and far between. I think the reason for this is they have a problem with the management and they even had a strike on one night which left us down to one restaurant instead of 4 which was not great. They are not happy and are very reluctant to serve you not sure if they are on a go slow. We did see a lot of tipping and if you did tip you would be served first with a smile. Restaurants - Cassava Terrace -The buffet restaurant is where you get your breakfast but they insist on taking your room number and seating you which causes a huge queue. You then have to queue again for your food and the way the stations are set out you cannot get at any of the hot food as the omelette queue is also here. There is only one toaster so it's a bit of a shambles. In here is also where the entertainment which is very loud if you just want to have a quiet dinner. Helliconia - beach grill in the day restaurant at night. In the day serves fast food really but they still insist on taking your room number seating you but the service is painfully slow and by the time you get your food is normally cold. Also they had the daytime entertainment here while people are eating which takes up few tables .I counted 12 staff in there one day and it took 20 minutes just to get a drink. We tried it once in the evening and had to wait 20/25 minutes for a table I ordered risotto and put my fork in it and it was just one lump so never went back. Lychee - nice but limited and you can't always get in. Otaheite -This is the only restaurant where there is a dress code but the inconsistency is a joke. First time we went inside and stood there for 5 minutes before being told to wait outside. They then showed us to our table and was given a cocktail and the wine menu but they don't tell you that you can have any cocktail or house wine. They provide coffee and liquor but we were never offered them and this was different every time we went. Entertainment -This was bad and really disappointed with the steel band as we were expecting to hear some really authentic Caribbean steel band music not Ed Sheeran , sweet Caroline and if you are happy and you know it. There is no comfortable seats to sit in the evening so we went back to our room really early. Drinks - unless you ask for a branded spirit you will be given the local one but the tonic is flat so it's like having a gin with water. The house wine is not bad. The cocktail list is limited but they will make you others but not great. Overall enjoyed some of the holiday but is not what we were expecting and will not be returning
First timers learn why everyone else seemed to be repeaters

My wife and I stayed at Couples Negril from 4/25/2026 - 5/2/2026 in Bldg. 5, room 203. The view from the balcony was wonderful! Unlike the majority of couples with whom we spoke during our trip, we were first-timers. Most couples had previously visited anywhere from 3 - 50 times. That says alot about the quality of a vacation getaway! All of the staff were friendly, fun and helpful. Donna in the buffet is a wonderful lady and has a manner that will start your day off on a very positive note. Captain Nemo and O.J. at the watersports hut were good guys and a lot of fun. The photographer (sorry I forgot your name) was fun, personable and professional - just don't play cards with him (lol). The room was well equipped and kept spotless by our housekeepers. We were treated to a different towel animal on our bed each day. The a.c. kept the room cool and there was plenty of hot water in the shower. And the view - did I mention the view? We ate at every restaurant except for Lychee (our choice). Everything we had was fresh and delicious. There was a dining staff strike during the first two days of our stay that went completely unoticed by us until we read it on Tripadvisor and received a letter from the hotel regarding the matter. The hotel did a great job of covering any gaps in service and I applaud them for ensuring the guests were well taken care of. The pool was beautiful, but we only took a daily dip in the swim up bar for a quick drink each afternoon. We spent the majority of our time on the beach and/or in the water. It was like glass in the morning with a little coolness to it. By 10 a.m. it was like bath water and so salty it was hard not to float away. We saw only 1 starfish in the swimming area, but saw 1 small and 2 large stingrays over a couple of days. The floating cushions from the beach chairs are a great way to lose track of time in the sea. The sand gravity took hold of us and we only ventured to the west end once during our trip - the obligatory trip to Rick's Cafe. The driver, (www) Mr. Waite, was a polite, older gentleman who was safe, fun and interesting. Rick's was worth seeing and the sunset that night was spectacular! You can't miss the glass bottom boat tour or the Sunset Cruise. My wife surprised me by swimming in the cave. It took a lot of courage for her to do it - but she had a blast. We frequented the "blue tarp" area almost everyday and spent a bit of time at the Office of Nature. The food was great, the music was wonderful and the drinks were cold and tasty. The company of the other tourists and locals at the bar added to the good times. Check in was fast and efficient and musicians played in the lobby while we checked out and waited for the "sad bus" to take us back to the airport. Although the bus ride was 90 minutes each way, there were plenty of interesting sights to see and the driver also pointed out points of interest and was fun. He also played good music! As I stated earlier, we were first-timers. Were. We will be back!!
