Great week at Couple's Negril

Happiness42850545863 (Lakeville, Minnesota) on Feb 17, 2024

Despite strong storms earlier in the week, the grounds crew worked hard to bring the beach back to order and we appreciated it. This trip we snorkeled, played tennis, water skied, fished with a local guide, did a private boat trip through Couples, enjoyed the Silver Birds and fire dancers, the entertainment team and all the great staff! Beautiful place, friendly staff, and fun seeing our fellow repeat guests. Can't wait until we are home in Jamaica again!

Had a fantastic time. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Beaches are beautiful. Make sure you take the catamaran ride, great time! Walk down to the Natures Office and have lobster and shrimp well worth the money!

Wonderful return visit, with some reservations

ImacGlasgow (Rhu, United Kingdom) on Feb 15, 2024

Back again for two weeks. Would give 4.5 rating if that were possible. Love it but this visit was marred by weather and over familiarity. Tropical storm midway blighted things, with heavy rain and strong winds stopping all water sports/trips for three days, and requiring a 3 day beach clean up using heavy machinery, noise, diesel fumes and limited water access. Not the resorts fault but it highlights the lack of very much else to do in (unusual) bad weather. Food: Good. Fine dining service in Otaheite was slow first time, but excellent the second. You need to book promptly to get a good time slot (tried booking by their app but it failed us). Lychee Asian restaurant lacks atmosphere. Cassava main restaurant good but entertainment here in evenings can be intrusive if you wish to chat. Steel band was fantastic! Helicon is our favourite being beachside and goes more formal in evening. Menus change little daily, but there is reasonable choice and lobster night is special. We had a private dining experience - at 250 dollars for no choice of food or wine on the evening and adjacent to ‘loudies’ in the jacuzzi this was frankly a waste of money. Service: Mainly friendly and attentive. Very few queues. Some staff can be deadpan, but it seems to be a mannerism rather than a mood/attitude. Beach: Lovely white sand and usually calm waters. Swimming limited to barely waste depth. Nudist area is discreet. Beach traders are kept at a distance by security, but loads of guests from other hotels stroll the watermark. Bar service on beach from waiters is slow but you are only a few paces from a bar where you can have them fill your bottle. Sunbed availability is usually good and towels copious. Some bed bagging goes on, particularly for those in the shade. Sport: Hobbicat, paddle board, glass bottom boat rips, catamaran trip, snorkelling all good and readily available.Tennis coaching every weekday; few participants but means almost one to one coaching (go to Swept Away for more serious tennis groups). Resort: Slightly dated premises provide character, and grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained. It lies adjacent the main road which can be very noisy intermittently, and it is opposite the small airport which has regular light aircraft departures. Perimeter and beach access are secured, and patrolled. Everything is very close at hand. Pool area is nice with a swim up bar (which tends to attract a louder group of guests, as do the two jacuzzis). Activities: mainly trivia, craft demos and promotions. Piano Bar for discos, karaoke etc if that is your thing. Rota is weekly. Rooms: Spacious, but ground floor rooms not private, and sea view rooms are waste of money. End rooms have gable windows which look onto neighbours balconies so you will close the blinds all the time.Phone resort before arrival and try for blocks 4,5,7 or 8, upper floors. Room service is good and mini bar amazing. Shower rooms have louver window and door, so some noise from road. Breakfast in room is included on request. Overall we had a fantastic holiday again in Couples Negril, although 5 stars might be better as 4.5 stars since sophistication is not its strong point. No tipping culture is very welcome, although some guests seem to do it - habit or self serving perhaps, because it is not expected. Many return guests swear by this resort, and if you don’t mind a little daytime road/aircraft noise and some occasional ‘loudies’ you should definitely go. With direct flight removals and security advisories we will not be back, unfortunately.

21 years of Irie times at CN 2003 - 2024

Our hearts home is at Couples Negril for 20+ years. We’ve been Blessed to have been married here in 2003 and 2024 with many visits in between Why the same place - the Staff and Resort hands and we have tried 5 other resort brands in Jamaica. The resort delivers a consistent experience each visit - we really enjoyed Bob Marley’s birthday celebration and the great staff energy from breakfast to evening Yes we had a few windy days at the end of our visit, but all staff went above and beyond to ensure everyone could enjoy the sun Kudos to all Kitchen, Housekeeping and Restaurant staff. You make our time there so Irie every time If you’re in doubt about getting married here - go for a beautiful tropical wedding in paradise Kudos to all Wedding Coordinators and Photo Staff. Respect always to Tennyson, Amay and Keisha and your great teams. One Love

Wow what a fabulous resort. Great food and drink, great weather and great company! We stayed for 10 days and have just come home. From the intro to our ocean view room with a fantastic view of the pond, the egret and the sea to our last meal everything about this small and friendly hotel was brilliant. We loved the position on the beach and our daily walks not to mention the many sea dips! We loved the Helioniti in the evening and the Lychee and Otaheite restaurants were equally fabulous with a great choice. We went in 2 cruises each time meeting great people and having so much fun. Credit must go to the cruise staff who played great music and got everyone dancing and drinking rum punch. At the hotel Donna and Dean at breakfast were so helpful and Christine our housekeeper provided beautiful towel displays every evening when we came back to our room. Thank you to them all. All in all a great holiday except for 10 hour flight from UK and 2 hour trek from airport to hotel. Worth it though. Thank you to all.
