4th visit

Just got home from our 4th visit to Couples Negril. We went with lowered expectations , not knowing how things would be after hurricane Melissa. We were pleasantly surprised at how well the resort had recovered. The only difference we saw were a few less food options or substitutions. Nothing that detracted from our enjoyment. The staff were amazing, big shout out to Dean and the crew that made our breakfast and lunches such a lovely experience. We really hope there is a 5th visit in our future.
All Couples Resorts are not the same

We have been to Jamaica numerous times and have stayed in different areas. After staying at the Couples Tower Isle; in Ocho Rios, we decided to book a stay at Couples Negril. We loved everything about our previous trip except the beach. It was rocky, small and we were unable to utilize any of the water sports due to rough seas. The location of Couples Negril was very nice, beach was fantastic water was amazing. What was not amazing was the food. In comparing the 2 resorts it was not even close to what we experienced at Tower Isle. All dining rooms open at 6:30pm, not ideal ,as there were normally lines , If you didn't get in then there was normally another hour wait. Eating at 7:30-8pm; not ideal , so your kind of stuck just waiting. The fine dining was terrible, our server was rude, wanting us to order before we even received our drinks. The resort did a terrible job at communicating the daily agenda of activities, most times starting late or you were lost trying to find the location. For an example, jewlery making, 1 small round table with 6 chairs for an entire resort, terrible. Mini fridge filled 2X's in the 10 days we were there. Housekeeping never replenished our coffee for in room machine. The ladies at the coffee cafe were kind and helped start our day off in a great way. There should be 2 of those locations as there was normally a line. Resort shops are extremely small with everything folded; hard to shop. Ride to the resort, small cramped van, ride back to airport was much more enjoyable. For those that are almost 7 feet tall, not ideal and very uncomfortable for an almost 2 hour ride. A purchased painting was left behind by someone in our group, I inquired about it for several days and it could not be located. Hello, the housekeeper was the last person in the room. Smoking on patios was terrible although it clearly states no smoking. Couldn't leave your patio doors open without the fresh scent of cigarette smoke, terrible. We will not be returning to this resort as it seemed very disorganized, chaotic at times and the food was below our expectations for an upscale resort.
Didn't want to leave...one of our favorite resorts!

Wishing we were still at Couples Negril...sigh My husband and I spent 8 days at this lovely resort! We were so pleased we went ahead and kept our vacation as planned. We were warmly greeted with wash cloths and champagne. Check-in was a breeze. The grounds were immaculate, even though another storm blew through several days before we arrived. Impressive efforts! We found the staff to be very kind and thankful for so many loyal guests. It was pleasantly surprising to see such active participation from the guests at the fitness classes and in the gym (I had booked through FitnessProTravel.com to be the Fit Bodies guest fitness instructor for the week). Shamarie with the Spa and Wellness program was a fantastic partner to coordinate with. We co-taught an aqua class on my last teaching day, so that was fun! One of the ladies I met was taking tennis lessons in the mornings! The tennis courts often had couples playing tennis or pickleball:-) Trivia was fun with the entertainment team! Theme nights had great food. Lots of opportunities to meet and greet. We ran into so many fellow Iowan's! We loved the reservation-only restaurant, Otaheite, we went back a second night. Filet mignon, salmon, lamb, yum! We typically had the buffet for breakfast, ate healthy snacks from the veggie bar- the juice with ginger was amazing- or lunch at Heliconia Grill- the Cobb salad just sounded good, and it was! Dinner we tried all the options, all good. Our room was always clean and we loved the turn down service in the evenings. The balcony with chairs and small table were perfect for lounging and reading or the hours of cribbage we ended up playing:-) Though the resort appeared fairly well occupied, we were still able to find seats any time of day. Great beach! Catamaran cruise was included and was a lovely way to spend the day, We got to swim into a cave and the sunset was stunning! We needed this get away and with the ambience and vibe, we really felt like we were able to truly relax. We left feeling like we just had a second honeymoon!

Don't get conned by the "Unlimited Scuba Diving" offer

Overall, we had a great holiday at Couples Negril - the staff were lovely, the food and service, in most cases, was of a high standard with plenty of choice and the resort is in a beautiful location on a wide sandy bay. However, we had booked the holiday on the basis of "Unlimited Scuba Diving" which was offered on the second page of the "What's Included" section of the Couples Resorts Website "dive into crystal-clear waters with unlimited scuba". This had always been the unique selling feature of a Couples holiday for many years. After I had booked and was delving deeper, many pages down it became clearer that you could only have unlimited dives if you were already PADI certified or you could pay many hundreds of dollars to take a certification course. Although at the time (October 2025) you a pool lesson and one ocean dive was included - which was some consolation. However, when we got to the resort and enquired we were told it would cost USD80 (each) to have an ocean dive. Under UK law, I am pretty sure this is "false or misleading advertising" and I would have a case if I took it to Trading Standards. Couples resorts really need to update their websites to make it much clearer what is *actually* included.
