Couples Negril -return guests

Gracie2005 on Apr 17, 2026

Couples Negril-we had an enjoyable stay . It had many years since we last stayed and here is our observation : Service-Most of the employees were very good, bartenders were very quick and the restaurant servers were efficient . Food-some standout dishes and some very average ones. We appreciated the fresh fruits and salads in the mornings and lunch and the croissants were so good! We tried all the restaurants. Service in Otaheite was below average, server was an order taker . Did not check on us to see if we were enjoying the food and did not engage at all. We left and went to Casava for dessert and coffee. The server in the asian was the total opposite-she was lovely and engaging . The food was good there but the temperature could have been hotter . Rooms-A nice Caribbean feel to the room . We had to ask housekeeping to sweep and wash the floor as it was sandy and it wasn't done the day prior . Room service -missed our order called in the night before . Not sure how often the mini bar is refilled but my white wine was not replenished and the beer once in 5 days. The beach was nice the water was swimmable . Several people most days saved chairs early in the morning in the shade and disappeared for hours . That should be monitored . Really entitled to do that. Some small improvements would make the customer service experience exceptional. We will return as we do enjoy Couples resorts .

Guests are harassed by the staff!

anadelprado (Canada) on Apr 17, 2026

My husband and I had booked our vacation there from April 8th to the 15th. On the 12th, at around 5:50 p.m., we were heading back to our room when he decided to go into the Games Room to return a book. I was waiting for him outside, looking through the front glass door, when an employee (I didn’t catch his name) walked past me, mumbling something. Since I couldn’t understand him, I said, “Sorry?” He then repeated clearly: “You look taller in the reflection!” and walked away smiling, as if that were an appropriate or nice joke to make to a guest. I was shocked. For context, I am 5 feet tall. I am a Latin woman—and frankly, who cares? Not all women are from Germany or England, and that is completely normal everywhere. That employee waited until I was alone to make that rude comment, taking a liberty I never gave him. It was disrespectful and cowardly. That evening, we went to have dinner at Cassava Terrace, and he was there setting tables during what seemed like a training session with a more experienced employee. I was so upset that I didn’t even want to get close enough to find out his name, so we chose to eat somewhere else. The next day at the beach, while we were shopping, another employee (named Rasheda) stopped us, looked at me, and directly asked, “How tall are you?” I couldn’t believe it. I thought, “What—again? Did she stop us just to ask me that?” Feeling very uncomfortable, I replied, “I’m 5 feet.” She then looked surprised and said, “Wow!” At that point, I was honestly thinking, “This is getting ridiculous. Can a woman not be short here? What is going on? Are they living in a bubble?” After that, she tried to start a very awkward conversation, which ended with: “You look great for your age, guys!” Another disappointing interaction. I debated whether or not to write this, but I ultimately decided to share my experience, even though I’m not sure anything will be done. What I can say is that we will not be returning. To the management of Couples Negril: some of your staff do not know how to properly interact with tourists or with people from diverse backgrounds. I am a Latin woman who was harassed twice because of my physical appearance, and that is very serious. I hope this is addressed for the sake of other Latin couples who may consider staying at your resort—although I cannot recommend it.

Couples is great but don't use the recommended local hospital Omega Health in Negril

Teddybear098 on Apr 13, 2026

My husband and I have been going to Couples Negril for many years and were in fact married at this resort. However, the visit this year has been ruined due to me having a reaction on both feet needing treatment at the local hospital Omega Health Care. I was treated on the 14th March as per advice from Couples resort to go to this hospital. A lovely young gentleman Jahvon from Couples came with me and was a great help. The bill they presented me with was over $2000 which I paid then and there. We then asked Omega for my hospital records before I left so that I could claim back on my insurance. The hospital said that I had to wait and it would be sent to me via email in a weeks time. Just a warning for anyone being sent from Couples to this hospital, I have been chasing every week via email since I came back and have also emailed Couples to see if they can assist. No one from the resort or the hospital will respond to me. I feel very disappointed that even the hotel has failed to respond to me. I am currently unable to claim against my insurance without my hospital records. I shall be going back to Couples in October and will be taking this up with the Hotel Mangement so that they don't advise tourists to use this particular hospital. If I just had the records as promised none of this would be a problem. They are literally leaving me over $2000 out of pocket.

2.5 to 3 stars - didn’t meet expectations

daniusa2020 (Dracut, Massachusetts) on Apr 05, 2026

We chose Couples Negril based on numerous positive reviews; however, our recent stay did not meet our expectations. We appreciated the effective air conditioning and size of our Beachfront Suite, however the overall experience was not consistent with a premium resort. - Service and Staffing: The resort appeared consistently understaffed. We frequently had to serve our own water and coffee after being overlooked by waitstaff. Additionally, while housekeeping cleaned the sinks and toilets, they often overlooked sand on the floor and sticky surfaces (sticky surfaces that were in the room upon check-in). - Food Quality: The dining experience was subpar. It reminded us of cafeteria food. We noticed significant cost-cutting measures, such as sushi made primarily of rice, iceberg lettuce salads and unripened fruit. Furthermore, the buffet was poorly managed, with guests eating while standing at the buffet and making plates before official opening times. Fruit would run out shortly after opening at breakfast and lunch and would not be replenished. A few days into our stay we began to ask the waitstaff for fruit from the kitchen. Before arriving when reading reviews, we kept asking ourselves why are we not seeing pictures of the food? Now we know why. - Beach and Seating: Finding lounge chairs in the shade was impossible most days unless we arrived before 7:00 AM. Towels were placed on the loungers to save seats early in the morning. The chairs were also placed so closely together that there was no sense of privacy. - Policy Enforcement: We observed several violations of resort rules. Smoking was permitted on the main beach, and phones and singles were allowed on the "au naturel" beach. Additionally, despite the "no-tipping" policy, we witnessed guests tipping to receive better service. - Atmosphere: The environment favored groups, an older demographic and we observed a few families, rather than catering to only couples. - Water Disruption: There was a significant water service disruption during our stay. We were informed 4 hours after the fact that it was a water main break, though local news reports suggested it was scheduled maintenance. We had hoped for a higher standard of service and a more relaxing couples focused environment. We travel 5-6 times per year and have experienced various hotels and resorts. Unfortunately, this was our least favorite trip to date.
