Bad trip
Chris M (Hicksville, New York) on Mar 07, 2026
This is the worse hotel in the collection they ran out of alcohol all the time and no bar on the pool and they let residents from the island on with a day pass and take over
Service is extremely slow

Service was extremely slow at the restaurants and the bars. Preferred club offered nothing. Special. Tables were usually dirty. It’s like they didn’t even care.
Pleasant Surprise
Rebecca L (Niagara Falls, Canada) on Mar 05, 2026
7 ladies travelled there from February 2-12, 2026 and booked preferred. Months after we booked, the reviews began to get quite horrible. We were definitely worried, but this resort was a pleasant surprise. All of our rooms and common areas were clean. The food, although choices are limited at the buffet, were delicious. There was always something for everyone. The breakfast buffets always had an omelet station and that would turn into a pasta station for lunch. The a la cart food was delicious and the Portofino would switch it up. One night was a buffet with a pasta station and another night they had a cheese buffet. I did find eating inside at the Oceana was very loud. I would definitely recommend eating outside if you are annoyed or sensitive to loud rooms. There were some hiccups in the restaurants (cold entre or not exactly what you expected) but that happens at home too so you just have to go with it. If you didn't like your supper, then go to another restaurant or the cafe for a treat or small sandwich. There is always something available. The preferred pool needs to be renovated, and soon. It's definitely showing the wear and tear. This resort does not use wristbands, not sure if it's a Dreams policy or not as this was our first trip to a Dreams property. The staff had sheets of papers with the clientele room category and name on them. At the preferred pool, you would be asked your room number when ordering a drink from the bar then he would crosscheck his list to make sure you were in the Preferred category. Seems like a lot of extra work for the staff and an issue that would be solved with wristbands. There was also non preferred guests around the preferred pool but no one was monitoring that, which was disappointing as chairs were limited around the pool. We only went up to the Preferred lounge once. Snacks and drinks were delicious. But again, if you didn't pay for preferred and just came in behind someone that did, no one checked. Don't think I would pay the extra money for Preferred again unless it was more closely monitored. The grounds were stunning. Very well maintained and we never seen any garbage or even a palm on the ground. The staff at this resort do an amazing job. I would definitely come back to this resort. We would all like to give a special shout out to some of the staff that we thoroughly enjoyed. Orlando that was in the restaurants, he was always so pleasant and happy to see us. Every restaurant we went to, we would look for him just to say hola! Edwin on the entertainment team. He always kept us entertained when doing water aerobics or just walking around. Then there is Rueben and Madeline at the preferred pool. They kept us perfectly hydrated for the entire vacation and always with a warm smile and good conversation. Well done to the staff here!!
Nice place, sloths on sight

Rooms definitely need upgraded but staff clean them well and beds and pillow comfy. Entertainment staff were awesome: shout out to ?Erik, Edwin and Alexandra! You were all so fun! Service at pool bar pretty much non existent as they couldn't keep up with people at the other side of the bar. Lobby staff bar good but again slow when lots of people. Restaurants; French and Italian really good but really slow couple nights, breakfast buffet at market grill better than going to pool area buffet. Buffets for lunch or dinner ok if too busy à la cartes. Seafood went at lunch had only 3 options and food just ok, least favourite. Beach you couldn't swim but pools nice and cleaned regularly. Sloths right behind the hotel were cool, talk to gardens if you can't find them. Overall you need to slow down and have patience. Would definitely recommend this hotel for the price we paid.
Sincerely nothing bad to say

We just got back from a week at Dreams and I had to post a review after reading so many others before we left. Lets start by saying we are seasoned travelers we go away at least twice a year to many different resorts in many different countries. After reading the reviews before we left I though uh oh what have we booked this time and let me tell you the reviews couldn't have been any more wrong it was wonderful. The resort is smaller than we are used to (apparently 250 rooms) and I loved it. I'll try to break it down for you to maybe understand some other reviews. Beach: The tide goes in and out twice a day so the first full day we were there the tide was quite far out in the afternoon it felt like we were half way into the ocean in order to use our floating hammock chairs we bring. Then the next day the tide was higher and we only had to go into the water 20 feet so yes it changes every day. The beach does have some rocky areas to get into the water we just walked to where it was all sand. Now we always bring water shoes on vacation so that was a non issue at the end of the day. It's not a long beach like Mexico but a nice size for walking in the morning. Pool: We are up early so never had trouble getting chairs and even so I'm sure you could find some if needed at any point. The beach didn't have chairs because the tide comes up so high at parts of the day but it wasn't needed as the pool is steps from the beach. Rooms: We didn't pay to have the preferred rooms or pool. I don't think it was necessary for the extra you get. Our room was very clean, everything worked, it had a nice stand up shower and yes you have to hold the handle the entire time the toilet was flushing (5 seconds) but never had an issue with anything going down. Food: It was honestly fantastic. The breakfast buffet has fresh eggs cooked for you, fruit, pastries, cereal etc. Again it's not a huge resort so it doesn't have that massive buffet but everything was flavourful and delicious. I'm a picky eater as I can't have dairy and found no issues finding things to eat. I didn't do the Italian but my friends did and said it was really good. I had the pepper steak from the French restaurant and thought it was cooked perfectly. The French restaurant is the only one that enforces the dress code so pants and a collared shirt for men (no open toed shoes) and something nice for the ladies. Staff: Again no complaints from the staff. Could they have had more, maybe but again smaller resort. They were constantly cleaning, the entertainment staff was always putting on some sort of activity and again clean rooms and always filling the room fridge with beer and water for us. Drinks: To keep my review honest one night they did run out of beer but again have something else. Manuel at the lobby bar made us a drink called Caipiroska and easily my new favourite drink. It was on the bar menu, trust me and try it. Excursions: We new ahead of time what we wanted to do. We did the Panama Canal (the movie was interesting how it was made) and then Old Panama. Both interesting and worth a day trip. Overall we loved the resort and would highly recommend it if you want a quieter resort full of friendly people and staff.
