Unbelievable service, food was excellent and staff were very attentive. Benjamin gave extra attention and special menu options for our son who was having an off night.

Canto del Sol prides itself as your home away from home. It certainly is, in many respects. This was my 7th stay at Canto. The servers, bartenders and door staff are exceptional. This is why I keep coming back. Special mention to Audrey, our dinner host, who is a talented sketch artist and to Chris the doorman. The food is always tasty and abundant. One night there were nachos at the buffet, but no pico de gallo. No sooner did i mention that you can't have nachos without pico de gallo, our server brought me a huge dish of it. I never even said it to her, she just overheard. The hotel is old but the staff are continually cleaning, repairing, and maintaining the grounds. The hotel has added mattress tops to the beds to make them more comfortable. The door staff always make sure that guests are safe, and always take the number of taxis to make sure that nothing is left or forgotten and no one is overcharged. The only exception to a full five star review concerns the concierge and front desk staff. My limited interactions with the front desk staff left the impression that they don't really want to be bothered. The day before we left, someone took our towels while we were in the restaurant having lunch. We reported this to the concierge staff immediately and they assured us they would contact the front desk and do a count of the towels turned in at the end of the day to check if extra towels were picked up. Upon check out, the front desk staff wanted to charge us $1000 pesos for 2 missing towels!! They said they received no report from the concierge staff. So, it appears there was no communication, as had been promised. We managed to negotiate to pay only $500 pesos but it left a bad end to our stay. So, beware the towel conspiracy and enjoy your time at Canto del Sol.

This resort is very small. Not much for food options and the food is not good. Very few staff are great and rest are rude and don’t speak English. Definitely will not be going back and don’t recommend. Whole place needs updated badly. Bathrooms are so small you can’t turn around in them. Small beach and the cabanas are so low you can’t sit under them. I’m 5ft and they came up to my waist.
