First time staying here and we had a great time. We stayed peak season (Feb 19-March 6) and got the cheapest room. We faced Canto but if we looked around the corner we could see the ocean and could also hear it. We were just happy to get a balcony as our expectations were that we were not going to with cheapest option. The silver was degraded in the washroom mirror, rendering it unusable. The front desk was willing to switch us rooms but with the makeup mirror and main room mirror, we did not care anymore, plus after Feb 22 we knew they had bigger issues to deal with. Actually, I would like to shout out Carlos E. at the front desk. He was happy to help with anything I needed and with such a smile on his face - after having stayed many years at the Canto Del Sol (which we wrote off for good two years ago after the management change), it was great to get genuine, friendly service. Especially with uneasiness some staff may have been feeling after the Sunday protests. They handled the entire situation like the professionals they are and did their best to make everyone comfortable. They were busting their butts working long days and it is deeply, deeply, appreciated. Staff at this hotel are top notch. The resort is small, easy to get around, and had a surprising amount of amenities and services the first week. Especially lots of options for eating and snacks! The last week we were there a lot was axed - taco truck, chicken wings, breakfast quesadillas, the à la carte, even the lunch buffet at least a day or two when we actually checked (they would cook in the kitchen for you though). Nightly entertainment was down to a DJ. Now this stuff didn’t affect us really (well, okay, my husband REALLY missed the chicken wings) as we eat off the resort at least once a day and there was always something to eat at the resort, as well as things to do, but it does need to be noted that they will cut advertised amenities when business slows. Yes, we were getting July services at February prices but I can’t be upset after how much PV was hurting after Feb 22. However, I would suggest calling the resort to see what advertised amenities are being offered if it matters to you that you might not get everything they advertise to have. The pool area, even before Feb 22, was plenty large enough for the amount of people. Most resorts we have been to it is impossible to get a lounger after 7am. It wasn’t uncommon for some loungers to free up during the day! I did not find the buffet area crowded either. I was surprised, considering it is a small resort and was full. The beach was very soft, sizeable, and water swimmable, but that is never a guarantee from year to year as the ocean will do its thing. I will echo what everyone else says about the Sky Lounge. Views and service superb. It was my favourite spot to go for a martini and take in the sound of the ocean under the stars. It seems that at one time there were jacuzzis there which would have been nice, but they shut down. Not sure if they are ever coming back. A bonus is that you can walk a couple blocks over to the sister hotel, Pelicanos Grand Beach club. We would stop there on walks for drinks, had breakfast there a couple times to change it up, and enjoyed their pool once for the different scenery. Why not? Anyways, this was long enough, We cannot WAIT to go back. See you next year.

Very nice …but …

Good location. Nice sized rooms. food was pretty good. But such a small resort. Only 1 bar during the day which gets busy. One pool area and one à la carte restaurant. staff were lovely and hard working …except reception not so much. Found reception lacking in warmth or friendliness. Wifi is spotty. Rooms were not very soundproofed. We could hear our neighbours talking in the next room . Unfortunately they liked to start talking at 6am. Overall we had a very nice time but likely wouldn’t not return.
