Small resort meant food options were limited in comparison to other all-inclusives I have stayed at. Limited buffet, and only one restaurant with no windows or view. Staff were all friendly and pool bar was good. Pool water was fully was brown when we arrived and was cleaned over a day or 2. They have a sister resort so we used that pool. In my view the reviews suggest it is better than it is (in comparison to others with 4 stars). Wont stay here again as there are better options.

Mostly locals. Not many employees speak English. Ordering room service was a bit difficult. Everyone comes out and lays towels out on pool chairs so it's impossible to get one unless you do this. Which we do not. Most chairs sat open and unused for hours. Ridiculous to me. Food was OK at buffet. We also used the restaurant that requires reservations. It was very good. Excellent service there. We booked a king room and got a 2 queen that didn't have the amenities listed on the website. The AC worked wonderfully so I didn't ask to me moved to the correct room and take the chance of it being worse.

I got food poisoning and was sick for more than one week because of their food from the buffet. It ruined my whole holiday. I am so sad and mad, they have no food hygiene at all. It was not only me as a german but also 2 members of my mexican family that are used to different food than I that also got diarrea and had to throw up. It ruined our holiday.

Staff at Pelicanos are wonderful. We had a problem at check in, and Lemul worked hard to straighten out details of our stay. Pool waiters work really hard. Victor, Pedro, and Cesar provided fast friendly service. Our beachfront suite in the tower facing the ocean was great. Housekeeper did a lovely job. Things that weren't so great: Several items were missing in the kitchen. Took several requests to get them replaced. Bed sheets were too short to fit the beds. Showers sometimes went from warm to either freezing cold or scalding hot--we had to jump in or out depending on the water temperature! My wife got food poisoning when we ate ate the restaurant on our first night. She mentioned that her taco soup wasn't very warm. Food poisoning was so severe a local friend arranged a consult with a doctor who prescribed medication to treat the food poisoning. I reported this to resort management--response was nobody else complained. We were in the path of a hurricane--management had no safety plan except to stay in your room....resort next door evacuated first floor and boarded up with plywood. Night noise was terrible several times during our stay--loud drunks down on the beach..security guards took no action. Pool area rules aren't enforced at all--several people brought their own very loud music, people brought very large pool floats, drunk guys hit me while throwing each other off a large float. No smoking is never enforced, and smoking area is so poorly marked few people use it--I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and several times had to ask people near to use the smoking area. Not enough umbrellas around the pool or on the beach. The year before activities included tile painting--cut most likely because of expense. Other activities were poorly advertised or didn't happen at all. Property maintenance wasn't great with many areas looking shabby--that changed with a sudden burst of painting an repairs that happened just before the owners annual meeting. Owners would be wise to check more than once a year. The resort was under new management, and from what we observed was more like mismanagement.

This is a great resort that is clean with great food . The pools are awesome and I had a great suite with a view of the ocean. Bus stop right out front, only a 10 min ride to downtown Romantic Zone and 10 min the other way to Walmart or the Airport. Highly recommend.,
