Great experience at the Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort

I had an incredible time at this resort. The location was great and only a short uber ride from zona romantica. There are lots of delicious restaurants and tacos stands nearby the resort as well if you want a break from the resort food. The staff were incredible. Always nice and willing to help. They really made my stay that much better. The atmosphere was also very welcoming - from the staff to the tourists. The rooms themselves are a bit dated, but they were great for the price I paid. The rooms and hotel were always clean. The AC worked great and the shower had hot water whenever I needed it. I had a balcony that had a gorgeous view of the pool and ocean. I never really had any issues with noise. The pool area was also good - although I tended to stay on the beach. Never had trouble finding a chair to sit/ lay in. The food is what you'd expect at a resort. Sometimes it was meh, but often had tasty options. I never did try the a la cart restaurant as the buffet sufficed enough for me. Only warning I have is that the Wifi was not the most dependable and did not work in the rooms. I had an eSim for data as well, which couldn't get bars inside the room. Thank you to the Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort for making my stay so wonderful!
Great for value

We stayed here from February 18-20 2026. The service was exceptional! We were well attended to and staff was helpful with any questions or requests we had. The food for a buffet (with all inclusive package) was great too with lots of variety. Drinks were also good with many options. Resort is well located with a walkable area right outside or a short uber ride to a plaza nearby. Sky lounge was beautiful with a view of the ocean and over Puerto Vallarta. Pool was nice and very clean. The atmosphere was super friendly and active with the Kermes, pool volleyball with other guests, and live singing/dancing performances Some negatives during our stay: Rooms are pretty dated, old but otherwise clean Rooms have thin walls and were able to hear our hallway noise and neighbors pretty easily (they had a crying baby) Spotty service and no Wi-Fi in the rooms, lobby or common area were good though Overall thoughts: I think we very well got our moneys worth and some more with this resort. Rooms could use an upgrade. Even with its drawbacks, for the price and the experience we got, we would come back again.

Review of Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort We stayed at Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort from 2/24 to 2/26 due to the crisis in Puerto Vallarta. We had to leave a resort closer to Bucerías because of the outrageous prices they were charging to extend our stay during the emergency situation. Like many properties in the area, rates increased significantly, and we ended up paying around $200 per night here as well. The rooms and fixtures are older and could definitely use updating, but given the circumstances, we were grateful to have a place to stay. The food was actually very good, and there was plenty of it despite everything going on in the city — that was appreciated. Where there is serious room for improvement is at the front desk. During a crisis, customer experience, empathy, hospitality, and simple attention matter more than ever. Guests should never be left standing without acknowledgment. A simple, “I’ll be right with you,” goes a long way. Management may want to remind desk personnel how important those small gestures are — especially in high-stress situations. Now for the highlight of our stay: the pool staff — especially Danny (female) in the pool area. She provided some of the best service we have seen in a long time. She went the extra mile, had a great attitude, and truly demonstrated what hospitality looks like. She explained everything clearly and treated us with kindness and professionalism. The front desk team could learn a lot from her example. Danny — keep up the great work! We were also approached about a timeshare project being built next door (approximately 25 floors). We were not interested, especially given the situation at the time. I hope management remembers that it was the original “gem by the sea” that built the reputation and created the jobs for everyone there. During a crisis, people remember how they were treated. Thank you to the staff who showed up and worked during a difficult time. That does not go unnoticed. S.Q.

Excellent location between uptown and marina. Great staff, good food, clean, smaller traditional Mexican resort.
Smaller resort, which I like, outdoor dining, so long as music stays quieter great place.

-Older resort so not great sound proofing between rooms but luckily guests relatively quiet. - Ocean views only for owners which is half of hotel. So you're facing the pool. -Music at pool was INSANE LOUD 1st 3 days 10 and 12 hours a day. One day electronic to boot. Noone liked it except the dj. Finally after 3 days of complaining music turned down and calmer nice music rest of our vaca of 2 weeks. -Older crowd generally but some young couples with small children. --Food good, service great, drinks weak. - Great beach and locale; 20 min fast walk to malecon. Quite a few beach and pool chairs as well.
