My husband and I spent a week at Zemi Miches in Miches, Dominican Republic. Before delving into thoughts, I must mention some of the exceptional staff here at this hotel. Paulino (front desk), Scoob (entertainment), Angel (Yuca Grill), Jeny and Karine (Guacete), Carlos (Yuca Grill) - These folks were truly wonderful. They really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had a good time. Hilton - Paulino at the front desk is a manager in the making! We had a lovely time in Miches. Zemi Miches is an interesting resort. The aesthetic vision of the property is incredible. A solid 10/10. There is a lot of beautiful art and decor. However, the execution of the property is where the issues come in. This property is less than a year old but it very much looks 7-8 years old. Everywhere you turn there are leaks, ceilings or walls that have holes that need to be fixed, water damage or rust. The staff is definitely doing the work but the materials used here are questionable. There are also some odd design choices in the room. For instance, the shower in the bathroom is huge and complete with a shower seat. However, the shower head is at the very front of shower and the shower seat is on the opposite side, away from the water, making the seat useless. The door to the room has a huge gap at the bottom, making it easy for bugs or critters to enter the room. The room itself has interesting wall art, but everything else is pretty basic. Food was pretty good but the menus seemed limited. Drinks were a hit or miss. What stood out is how drinks were prepared differently everywhere you went. In one place, a lemon drop martini may be lemonade and vodka over ice and a margarita might be served in a martini glass with no ice. The lack of training in these areas was very apparent. There was a huge red flag and that was in the game area. It was great and complete with a bowling alley, arcade, escape room and lounge. We attempted to bowl, which was $10 per person. When we tried to give $10 in pesos, which is the currency of the Dominican Republic, we were told that we must provide $10 U.S. dollars per person. I’m having a hard time reconciling that a property in the Dominican Republic would not accept Dominican Republic currency. Further, what would the process be if I’m from another country outside of the U.S. and the Dominican Republic? Very disappointing and very shady. Zemi Miches is an interesting property and not one I’m sure I’d return to. I’d love to because I enjoyed the scenery and the people. But concerning business practices and an already worn looking property make the decision difficult.

My husband and I chose Zemi-Michès for our honeymoon, and it was good to us! The resort does not offer transportation so we used DWJ (Mike Fisher) and it’s about 1.5 hours from PUJ airport. The resort was beautiful, quiet, and relaxing! The beach in front of the resort is rocky, but a 10 min walk to the right reveals a typical caribbean beach. The food was great and did not upset our stomachs. Overall, the staff was spectacular. Two of our favorite staff members were: “superman” (Yeuri) with the entertainment team, and Danny at the swim up bar!

Run, don’t walk to this resort! Don’t read other reviews, they likely did not immerse themselves in the experience! While the location was more remote, that’s what makes it special! You have the option for excursions, but why not just enjoy all the beauty, but the resort has to offer! From the minute you walk in the door, you feel like family! You feel like home! The staff are incredibly well-trained and very friendly! They speak excellent English, if that’s important to you! Luis and Enrique at the front desk were fabulous! The General Manager, Manuela, could be seen throughout the resort. She was so friendly. Carlos was a GM in training and he was so great to talk to and get to know his story! He will be running his own resort very soon! The rooms are spacious, and the entire resort is kept immaculate! So many fabulous restaurants to choose from. They are very accommodating to food allergies. At Yuca, get the chicken or steak and always papás fritas! At Boba, get the papaya and cucumber salad, and edamame , and chicken curry satay. At Manicato, get the pizza. I was here teaching Pilates for the week and the entertainment team was fabulous! Omar, Scobby, Kelly, Superman, Suleni! Amazing! So helpful and fun. Make sure you stay up and participate in all of the evening activities: karaoke, rock shows, dancers, circus, performance, silent, dance party, it really makes you feel like you’re part of the resort community! For the money spent, you get the most amazing five star experience! Vacation is what you make it! Immerse yourself in their culture, engage with the staff, relax, and enjoy! You’ll feel like you’re at home and you won’t want to leave!

Location is amazing. Right at the beach. The deco of the hotel is incredible. Even though it's q big hotel, it feels cozy, like a boutique hotel. The room was beautiful and spacious for a couple with a toddler. There was an ample choice of food and most of it was really really good. The thing that made our experience even better was the service of everyone. They were extremely nice with our toddler. Always saying hi to him, playing with him and carrying him around. A special thanks to Brineidy, Yokaida and Cesar who were incredible with out toddler.
