Not quite a 5-star experience

I wanted to fall in love with this fairytale hotel, but our room and the overall hectic environment in the lobby area left a sour taste in my mouth. I get it, this hotel is a landmark in and of itself and even non-guests are curious to see the hotel’s interior. However, not enough is done to create a 5-star experience for actual guests, and from sun up to sun down, the hotel lobby and common areas are absolutely mobbed. The guest room that we received was also not up to 5-star standards. It appears as though a hasty room refresh was done, but the small details that make for a remarkable room experience we overlooked (see pics). The bathroom was also extremely small and there were spiders around the window. On the positive side however, the cleaning staff is was very attentive given the massive size of the hotel and we loved the Le Labo bath products.
Beautiful place to stay

Beautiful hotel! Staff were beyond helpful and friendly. More than willing to help with my weak French :). We paid extra for a river view, but the view was very limited - you had to stand by the window to actually see and the room itself was very small - no room to put anything. The pool, however, was fantastic. Entire facility was clean and welcoming.
Great stay at this iconic hotel

Great location with comfortable rooms and excellent service throughout the stay. Despite having many rooms, the hotel manages operations efficiently and smoothly. The Gold Lounge is a standout, with staff who are especially warm and attentive, creating a very homely atmosphere. The food is very good, and the bar (1608) is also enjoyable with a pleasant ambience. The only minor drawbacks are that the bathroom feels a bit small and the WiFi could be stronger. However, neither issue would stop me from staying here again. Overall, a highly satisfying and comfortable hotel experience that I would gladly repeat again soon.
Beautiful hotel in a great location

A beautiful and historic property in a fantastic location. The hotel is situated near the peak of the old city, providing easy downhill walking access to restaurants, shops and other attractions. There is also easy access to the promenade above the river and a little bit further is access to the city’s fortifications. Staff were friendly and attentive and added to the enjoyment of our stay.
One of the worlds iconic hotels. Hats off to whoever manages this place.

Good points - Great sense of history - Best views from 16th and 17th floors - Check in staff on 14th floor super helpful and worth $1200 a night - Business lounge avoids check in madness on ground floor Bad points - Lobby and bar gets swamped with wedding parties and visitors - Dining options limited but its only 2 minute walk to restaurants in town - Iconic = old bathrooms and in our case the smallest we've ever seen - Oddly there's no all day coffee shop other than a basic Starbucks - Bell staff ( not surprisingly ) take curtness to a whole new level. We went for four nights, enjoyed it, but would happily have gone after one. Pay up for Gold Service to avoid the zoo on lower levels.
