NOT ACCESSIBLE!
Linda S on Dec 20, 2025
The grounds are lovely and so well kept. The staff is amazing and they all deserve a nice Christmas bonus. What was absolutely brutal was the lack of accessibility. I told our travel agent we needed an accessible room. I emailed the resort a month and a half ahead of our trip to tell them we needed an accessible room. When we checked in I told the agent that we needed an accessible room. He didn’t seem to know what he was doing and we assumed he was in training in that someone was helping him. Guess what- there is a 6” step to get in the room. It was very late in the day at this point and we were starving. Whatever, we stayed in that room for a night. The next morning my husband went to the concierge to see what they could do. They sent us to the front desk. Front desk made us call Lomas main call center. Main call center told us to talk to the front desk and the front desk told us to talk to the concierge. Over two hours to go in a complete circle. We finally were referred to Luis, the manager, who was the guy that checked us in. He spent quite a bit of time telling us what he couldn’t do. Then he went on try and upsell us to another room which he later admitted was not accessible either. Finally they decided to get me a ramp for the room. Unfortunately Luis had given us a room right at the bottom of the stairs so 1) I could not make the corner with my scooter and 2) everyone coming down the stairs would trip on my ramp. We’re about 5 hours dealing with this now. Marilyn, our amazing concierge managed to get us a new room. Maintenance came and installed extra handrails in the bathroom and shower for me. We went to the fancy restaurants in Generations a few times. They’d get a ramp so I could get in the restaurant but there was no bathroom I could use there. The ramp would not work in a hallway where I’d have to try and make a sharp turn. I was limited to the main front lobby or our room. I don’t feel bad complaining in that their target market is Canadians and Americans where we expect accessibility or at least a warning that it’s not. Please google “Is El Dorado Royale accessible”. Yes, it says the resort is. It’s not. How can they claim to be a 5 star resort when something so simple is over looked? One lady with major mobility issues was given a second story room. Her husband had to carry her up and down the stairs. This is a major safety concern! Imagine if there had been a fire. Or if he tripped. They spent a day getting sorted out as well. Very frustrating!
We felt welcomed and cared for every step of the way!

We enjoyed our week at El Dorado Royale. We were there last year also. The resort is beautiful, and immaculately maintained. Not a piece of paper or trash anywhere to be found! The beaches and every public space is groomed daily. Lots of winding paths, pools, and gorgeous ocean view. The staff is remarkable. Every interaction was marked by warmth, professionalism, and a genuine desire to serve. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well cared for. The service throughout the resort was consistently good, with one exception: sometimes it was hard to locate a shuttle to take you across the resort. IYKYK! The food is better than most resorts you may visit in Mexico. It's probably our favorite one of all. There is a great variety of dining options, and the quality, presentation, and flavor are excellent. However, the second week before Christmas, the numbers were down and so the restaurant openings and closings seemed more sporadic than when the resort was full last year. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We both found the bed to be incredibly comfortable, and the quiet, adults-only atmosphere made it easy to truly rest and recharge. It's a great place, and I highly recommend it. We went with Delta Vacations, and the price was unbeatable, and the service by Delta was second to none.
Outstanding Experience at El Dorado Royale

We were extremely pleased with our overall experience at El Dorado Royale. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The food and drinks were excellent across the entire resort. The quality, presentation, and variety were impressive, and the à la carte restaurants truly stand out. There are so many dining options throughout this massive complex, each offering something different—from perfectly cooked beef tenderloin to fresh seafood and international cuisine. At one dinner I jokingly asked for a second beef tenderloin after inhaling the first one, and without hesitation: “No problem, sir.” That level of service says it all. The staff were unbelievably attentive, friendly, and genuinely eager to please. You never felt like a number here—every request was met with a smile and prompt service. The sheer size of the resort is remarkable. It stretches from one end to the other with beautifully maintained grounds and an incredible number of swimming pools along the way. Each area has its own vibe, complete with multiple pools and unique swim-up bars, so you’re never far from a drink or a place to relax. If you’re looking for a large, luxurious adults-only resort with top-tier food, outstanding service, and endless options for dining and swimming, El Dorado Royale delivers in every way. Highly recommended.
Relaxing Honeymoon

My Husband and I went to the El Dorado Royale for our Honeymoon November 25th - December 2nd and we had such a wonderful time and would definitely go back. Few things to mention : - we stayed in the Swim Up suite in the 1400s, and though the room itself was a bit dated, but the bed was very comfortable ! With respect to room service it was awesome and quite fast ! The one thing I would note is that when house keeping comes, there is a separate group that will come and stock the fridge with Beverages and we are BIG water consumers, so we found that when we did get house keeping, our fridge was not often stocked and we would have to call to get them to have the separate group come to replenish the waters. - outside of the 1400s, there is the separate concierge office where you book you dinner reservations, we dealt primarily with “Reina” (I hope I spelt that correctly) and she was just the sweetest - we just adored her ! She had all the answers to our questions and was very helpful ! - Our top lunch spots were the Pizza resteraunt next to the main pool, and their pizza was lights out ! Very delicious. Our second favourite was the burger spot on the beach.. best burger I have had in a long time !! - The A Le Cartes were good. The portions however are quite small, so with respect to appies, we often ordered doubles of what we wanted and our favourite was the Japanese restaurant ! It was very good. - The grounds were absolutely STUNNING and very well maintained. The lushness was so beautiful ! And my husband and I were just overall very impressed with the resort. - my husbands favourite was the swing bar on the beach and his go-to bartender was “Luis”, he was so kind and just and all around awesome guy ! With that being said, all the employees were very nice and so welcoming and polite ! - we would definitely recommend a massage in the bungalows just along the beach ! They are a bit pricey, but it was a so relaxing and they did such a great job ! - The beaches were not the greatest, but we had known that going into booking, but we still enjoyed them ! Our go to spot (aside from our own room) was the pool to the right as you are walking to the burger spot ! It was mellow and perfect for just floating and enjoying a bevie ! All in all it was a great trip and we are so appreciative of our time there with one another !
6 Great Nights at the El Dorado Royal!

?? Resort Experience Summary ? Overall Vibe * Better than expected based on negative online reviews. * Good value for the price point, though not a "true 5-star resort." * Service was good and staff were friendly. ??? Food & Dining * Overall food was OK; often an excellent appetizer followed by a lacking main course. * Favorite Restaurant: Santa Fe. * Room service was good and delivered quickly. * The Bad: Dinner reservations were hard to come by (though you found a website workaround).I was able to make all but 2 reservations online. ?? Accommodation & Arrival * Received a free upgrade to an ocean-facing room in Building 17. * Drawbacks: Second floor, no stairs, and close to the noisy entertainment area. * Arrival: Welcome drink provided; quick buggy ride, and staff carried bags. ?? The Good * Pool Activities: Afternoon events like hat painting and dance classes at La Isla pool. * Standout Staff: Agustin (server at La Isla Pool) and Celestino (server at Cocotal). * Entertainment: Night time shows were fun (but not "WOW"). * Amenities: Beautiful grounds and good poolside pizza. ?? The Bad * Logistics: Lack of signage and poor cart service for a large resort. * Ambiance: Inadequate lighting on the grounds at night. * Pool/Beach: No beach seating at the Royal Section; main pool had "towel game"; quiet pool lacked shade. * Noise: Loud mariachi band in Rincon during dinner. ?? Important FYI (Timeshare & Reservations) * You can access a resort website to make most dinner reservations, bypassing the concierge. * The concierge meeting is where the timeshare pitch begins. You may need to visit for all dinner reservations. Overall a great experience! Nice clean room, good service, beautiful grounds. Just another great day in paradise!!! No regrets here!
