Best food experience in Cancun area resorts
Aiden M (Peterborough) on Mar 28, 2026
I'm a foodie. This did not disappoint. Very large complex, easy to walk and golf shuttles if u like. They have buffets but also menu restaurants for all the three main meals of the day. Food way very good. Service at restaurants very good. Rooms quite dated but functional. Pools were good. Beach lovers this is not for you. My dislikes were the fact that to book the a la cart restaurants, they only had late seatings for people who were at this part of the resort.. There are three resorts in one. Earliest was usually 9 pm.. Entertainment was from there so hard to do a decent dinner and see the entertainment. They give priority earlier reservations to the "Generations part" . That and the fact that for our week there, we only had drink service at the pool two times.. I think for how full the loungers were (good luck getting one if you dont put your towel on early in the morning). there should of been more service by the pools.

Amazing location. My room with the pool and jacuzzi was really relaxing. The guys with the karts that pick you up from your room are really polite.
Honest Review- 3rd time here

This review might be a bit long but i will try to be balanced and cover what I would want to read. I have been to this resort three times but before this time was 10years ago Positives The food! - there are lots of different restaurants on site to book as many times as you want, as well a choice of places to eat for lunch. The food is really nice and there is something for everyone. I’m vegetarian there was an enough choice, albeit at the lunch places around the main pools this could be improved on. However definitely not complaining as it’s lovely. And there is 24h room service! - fave resturant Kampai. Drinks - lots of different drinks and cocktails, martini bar, Bellini bar and swim up pool bars. There is no cocktail menu you literally have to just ask for what you want or ask others what they have. They even have a Starbucks on site. The Staff! - All the staff are so lovely and helpful, the concierge will help you with everything, and the reception staff are really good. Waiting staff also great and the golf cart drivers (resort is so big some people use the golf carts to get from one side to the other) The trip to Maroma beach- included in your all inclusive you can go to a nearby beach club which is beautiful, food and drink still all included. As well as catamaran and snorkelling. Spaces - lots of different spaces to lay and relax. Several different pools, some quieter if not wanting to be at the rowdy pool. Towels- they have fresh towels in boxes at each pool which is great as you can refresh your towel when needed. Rooms - rooms are spacious and clean and have all the amenities needed, coffee machine, iron and ironing board, shampoo/conditioner, shower gel, moisturiser, dressing gown etc. most room have a jacuzzi in which has bath salts and bubbles. Room has a mini bar that is restocked each day, on occasions they forgot to restock our water, but a call to concierge and several bottles are delivered. Lovely gym, also Spa for those who like this. Negatives (but not really bad that I wouldn’t go back because of it) Lots of Americans and they are loud! lol so bring ya headphones if you are wanting to relax and not party. If you want to party then you will enjoy the main pool (La Isla). Given it is catered to Americans the tip culture is very embedded so bring lots of tip money. We tipped everyone, but one waiter in a pool bar called Eduardo made a rude comment when I got drinks and didn’t tip (as I’d been swimming) he then was rude when serving. Literally the only member of staff who wasn’t lovely. The sun beds! - the standard sun beds (not in the casitas area) are shocking. Old, uncomfortable and some broken. This is not acceptable for this resort as a 5star hotel and really lets it down. It’s also a shame they have crammed cabanas around the pools which has meant the sun beds are now pushed out into shadier areas. The pools - Las Isla pool is grim, it’s Misty with all the Americans partying in there. It really needs a better filter and good clean. Tucanes pool is a lovely little pool but is in disrepair with all the tiles coming off and needs some maintenance . If you love a beach over pool, you might be disappointed, the beach isn’t great, but as stated above you can go to Maroma which is lovely. It was Saragassium season which is where seaweed swamps the beaches in Mexico. It was clear this was being cleared but in areas where it wasn’t the smell is eggy and did waft over on some days depending what pool you was at. Some of the rooms could do with a bit of a paint and update (minor things) Despite the hotel saying they remove towels saving beds they don’t, so if you want a bed in the sun at the pool you want, you do have to join in and put towels out early, that said, that doesn’t mean you won’t find a sun bed somewhere as the resort is so big. Evening entertainment isn’t great. Some Tips Download the app so you can see what’s on and what restaurants you have booked. You can book all the nights you want in advance with concierge but can cancel them with the app. The Mexican and cocotal restaurants do lovely breakfast but if you just want coffee and pastry without going in, they have a little stand to help yourself Do not buy snacks from the hotel shop,(get at airport or shop) it’s super expensive. We brought a large bag of Doritos and a bag of skittles and it was $30 Towels out about 7am if you want the bed of choice. Leave too off your toiletries when they need filling up. Health bar does lovely protein shakes and smoothies and vegan food.
Very nice resort, but pushy sales people

We stayed here for a week. We ended up upgrading to a junior swim out suite from a regular junior suite. I would recommend that it gives you more options than just a room. Food was pretty good and it’s a very large resort so I was able to get in exercise which is nice. It was a very clean resort with very friendly staff. Room service is great. Maid service is great. I think my only complaint is that have like a timeshare situation. Every time we had to talk to the concierge, which they make you do often, she would pressure you into seeing rooms and signing up for their services. I knew about it going in this was something that happened but everybody said as long as you say no they won’t continue to bother you. That was not the case with us it took 3 days of badgering us to understand NO. After that never once saw or talk to concierge again.
Very enjoyable!

Just got back from a wonderful week at this lovely resort! Pros- there are many great pools! We found our favorite by far was on the far El Dorado Royale side by the Mexican restaurant. Great shuttle service! We really loved our room in building 5400! Maid service was always done well. Our concierge- Tony, took care of all reservations and got us times we wanted. Day trip to Maroma beach was well worth it and included! Short bus ride (15 min tops) and an amazing white sand beach with turquoise water. 2 hour catamaran boat ride and snorkeling included plus drinks on the boat. Lovely meal on the beach too! I love that none of this cost us extra! Best food- breakfast at the Mexican restaurant by far! Sit down breakfast- delicious! Sami was the best server! Fantastic! Best lunch place- place on beach on far side of El Dorado Royale. Try the tiki sandwich- yum! Our favorite dinner places were the Italian and Wine Kitchen ( that one was at Generations). At the Italian Oscar was a FABULOUS server! Try the beef filet and salmon. Their seafood soup was outstanding too! Don't miss out on their chocolate cake- to die for! At the Wine Kitchen we had the fillet mignon and it was delicious! Very cool atmosphere! Shout out to Caroline who also worked in the concierge office near building 5400. She knows her stuff!! She set up our shuttle home with no problems. The Health bar is a must! We enjoyed their milkshakes daily and would sit on the swinging bench right across on the beach. Cons-the beach. You just can't swim there. But, once you get past seeing the big cement blocks and one part that smells stinky from seaweed- you get past this. Lack of signs- it took us about 5 days to really figure things out as far as where things were and what activities were going on. The app you download is kind of helpful. not great though. They did offer an included bike tour which might have been helpful because they take you around and show you all three resorts- but I really didn't want to wear a helmet on such hot days so we passed. Very rude bartender at Generations by swim up bar. Wish I had his name! Entertainment- it was mid. The first night we were there the main act was really good- wish I could remember their name. Another night there was a great band in the disco area after the main act. The Dreams show was really good! But, overall the entertainment was so so. We love to try new resorts all the time and would recommend this one!
