More positives than negatives! Go visit!

Mcoreo2 (Vacaville, California) on Jan 25, 2023

Firstly resort is a solid 8 of ten. We had almost a perfect wonderful vacation! The things that made a negative: people saving pool chairs! It is ridiculous that people go down at 7:15 7:30 am and put towels shoes magazines whatever they can find to save chairs, then leave and don’t come back for hours! There are signs saying chairs cannot be saved but this is not enforced by workers and the hotel. To come down after getting dressed and breakfast at 9 or 10 to find there are slim to 0! pool chairs available is one of my main negatives. And they keep them all day until like 4 pm when people leave to get ready for the night. The hotel needs to do something about this and the guests really seem to think this is okay! I was by myself looking for a place to relax and saw a couple of vacant chairs asked the person nearby if the chair was open ( there was a folded towel on it) and he said no, I think they went to eat lunch. I told him they cannot save chairs like that to go eat lunch or run errands or take a nap etc etc and he stated “yes you can” I said No, you cannot. go read the signs and I took the chair. But I should not have to be the bad guy to just enjoy some pool time the hotel should do more to make pool time good for everyone. The food is ok. Pretty much the same thing daily at the buffet (I mainly went for bfast and some lunch so dinner may be different) And half the time there is no signs telling you what you are looking at to eat which bothered me. The addl restaurants were much better and we really enjoyed especially the Italian Bella. Be sure to make reservations when you check in to avoid not being able to enjoy these places. The sushi place off the hook was poor. All the sushi rolls had waayy too much rice and had cream cheese inside. I mean I tend to eat sushi a lot and know a few rolls have cream cheese but not ALL of them. Very sparse on the fish. Make this a Mexican hotdog and bbq burger place or something I bet it would be much better! The cafe downstairs which is grab and go is an awesome concept! No interacting with anyone just pick up sandwiches, salads , drinks, cookies, popcorn etc and go! I loved it! No there is no beach in front of the hotel. Yes There is alot of seaweed which tends to smell through no fault of the hotel. There is beach and sand just off to the left and if you go further down nice sandy beaches that are swim-able (but cold!) The hotel is just a couple blocks from 5th Ave which has lots and lots of shopping and souvenirs! Very cool! But beware! Very hard selling people out very pushy to sell you tequila excursions etc that got on my nerves but you just ignore them. Rooms were clean and enjoyable but loud! People do not seem to respect the fact others may be sleeping or resting just screaming yelling laughing late at nite it was a nuisance! And I’m not a Scrooge I know people are there to have fun but my hubby actually yelled at our neighbor to shut up lol. No ice machines must order ice from room service which is weird. Bring lots of change for tipping (all inclusive but tips are very expected for everything) the atm at the hotel charges a minimum of 4.95 depending on what amount you take out I was charged 7.95 to take out 100.00 plus what your bank may charge so bring dollars and small bills with you for that and also shopping. The spa is nice good massages but they do not do pedis I had to go to the Hilton across the street (which is a whole other story) Miguel- manager made our stay awesome and was such a professional Alejandra- rooms was very nice and Nancy- guest service was very nice and helpful. This hotel was a great deal and I really hope I come back soon! Some negatives but mostly positive so go visit !take my word! You’ll enjoy! :)

Avoid Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen!

RealityReviews (Lewisville) on Jan 25, 2023

From check in to check out the disappointments were endless. We loved Wyndham Alltra Cancun but Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen is the complete opposite. Jose front desk supervisor with 12 years experience , Ximena Sanchez and the GeneraL Manager Jonathan Sanchez were more interested in deflecting blame and contributed to the worst vacation experience we've ever had. We chose this hotel because it was all adults and we thought it would provide more of a nighlife for our clients. The entire resort is dead by 10:00 p.m. and if your up by 6:00 a.m you can beat the "Silver" haired crowd to the pool. We opted for the walk out rooms so that we could have all access to the beach and private cabanas. Surprise! the beach is public and the security guards do nothing if you have random homeless people sleeping in your cabana. The beach is eroded away and the rocks are sharp. The public would set up with their entire families and take over with their children. There is 1 bartender at the drink hut. The hut is self service, so be prepared to stand in line and order 2 drinks so that you can have one to drink when you go back in line. We will not be back. Choose Cancun!
