We stayed at Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, and while there were some positives, a couple of major issues significantly impacted our experience. To start, the staff was friendly and the entertainment was genuinely enjoyable. There are definitely things this resort does well. However, prior to our arrival, I coordinated with a Hyatt representative about a paid room upgrade. I was shown a map of available locations and clearly stated that we would only proceed with the upgrade if we received a specific area. That request was not honored upon arrival. Had I known that would be the case, I would not have agreed to spend the additional non-refundable amount. After waiting about three hours in the lobby and arriving on little to no sleep, we were extremely exhausted and ended up settling into the room we were given simply because we didn’t have the energy to push the issue further at that time. The second major issue was the condition of the bedding. All of the pillows had a strong mildew odor, which made it very difficult to sleep. The smell lingered enough that we felt the need to shower more frequently. Even after housekeeping serviced the room and replaced the pillows, the issue persisted; the new pillows also smelled like mildew. For a trip that was meant to be a special milestone, these issues really detracted from the experience. We’re planning to return to Playa del Carmen next year, but based on this experience, we would likely choose a different resort.

Food, location, and staff were wonderful. We were offered a late checkout because we were VIP Expedia members which was wonderful as our flight out was late in the day. The entertainment through the day and evenings was engaging and changed every night.

The Hyatt Vivid's location right on the beach is spectacular, giving us great sunrises and comfortable shaded evenings to relax and enjoy the all-inclusive experience. What truly sets this resort apart, however, is the staff. Moses at the Concierge desk was exceptional, as was Antonio Garcia, who was incredibly responsive to our needs by the pool. Dining at Spice was a daily delight; having four cooking stations ready to prepare seafood and meats exactly to our taste was a highlight. The service from Jose, Lucas, Maya, and the rest of the team was beyond reproach, including a stunning moonlit five-course birthday dinner that was handled with such care. Whether we were asking for local walking advice or custom cocktails at the bar, the team’s helpfulness and expertise were evident in everything they did

We’ve stayed in some really good hotels but this is one of the best we’ve stayed at overall. The food in each of the restaurants, including the buffet really was excellent. The service was excellent throughout the hotel. I’ve never really enjoyed entertainment at other hotels as it’s typically just a bit average. At the Hyatt Vivid PDC though, the quality of the shows was fantastic - proper professional shows. The room was huge and very well appointed. The only downside was it was near some sort of facilities area that had constant noise from extractors or compressors. Not so good when chilling on the balcony but it probably helped get a good nights sleep! Also the best range of daytime activities and gym we’ve seen at a hotel.

The resort was great. Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, beautiful pools and landscaping, and the restaurants had good food. Very close to downtown eating and shopping as well. I enjoyed our stay.
