bill k on Feb 28, 2026

Just returned Thursday from hotel been to Mexico and have never been this disappointed in any hotel , for start the hotel is very clean but dont expect to get the nice looking rooms you seen on the web site those or members only and membership can run 10,000 plus . The resort is small so not alot to do pools where so cold so swimming was not happening the beach was ok lots of seaweed and its about 1/4 mile to get to water that is over you knees . While relaxing by the pool there is no place to get a quik burger , fries or hotdog everywhere you ate you had to go in and sit and be wated on plus food was bad really bad first day we were there i had hamburger and spent the week with food poising did see house Dr which cost around 500 buy the time i got meds . Anyhow very disappointed .

Not 5*

We are seasoned travelers and have been to at least 25 all inclusive resorts. We had a nice week but it didn't live up to the glowing 5 star reviews. Upon arrival at the small check in area, we were not offered a welcome drink or towel. It isn't much of a lobby and not welcoming in any way. The grounds are beautiful and well kept as well as the beach. The main pool was another story. It is falling apart and was filthy for our entire stay. Not once did we see anyone clean it or test the water. Both pools are unheated and freezing cold. We stayed in a honeymoon suite to have a jacuzzi tub. Tried to use it once but the water just trickled out and took over an hour to fill. A huge disappointment and I didn't bother using it again. Our room was large and clean but nothing special. The food was good but not outstanding. We enjoyed the wine included and all other drinks we ordered. Reviews stated that it was a laid back and quiet resort. That is partly true. Mornings and evenings are quiet but afternoons at the main pool can get quite loud especially with those ridiculous foam parties. If you want to take an afternoon siesta, don't get a room anywhere near the pool. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. I liked the resort app to make our dinner reservations and order room service. However there wasn't enough information about daily activities or the lunches by the pool. We really enjoyed the Mexican fiesta on the beach. It was very well done and the buffet was great as well as the entertainment. The grounds, staff and beach is what we liked about this resort, however we wouldn't come again.

Eldorado Maroma

Once again the staff and the Resort have been phenomenal. From the moment we arrived we were treated like we were part of their family. We were part of a 10 person group that were amazed by the hospitality and food service at every meal. The pop up food experiences were fantastic as well as the food cooking classes, Catamaran cruise, all day activities, and of course the romantic dinners they provided. The activities staff made our stay even better. Great entertainment and as always the Nay Ya Spa was top notch. Impeccable resort. Once again the staff is what makes this experience/vacation so memorable.

El Dorado Maroma

My husband and I just returned from this quaint little resort. We have enjoyed many Caribbean vacations but this was our first at such a small resort. Our first impression was not good at all. The entrance from the road was an old building with rusty vehicles in the yard. The drive from the main road was rough and long and we met three camels on the drive! Upon arrival, the front of the lobby is small and plain. Inside the lobby, there was no cool towel or welcoming cocktail. The only person who was handling check ins was busy so we sat on a small, uncomfortable sofa. Esther handled our check in and she was incredibly sweet and nice but not particularly knowledgeable. She didn’t know when the Mexican Fiesta night was or if there was nightly entertainment. She thought “maybe, there might be”. Our room was in building 7, 4th floor, which is actually the 3rd floor. After leaving the lobby we were able to enjoy the lush, incredible beauty of the grounds. They are truly stunning and the groundskeepers deserve credit for their great work. Our room was clean, we had ample towels each day and the room was cleaned early in the day. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite. It was a bit dated and tired but with the excellent cleaning staff we certainly had no complaints. It wouldn’t be the room for anyone with mobility issues due to the stairs and no elevator. The beach is gorgeous and we were able to get a chair in the shade every day, except on the windy days. They care a lot about the umbrellas and would not open them for 2 days due to the wind. Beach butlers Manuel and Armando are very good. They took great care of us! The bar service was also great. The beach is stunning but if you like to swim you will be disappointed. I certainly was. Not the resorts fault but I wish I had known before I booked. The food was outstanding. We thought we would miss having a buffet but we did not. We felt like we had a very authentic Mexican food experience. The servers at the restaurants were all pleasant. Our favourites were Arturo and Carlos at Papitos and Jesus at Mio. There is some wildlife around. If you eat outside in the evening, expect to see a raccoon. A bit of a surprise to us but everyone has to eat! We didn’t take advantage of the ‘more inclusive’ aspect of the resort so I can’t comment on that, it did seem like lots of people were. The nightlife is quiet. Everything shuts downs early but we were fine with that. Definitely not your spot if you like to party though. Overall we liked a lot of things about this resort, especially the staff. They are the stars here. We likely won’t return because I love to swim. If that’s not your thing than I would highly recommend you visit here.
