Perfect location!

Stathers (East Yorkshire) on Jun 27, 2024

We’d not been to San Francisco for 15 years and decided to stay at the wharf rather than in the city and we could not have been happier with that decision! The hotel is in prime location for the cable cars, Pier 39, bike rentals to cycle the Golden Gate and our car rental office was just next door! We received a really friendly welcome from Leo and Sarah was super accommodating in getting us a kettle! Needed our English cup of tea for the jet lag! ?? The room met all our needs and whilst we did hear a little bit of noise in the middle of the night, it didn’t keep us up. We ate breakfast in the hotel on one of the days which was very nice. We enjoyed a good walk one morning to the Ferry Building, full of independent food vendors. We also stumbled across Musee Mecanique at the wharf - full of vintage penny games / arcade machines. Great fun and an amazing collection. Felt safe in the area, day and night. Overall very happy with our stay, thank you!

Sadly not a good night's sleep

domdadomdom on May 08, 2024

The hotel itself was fine, and the staff were definitely a highlight - everyone we spoke to on the front desk was polite, friendly and super helpful. We got some great recommendations for places to eat! Our room felt a little dark and perhaps dated. Perfectly clean on arrival so no issues there. Area felt safe, and we chose it to be away from downtown. The problem was the outside noise. We were here for 5 nights. Every night without fail around 1am and again around 4.30am there was noise on the street - normally something to do with the homeless raiding bins, or cleaning lorries or bin lorries in the early hours. Not the hotels fault, but when you're jet lagged, having interrupted sleep is the worst. It might be better in other parts of the hotel - perhaps on the inside of the square. We tried earplugs but this didn't really help. Our room faced Beach St. If the noise wasn't an issue, would be a 4/5 and we'd happily stay there again. If your number one priority is a quiet night, perhaps look elsewhere.

Perfect location, great staff & brilliant beds!

MrsCockburn on Feb 06, 2024

This place is absolutely perfect for a visit to San Francisco. We were warmly welcomed by Leo at reception and quickly checked in. Our room was enormous & the beds/pillows are the best I’ve ever slept on (and we travel a lot!!). They were so comfortable. The hotel is just round the corner from fisherman’s wharf and a 15 walk from pier 39. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation & if we’re ever back to San Francisco, this is definitely where we’ll be staying!! Burger place round the corner and pizza place next door. Ps- WiFi is brilliant. Fast enough for even the grumpiest teenager !! ??????????

Excellent Choice

Mike B (Brookline, Massachusetts) on Nov 05, 2023

Our experience here was excellent and we would give it a top rating were it not for the shower/tub (see below). The room and mattresses were very good. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They provided a microwave at our request. And the location: for easy walking access to the Fisherman's Wharf area it was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the shower/tub problem is built in and not something staff at this location can do anything about. (This also applies to the Marriott in Monterey where we stayed the following week, which has the same fixture). It was a shower/tub that I hated hated HATED! It is made 100% for taking a bath and 0% for taking a shower. That is because the bottom is curved like the bottom of a canoe. There is no flat surface to stand on. Making things worse is the fact that there is only one grab bar and that is affixed to the front wall beneath the shower head. So whenever I turned around to wash my back or my rear end, I was desperately trying to balance myself on a canoe bottom with nothing to grab on to. When I finished and finally made it to the flat bathroom floor it was with immense relief. That being said, everything else is so good we would return.

Good location for Fisherman’s Wharf

Ernie L (Sydney, Australia) on Oct 04, 2023

Good location for Fisherman’s Wharf and a short walk to the main wharfs for different dining options and also to start of trams. It generally felt safe to walk around the area. The staff were friendly and checkin was quick. The hotel definitely needs updating and the rooms were musty as others have commented also. Luckily the room we had you could open windows slightly to air the room. You could also hear noise from the rooms above occasionally and no one around to help with bags. Overall would be happy to stay here again.
