We had a nice and safe stay here after our flights to nyc were cancelled. The front desk was kind and helpful, organised a room for us at 9am after travelling all night from Australia. The rooms are big, while our bathroom felt tiny, it wasnt a problem. The iced water in the lobby is an awesome little touch. Location in union square is great and we would stay here again. The stay is definitely only worth 2–3 nights at most. The hotel is very old, and the rooms reflect that. The hallways have a spooky feel to them. The carpets needs to be replaced. The rooms are small. Make sure you keep all of your receipts. At check-in, the front desk explained the fees that would be charged to my card, but when I later checked my account, the amount was different. I contacted the hotel and spoke with a manager, and the response was basically, “Oh well, this is the cost. Sorry that happened to you.” Also, if you book through a third party, be sure to bring your invoice. The hotel may place you in a different room than the one described in your booking. Would I stay again. Unable to answer that.

I read mixed reviews before coming and I was a bit nervous but when I checked in Darwin was very nice and helpful . He gave us a great room near the pool and it was very clean and a good size. It’s in a very easy location 1 block from Union square. Definitely ask for a room in the newer building . I have no complaints. It was a nice stay . Staff was friendly and hotel was clean & Maintained.

Perfect location wise - cable car right at the end of the road - passes Lombard Street it and can take you all the way to Hyde Beech - walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf. Also perfect easy walking route for the train straight to SFO airport - just a straight walk. Lovely area, loads of restaurant choices. Stayed in the historic room - a tidy size too. Lovely staff

I had a great stay at the Handlery Hotel. The front desk staff were all very friendly, helpful, and made me feel welcomed from the moment I arrived. My room was spotless and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable stay. The hotel’s location is excellent, you’re within easy reach of shopping, plenty of food options, and the MUNI trains for getting around the city. One thing to note is that the hotel is quite large and actually consists of two separate buildings, so be prepared for a bit of walking depending on where your room is. Overall, it was a pleasant and convenient experience.
