We spent the first four days of our vacation at the Delta, and we extremely happy!
Our room had a view of the Empress/Parliament building, which was absolutely stunning at night.
The room was large, the beds and pillows very comfortable, and the hotel itself was very very nice.
We used the tennis court (as it wasn’t busy), to practice softball with my daughter, as we were headed to a tournament after our stay here.
We also hung out in the pool a few times, it was nice too.
All of the staff we spoke to were great, very friendly, and able to answer any questions we had.
Amazing Hotel, Great Service, Awesome Room
Jul 22, 2021
We're from Victoria, and did a staycation for our 14th anniversary; staying at the Delta Ocean Pointe. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. We received attentive service from Mayumi and Ben at the Front Desk and Victoria Z sorted out all details of our stay, with added special touches to mark our anniversary. She went one step further and provided me a birthday card, as she knew that was coming up also. We were so pleased with everything and the hotel is stunning. Room was very clean and well-appointed, service was fantastic and we LOVED every part of our stay. Thank you, we will be back!
Great hotel but no concern for possible theft
Jul 20, 2021
We were having such a great trip at this hotel. Everything was great, one of the most comfiest beds we ever had at a hotel. However, on our last night there we came back to our room and the door was somehow open with the deadbolt out. We always double check to hear the clicking locking noise when we leave the room and we both heard it click. Also, we don't touch the dead bolt ever. The hotel got a guy that came up with a hand held device and did some diagnosis and said we would get a report in the morning if someone came into the room. No phone call from front desk. On checking out, the guy at the front desk had no report yet and said I would get a phone call later that day. It has been four days now and no phone call. I usually have $500 cash in my wallet, lucky I had it in my possession that night.
Great hotel. Terrible restaurant
Jul 20, 2021
The hotel was great. Check in staff were very friendly. Great views. Rooms were clean and spacious. Nothing to complain about. EXCEPT 2 things. Couldn’t get a cup of coffee in the morning except for $4/takeout cup at the restaurant on site - Hotel room coffee doesn’t count as it’s terrible everywhere :-)
The restaurant was a hot mess. It was over 75% empty and we had to wait 30 minutes without a reservation. When asked, one hostess commented “I’m not trying to be mean”. Strangest reply. We were quoted 20 minutes and after 30 I asked how much longer. Her reply was I told you 30 minutes and we’ll seat you shortly. After she walked away I asked another hostess why so long and she was honest enough to say there wasn’t enough staff on.
The first hostess sat another table close by and when they asked if they could have a different table in the sun (it was chilly) they were told no because the table was got 6 and they were only a party of 2. The patio was 75% empty and there were tons of options for a party of 6 elsewhere.
Server was friendly but only saw her twice during the entire visit. A table beside us asked for coffee refills 3 separate times and didn’t get it. What looked to be managers were busy bussing tables instead of helping servers take care of customers.
Food came hot and tasty and with very little delay.
If I rated the hotel based on the only dining option they offer, I’d give it a 1/5.
I’m mindful that places are playing catch-up from Covid. However, we stayed in 5 hotels travelling the island and main land over a couple of weeks and didn’t experience this low level of service at any other location.
Solid stay, and beautiful inner Harbour views
Jul 14, 2021
The two things we enjoyed the most were the beautiful inner harbor views, as well as the good location.
No matter where you are in the inner harbor area, you'll notice the hotel's commanding presence and perched on the other side of the water. Almost like Sauron's eye lol, but of course in a good way. Every time I visit the capital city I tell myself I'll stay at the Delta the next time. Made good on my own promise this time and glad I did.
The interior of the hotel (common areas, lobby area) aren't quite as impressive as the exterior and probably will be due for a refresh within the next 5 years or so. Lobby area isn't bright and spacious despite the direct view of the water. However, we aren't fussy vacationers, and were just as happy with our stay overall
As mentioned earlier, we thought the location was great. While there are other hotels such as the Magnolia, Hilton, or Marriott that are closer to the heart of the downtown area, we quite enjoyed our walks across the pedestrian bridge and on to Wharf St with its wealth of local eateries and gastro pubs.
The room itself is typical Delta, as pretty much all the Delta rooms we've stayed are similarly designed and equipped in terms of hard product.
We didn't get a chance to use the hotel indoor pool or other facilities, but did enjoy breakfast on the outdoor patio of Lure. Although quality of food is average, service level of staff is good overall.
Overall, I'd recommend and would plan to return again in the future. But first I'll probably check out the Marriott and it's newly renovated rooms next time
