Centrally based Hotel

Wendy S (West Sussex, United Kingdom) on Jun 23, 2024

The Royal Scot Hotel is a quaint little hotel in Victoria. It is quite old fashioned but very clean and tidy. The people on reception were very friendly and helpful in explaining places of interest to us and also provided a free taxi service to be dropped off at different places. We took advantage of this and was dropped off in Chinatown and then we walked back through the city. The rooms in the Royal Scot were huge! The hotel was quiet although we knew it wasn't empty! We used the washing facilities here and also went for a swim and jacuzzi whilst the washing was being done. The fridge and microwave came in handy and we brought food at the local supermarket and made our own dinner one night.

Fantastic location and a great price.

This place is a perfect location… right round the back of the Parliament building (a stones throw from the Fairmont). We walked from here pretty much all over Victoria with minimal effort and time. The room decor is a little dated (as other reviewers have said) but I think that’s part of the charm! The most important factors are the friendliness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the rooms - both of which were outstanding. This place provides a sanctuary in the heart of Victoria and I would not only stay here again, but would recommend it to family and friends.

A bit dated but very comfortable

Daniel D (Oatley, Australia) on May 11, 2024

Stayed here for two nights as part of the tour. It’s an older building but nevertheless very comfortable. It comes with a kitchen so you can do your own cooking. Even bathrobe is provided. Location is central right behind the assembly with easy walk to everything. We arrived as a group and were greeted by a Scottish bagpiper. Room is spacious and clean. Service is good. Only thing is before I checked out this morning housekeeping kept pushing my door. Maybe they were assuming I already left and trying to clean the room. Anyway it’s a good hotel.

abusive behavior by General Manager.

Mel G (Victoria, Canada) on Apr 28, 2024

The facilities were fine. I booked for 6 nights and then requested a change to 5 nights and an upgrade. When we arrived the upgrade had been arranged but the 6 night booking was still on my account. I tried to get an explanation but the staff said they couldn't do anything about it. When I was at the front desk seeking an explanation, the General Manager came barreling around a corner poking his finger at my chest like the bully he is and said it's YOUR FAULT. There's nothing we can do. He then hustled out the door to his king cab truck awaiting there. I said sure: "Hustle Away". He got out of the truck and came at me ready to fight. I repeated...'Just be on your way. This type of abusive behavior is the stuff that could have led me to charge. him.
