Overall disappointing, but not all bad!
TMN10 (London, United Kingdom) on Dec 05, 2025
We were disappointed with this hotel for a number of reasons though there were pros as well as cons! It’s in a good location, walkable into Holetown, the pool areas and gardens are nice, the rooms clean and comfortable. However, our ‘loft’ room was on the 4th floor up some rickety steep stairs with no lift so I think people should be warned in advance it’s not suitable for people with any mobility issues. It did have a great sea view though! The food is pretty bland and dishes very repetitive, sad because there are some fantastic restaurants on Barbados. Breakfast is the best meal of the day. The resort is let down by the attitude of the staff, especially in the restaurant where the service is slow and often surly. By no means all staff, reception, some on the bar and some of the women servicing the rooms were lovely, but too many are quite rude. Overall the resort looks a bit ‘tired’. We booked it because the Tamarind where we have stayed before is closed for refurbishment, and because it’s next to stunning (but enormously expensive) Sandy Lane where some relatives were staying. Joining them for dinner there rather spoiled us for anywhere else!
Not a Hotel for Coeliacs
Steveb5708 (Formby, United Kingdom) on Dec 04, 2025
Firstly, if you are Coeliac or have a gluten intolerance then think again before booking this hotel. We spent two weeks constantly requesting that buffet food or al a carte menus to be clearly labelled as to what was gluten free (GF). Most of the restaurant staff either didn't understand or didn't care. The exception was Carmella who did manage to get the kitchen staff to mark up buffet food for two days (however, we never saw her after that). The hotel manager hid behind the disclaimer, but this should not be used as an excuse to ignore the condition or to not make any effort to ensure any gluten free food is not contaminated. There was clear evidence of the potential for cross contamination (eg mixed deserts, including GF, being presented on the same platter). That aside, the hotel is ok. Rooms were a good size and well looked after (in our case Indira...a lovely woman). The bar staff were excellent, with a shout out to Tino, Jamal, Owen and Vinny in particular (everyone else was good as well, I just can't remember all the names). Food ranged from fair (buffet food) to excellent (al a carte nights). The Lamb Curry in Enid's was particularly nice. Both Enid's and the Rum Shack look as if they could do with some new decoration, and the air con in Enid's is severe. There is no beach as such, but the sunbeds at the back of the hotel are in a sandy area overlooking the ocean. The hotel is a 10-15 minute stroll to Holetown and there is a large supermarket you will pass by or use on your way there if needed. Unfortunately, the constant concern regarding food and the lack of concern shown by staff/management, relating to this medical condition, was a spoiler to what should have been an excellent holiday.
Number 2

Let’s get the bad out off the way 1 the hotel attracts a lot of the elderly who really think they have a god given right to get served / tables / drinks before any one else. They are also very ignorant and arrogant to other holiday makers and staff. 2 guests that have come back year after year really do think they own the hotel no queuing for a table just walk in and sit down. Stand at the bar and obstructing other people from getting served.the looks they give guest that have just been the once is unreal. Right the good stuff The manager / staff and all associated with the hotel are absolutely first class nothing is too much trouble for any of them. They have to put up with a lot especially from the older customer as they think they are there just for them and some times it’s hard for them to keep every one happy but with a great effort they do. The rooms are fine just what you want clean and tidy and serviced every day yes they could do with a little up date but all you do is sleep and get changed in them. The bar area and pool areas are very clean and tidy and the bar is well stocked and coffee shop open at 6.30am for morning coffee. The entertainment is ok but a bit backward as before 10 it’s all slow love ie doves songs really slow and make you feel tied so many guests go to bed then after 10 it’s like a disco great tunes lively music and the bar area is just about empty. We have had no problems with the food in the restaurant it’s all been first class yes the service is a little slow sometimes but the staff are flat out trying to keep everyone happy.also guests sitting at there table for 2/3 hours does not help when trying to seat people for there meals. Then again that’s where the elderly and the regulars think they should come first and sod the rest.it really does cause a problem for the staff that they do not need. All in all had a great holiday infact loved everything about it.
Amazing West Coast experience

This is an amazing place that is more affordable for the location! The reality is people are comparing this resort to Sandy Lane which to be fair is in a league of its own. This resort is well managed and catered for. Nothing is too much trouble. Poolside is relaxing and upbeat in equal measures whilst beachside is typical west coast Caribbean, heaven! We will definitely be coming back. We stayed (are staying ) in 330 which is a garden/pool view room, lovely in the evenings to sit out and take in the vista. The bar also serves premium brand alcohol which is very unusual for an all inclusive resort (not that I’m complaining!) Thank you to Caroline and all of her conscientious staff.
It's Not What You Expect...which is a shame.

Its the best stretch of the Caribbean, right next to Sandy Lane in Hole town. In fairness its a quaint hotel and perfect for people of a certain age BUT: It is very basic. It doesn't have a beach. It has one small pool. It has a buffet and a room upstairs that is allegedly a caribbean restaurant but it really isnt very nice and has no windows. The gym is basic at best. The staff are wonderful The rooms are pleasant without being special. If you love Barbados then this location is lovely. I believe its the nicest part of the coast but, if Im honest, its not worth the money. I'd rate it as a 3 star hotel. I'd say pay a bit more and get multiple restaurants, a quality gym, more than one pool and a beach to sit on.
