Great Stay

99please (Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom) on Feb 14, 2024

I really enjoyed my stay at the Club, the following made the stay for me; - Room – I booked a superior garden view, but ended up in a fourth-floor room which had a large balcony, huge king-sized bed, large bathroom and smart tv. I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evening, relaxing to the sound of the waves and the tree frogs. Beach Bar – The location of the bar is great, right on the oceanfront. The staff were the most friendly and hard working in the whole resort. The standard of drinks was great, cocktails are made fresh to order, more branded drinks were available than expected, Grey Goose Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Tanqueray Gin, and JW Black for whiskey. The bar stays open until 10.00 pm, many resorts close their beach bars at 6pm.This was the perfect spot for pre or post dinner drinks, or watching the sun go down. Team – 99% of the team are excellent, they appear to be happy and well-motivated, and are a credit to the hotel. Especially the beach bar team. Food – well there’s plenty of it! Breakfast is Breakfast, pretty standard offering bacon, sausages, cold meats, cereals, eggs cooked to order. Bakery items could have been better. Lunch – You could either take the buffet option in the restaurant, pretty standard resort fayre but varied throughout the week. A menu was also available at the beach bar, usual burgers, pizza wraps etc served 12 until 6. Dinner was a mix of buffet and al a carte, reasonable choice and always fresh, the buffet food never felt like it had been sitting a sweating on the buffet for ages. Personally, I would have preferred more local and spicy options, some of the dishes I found to be bland. What could they do better? Well, every review mentions it, they really need to solve the sunbed issue, it’s out of control here and they need to get a grip on this. Coffee Bar was not really a coffee bar, just a coffee machine at one end of the bar, poor offering here, no pastries in the morning, the fridge just seemed to have left over deserts from the restaurant the night before. Overall, a great stay, at a relatively affordable price compared to other AI’s on the west coast, the hotel could well do with some capital investment, however for me it had the Caribbean charm that I first fell in love with when I first visited Barbados in 1991.

Great holiday. Very pleasantly surprised.

Having read recent reviews before we left the UK we were somewhat concerned about our pending holiday at The Club Barbados. As soon as we arrived we were delighted with our choice. We had a warm and efficient check in with CathyAnne. Our room 314 was fabulous. We opted for an Ocean room with a Juliette balcony which was a great decision. The room was clean, very spacious and had a stunning sea view. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The room had a kettle as well as a coffee machine. The fridge was cold so we were able to store fresh milk for tea which we able to collect from the bar. The hairdryer in the room was excellent. The bathroom was perfectly adequate and was thoroughly cleaned every day. The housekeeping staff were excellent - special mention to Juliet who did a great job of cleaning our room. Excellent freshly made coffee was available from the coffee shop from 6:30am. every morning. Thank you to the lovely young lady who was so sweet. She seemed very quiet at first but engaged more and more as time went on. I am sure her name is Victoria but my husband says it's Antonia. Loungers around the pool are an issue! There are many Brits at the resort, including myself, so the time difference of 4 hours means we woke early. Beds with parasols around the pool are generally all taken by 5:45am which is rather crazy. However I think if there were more parasols it would ease the problem slightly. The pool area is delightful. One aqua aerobics class every day. Not my thing but people seemed to be having fun. The gym was good. Plenty of equipment. Stretch class every day. Would recommend the guided walk. Food was plentiful although the standard varied. Pool/ beach side option for lunch was great. Rashad, serving outdoor meals at lunchtime, was efficient, attentative and friendly. Omelettes are highly recommended for breakfast. The beach bar staff are fun & Fabulous. fabulous and fun. Kareen was a joy. Owen was always so polite. All premium brands were available. As is known before arriving at The Club there is no beach. However there are many loungers which are placed so there is a truly stunning sea view. Easy walk to Holetown beach. Turn left out of the hotel, walk along the road until you come to an alley way ( all very safe) and then turn right to the brach. The walk takes no longer than 5-6 minutes. You can walk along Sandy Lane Beach and swim there when the tide is low. I would highly recommend beach shoes. We have stayed at the sister hotel in St. James, Antigua and believe this hotel is a far better choice for a holiday. Caroline the GM was frequently on hand to answer questions and it was apparent she is doing her utmost to enhance everyone's stay.

Having just returned from a 10 day vacation at the club Barbados I’d just like to add a few thoughts, Barbados is not a cheap island and the value for money at the club is excellent the a la carte menu was excellent (for all inclusive) premium branded drinks included (ask for them tho!) the wine for evening meals was really good tho I didn’t find out till half way through as I’m a bit picky about wine and refused to try it early on??the hotel was clean and tidy the room I had (232) was more than adequate air con worked better than most I’ve stayed in and the bed was soo comfortable after a long day sunning and drinking! The staff were helpful and friendly especially the restaurant waiters and Sofia behind the bar, check her out for rum tasting if you dare??yes there were times the bar staff were stressed but being in the industry I fully understand it and in 30 degrees it wasn’t easy for them but they managed, no beach wasn’t an issue for us 2 mins your on sandy lanes which is stunning!it can be a bit lively getting to it if the sea is choppy and probably not for ones not good on there feet, overall if your looking for a value for money in Barbados I doubt you’d better it! Would I go back absolutely (already looking) would I put anyone off definitely not as long as your not expecting opulence if you are then I recommend sandy lane at 5 times the price! Overall excellent and well done to all the team at club barbados hope to see you next year????

Good value for money resort.

Having read some of the negative reviews I was slightly concerned before we arrived. We have stayed in a number of all inclusive resorts in Barbados and while this was the cheapest one we have stayed in it was on a par with a number of others. Overall we felt we had a good value for money stay at the resort. Our room was very spacious with a separate living area with good air conditioning. As with most hotels in Barbados the decor is somewhat dated and the bathroom although perfectly adequate could do with upgrading. The food was good with a wide choice at the buffet breakfast and lunch. The dinner menu had a good choice and was mainly served rather than a buffet. We had two meals at Enids - one was very good unfortunately the second was very average. Both bars were good and the coffee served from the coffee area was very good. Staff were generally very friendly and very willing to make your stay enjoyable. There are plenty of sunbeds both around the pool and on the sandy area facing the sea - unfortunately many are saved with towels, a book or the odd shoe from 6am. I am an early riser so would get up and sit on my bed till breakfast and see that the majority of these beds were not used until well after 9am and in some cases later than that. I think the resort needs to stop this by removing towels if they are left unattended for too long as I certainly wasn't the only one that found this annoying. The garden area is very pleasant with a limited number of beds. The biggest downside to the resort is the lack of a beach although when the tide is out and the sea not too rough it is easy to walk across to the Sandy Lane bay. It was good to see the General Manager most mornings at breakfast as often the only time you see them is at the hotel's Manager's reception. We enjoyed our stay and if there was a beach we would certainly return.

Wonderful Caribbean holiday

TGMotorhomelover on Feb 11, 2024

We have recently returned from a fabulous holiday at this resort. The food was good, staff very helpful and friendly and the cocktails , especially from the beach bar were amazing! We met lots of like minded people and really enjoyed the morning walks lead from reception. The only drawback was the swell in the sea really cut back the sea sport availability. Would love to come back again soon.
