5 star grounds but the rest decreased to a 3-4 star resort

Came here the 3rd time since 2021, overall it has decreased in a lot of ways! The food quality wasn't special before but we feel that it has decreased even more since then and the choice hasn't gotten better! The only plus are the cats eventhough no one is taking care of them except some guests. The hotel should really see what a plus they are for the guests and even t keep mice and rats away!
Fantastic from start to finish

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Many staff went above and beyond but we’d like to particularly mention Leonela (our concierge) and Santa (our housekeeper) were fantastic. Every detail was taken care of and we appreciate everything you did. James & Paul

AVOID AVOID ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A YOUNG GIRL

I would never recommend this hotel, especially to women travelling together. We are three girls in our early twenties who came to celebrate a birthday, and we left feeling robbed, frightened and completely unsupported. My friend’s £556 AirPods Max disappeared from her bag inside our locked hotel room. We have video evidence showing them in the room, and Find My later tracked them several hours away on the other side of the country. Our room had not been cleaned, serviced or restocked, yet the hotel confirmed that a staff key entered it. They still have not explained why that person entered or provided the access records. They also claimed there was no CCTV. I was in the room when another incident happened. My friend and I were asleep when someone began aggressively and repeatedly banging on our door. My friend was naked and opened the door only slightly because she recognised him as someone she had seen working around the hotel. He then tried to push his way inside, grab and grope her. I heard her screaming as she physically fought to keep the door closed while he pushed against her from outside. Our other friend heard the screaming from the next room and ran over to help. The hotel simply moved us to another room. We missed dinner because police were called, went to bed hungry and spent the rest of our holiday paranoid and struggling to sleep. We received no proper safeguarding, independent translator, compensation or genuine support. Hotel staff were then allowed to speak for us at the police station, even though the hotel was part of our complaint. Police and hotel staff sent us back and forth leaving us with the transport bill even though we were led to believe that they were “co ordinating” our trip to report 2 incidents within their hotel. They refused to give over evidence or a statement refusing and sent us to the police who also refused/ were no help and said we would need a lawyer to receive it. Obviously they are all in cahoots because resorts and tourism help the economy so why would the police try and help implicate one of them? Even the resort merchants constantly pressured us, refused to accept “no” and became annoyed when we would not fall for their tactics. I was almost pressured into paying RD$2,500 for a simple bracelet while the seller tried to distract and rush me. We tipped staff and shared cake and most of them were amazing to us but ultimately our trip was ruined. Guests should be able to trust that their belongings and bodies are safe inside a locked hotel room. Ours were not.
we will return!
