Overpriced and needs refinement to compete with other Caribbean 5 star resorts

Beach - 4/5 - great, water is clear. Seems to be nicer at key West/Italian village end with less rocks in the water and less sea weed vs treasure beach and carribean end. Activities - 3/5 - General ones in the evening are done well however with the kids activities during the day for sports and other types of activities it was not as well organized as other AI resorts. There were activities at the kids and teen club advertised and when our kids went to participate very few kids were there. These aren't communicated in the app and so it seems people may not be aware. Other resorts do a better job by also making announcements at the pool and encouraging kids to participate. Accomodations and facilities 2/5- Caribbean rooms are very dated and well worn. For what we paid per night these are a major disappointment. We have paid less and got 5 star modern rooms. These had damage and very dated looks, with musky smell. Rooms are way over priced and this part of the resort is in need of significant remodel. Beyond the rooms, the Caribbean pools all need a remodel, showing a lot of wear, missing tiles and other damage. Even Italian village pool shows significant wear. The good news is you can use nicer pools at Treasure still. Food - 3.5/5 -The restaurant food was decent. We had good steak at Pintos and butches. Neptunes also had good fish. There is some refinement needed for this resorts price point - food came out cold a number of times (Neptunes and Schooners). The buffets should have more cook to order station options to improve quality as well. Service - 3/5 - Restaurant service was typically slow. Hibachi we sat waiting for 30 mins for the chef to show and they didn't do any of the typical hibachi experiences we have seen at other resorts and restaurants. Generally service was slow at most restaurants vs other resorts we have been to as well. Service at the front desk was hit or miss too. We had issues with the Internet in our room and we were told it would be addressed that night or by next morning and still not resolved next evening and had to followup again. Eventually got resolved. Value - 2/5 - We expected a lot more after staying at places like Grand Moon Palace (Mexico), Hyatt Ziva (Punta Cana), and Hotel Xcaret (Mexico). All these places excelled in other areas over beaches, like beaches, pool, room quality, or activities and cost similar or less per night. Obviously you don't get a beach with as clear water as Turks but we personally didn't think the beach at Turks was enough to make up for the short falls at this resort.

Let me start with genuine positives: the location is stunning, some of the staff are wonderfully warm and attentive, and my 12-year-old son had a great time with the amenities and activities available for kids. If you’re measuring success purely by whether your child is entertained, Beaches delivers on that front. Those are real credits and I won’t dismiss them. I also want to be clear about who we are as travelers: we are easygoing, go-with-the-flow people. We don’t nitpick. We don’t look for problems on vacation. We actively try to enjoy ourselves and let things roll off our backs. I say that so you understand — when people like us are writing a two-star review, something went genuinely, seriously wrong. Room Promises Mean Nothing — And I Have the Ticket Numbers to Prove It I didn’t just show up hoping for adjoining rooms. I addressed this issue nine months before our arrival. I have the ticket numbers to prove it. Every confirmation. Every follow-up. Documented. The very first thing we did upon arriving — before we even settled in — was raise this issue. We were told immediately that there were no adjoining rooms available in our “price point.” Our price point. At $23,000. That response was so condescending and so tone-deaf that it became a running joke between my family for the rest of the trip. We laughed because the alternative was far worse. We left the resort three separate times over 10 nights just to get a decent meal — and the food off property wasn’t just better, it was significantly better in every way. Between those meals we shouldn’t have needed to buy, we spent an additional $1,200 out of pocket on top of our $23,000 booking. When you’re paying that much for an all-inclusive and spending hundreds more just to eat adequately, the entire value proposition of this resort collapses completely. Inconsistent Service — Including Staff Who Were Downright Mean The staff is a deeply mixed bag. A handful were outstanding — genuinely some of the friendliest resort employees I’ve encountered anywhere. But far too many were disengaged and indifferent, and some were downright mean. Not rushed, not having a bad day — mean. That is not acceptable at any price point, let alone this one. Beaches should seriously consider moving to a tipping model. Nothing incentivizes attentive, motivated service like allowing guests to reward those who earn it. The current flat model appears to breed complacency at best and outright hostility at worst. The Departure “Experience” Says It All If you needed any final confirmation that Beaches views its guests as cattle rather than people, look no further than checkout. They herd you into a departure center, pack you in, and — I wish I were making this up — have you sing a song. It’s patronizing, bizarre, and puts an infantilizing bow on what should have been a premium vacation. It felt less like a fond farewell and more like crowd control with a jingle. Final Word I have traveled extensively and stayed at many luxury resorts around the world. My son had a wonderful time — and that matters. But I will not return to Beaches. Ever. That is not frustration talking — it is a considered decision made by two easygoing people who gave this resort every benefit of the doubt and were failed at nearly every turn. We paid $23,000 for an all-inclusive and spent an additional $1,200 eating off property just to have decent meals. Do the math. For that money, the adults in your party deserve far better. Go elsewhere — or send your kids alone.
