The best entertainment team!

Jenna N on Oct 02, 2024

This is the second time I took my family to Beaches, Turks and Caicos. Both times were wonderful experiences This time was very special due to the entertainment team! Every night my kids were so excited to see Ronaldo perform on the guitar. Besides his amazing talent, he is an exceptional role model for my kids talking about music and playing volleyball. My kids still talk about him! Definitely will be back.

Turks (Sept 21-26)

Q3151KMjoshuam (Atlanta, Georgia) on Oct 02, 2024

This was our first trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos. We’ve been to both Negril & Ocho, so I wasn’t 100% what to expect. I’m a big fan of Negril because the beach, diving, restaurants and the resort are great. To start I was not looking forward to this trip at all! We tried to upgrade rooms to a 1 bedroom two weeks prior and knew and understood we would pay the differences in room price, which was no problem. But then we were told a $200 per person change fee would be changed. I said heck no I didn’t mind paying the room different cost but not also the change fee per person. I told them that is fine and I would never spend a dime with them again. They had the rooms and I was willing to pay another $2,000+ but that change fee set me off! Unfortunately, the trip was already paid in full so I was going. Well, when we arrived we were told we were “upgraded” to a 1 bedroom in the Italian village, because we were loyal customers and the number of nights we have stayed at either a beaches or sandals got us an upgrade. That was very nice and changed my view of the entire trip. I told my wife I would now be open to visiting a beaches or sandals again. Still didn't make sense because two weeks earlier I was willing to pay for an upgrade. Anyways, the room was great. The Italian village was awesome because we had a great view of the main pool and you really saw all the “action” in the main pool, and it was close to everything. Stay in the Italian village if you want to be at the center of everything. I was very scared at first going to Turks because all I heard about was how packed it was and there was a line for everything. I watched hours of view on tips of how to avoid the long lines and wait time, well, traveling in September was great because we didn't need any major restaurant tips. We only waited 2 nights for more than 5 minutes and that was about 30 minutes for dinner at schooners & sapodillas. Outside of those two we went to soy, sky, and marios for dinner. Kimonos was the only place that took reservations so we were able to walk right to our table. For lunch we went to Arizonas, Bella, Barefoot, the pub, dinos, Mr Mac and had no wait. We had a great experience with all the restaurants but at The pub during Sunday night football. After we ate at Schooners we wanted to go to the Pub to watch Sunday night football. We were waiting for about 10 minutes at the door and no one came so we just sat down so we could watch the game. There wasn’t even 10 other people in there. Only 2 tables had people at them, but all the other tables were still dirty from where people were. We picked one that was the cleanest and I cleared it the best I could. After 20 minutes of no one coming up to us yet I had it and I went to get the attention of servier and asked if they could clean our table and get some drinks and food. They made a comment that I should have waited at the door until they welcomed us, so I just asked to speak to a manager. A person in a suit came and I explained to them we waited at the door for about 10 minutes and no one even came over so we sat down then after about another 20 minutes of no one coming over I asked for service. He apologized and served us the rest of the game personality. That was our only negative experience with eating. My wife did go to barefoot for lunch one day by herself and had good fun but once the waiter brought her food and drink she didn't see them again. Most of the food was good and the majority of them were really good! Schooners, Sapodillas, Kimonos, Sky, and Soy were great!! Everything the entire family ate at these restaurants was great. Those are a must. Sky is a great date night meal. Get there early so you can get a table nearest the oceanside. Beautiful view! We did hear that since they weren’t at full capacity some of the workers weren’t on their game 100%, which I could see and I would say we probably experienced that 2-3 times, but overall service was very good and the people were friendly! My daughter and I went diving 8 different times and had a great time. The guides do a great job taking care of you and making sure you have a great experience. They have cold water, fresh fruit, and baked goods after each dive for you to enjoy. We didn't get to see a lot of sharks but the North Shore Side is the best area to dive! My daughter went to the spa and had a great time getting her nails done. For pools, we stayed at the Italian Village pool. It wasn't crazy busy at all I would say about ½ of the chairs were being used or had a towel on them. We liked that area because of the large bar and the people-watching. Plus, our room was right there. Someone said the resort was only at like 20% capacity, which seems light but I could totally see that. It really reminded me of Negril because people weren't on top of you and that was my biggest fear. The water park was fun and we went to it for a few days, but we enjoyed just hanging out at the pool bar and meeting and talking to new people each day. For returning guests, they had a luncheon which was just ok. It was like an hour with a variety of food, 2 bingo games, the dancers, and 2 giveaways. If I could go back I would have just gone to another restaurant or gotten to go and ate at the pool. Overall, it was a great experience and they made it up to me with the upgrade and a few other things. We did book another sandals and Turks trip in the coming years. I think I give the edge to Turks vs Negril. The two biggest reasons why is because at Negril the drive to and from the airport takes forever compared to 15 minutes plus my wife feels at Negril outside people were always trying to sell her “stuff” and weed vs Turks where security does a great job keeping people from selling you stuff. Outside the people offering parasailing, we were never approached on the beach to buy something. Turks is a must if you like the Sandals/beaches brand. Go during Sept when it's not high times!!

Not worth the money

MartinLeber (Johns Creek, Georgia) on Oct 01, 2024

This resort is everything but luxury. Staff is extremely rude, the noise and dust from the different construction sides on the property makes it not enjoyable, cheese at the breakfast buffet had mold on it. Asking for a bathroom and being told to use the champagne cooler was not the answer is expected to hear. Due to the way how it was advertised, we had high expectations but left this resort pretty disappointed.

Another Amazing Trip to Paradise!!

D0ubleK2 (Los Angeles, California) on Sep 29, 2024

This is our favorite place to come for a beach vacation as you can't beat Grace Bay. The Beaches Turks & Caicos resort and team are the best in the business. We come back here again and again but during this trip we had a party of 8 with 2 suites and we were assigned in the always lovely Key West Resort in 2 bedroom 2 story concierge suites. These are very spacious with 2 rooms, washer/dryer, kitchen, living room, a stocked refrigerator and a great location. The restaurants were excellent, the beach is always phenomenal, and the pools were so much fun. It's nice to also have a water park and lazy river to mix the day up with variety. We were also able to go on a hobie cat, kayaking, snorkeling off of the shore, or just simply relaxing at the beach in crystal clear water. We saw so many fishes, including several sightings of turtles and sting rays. We even saw a dolphin come up to the dock one day -- it was so exciting!! Jamie (GM) and his entire team were excellent to make our wonderful trip very special with precious memories. I will take some time to give a shout out to the excellent staff that helped up make this trip so special. Ronaldo - welcoming us & making us feel at home Davina/Dionne - loyalty - very helpful Shakem - at the French restaurant was greate Imee and Jesse at Soy Sushi Rubi and Jamesly at Schooners Santa - friendly housekeeper Julia at Sky was excellent and making sure to look out for us with any special requests Jahbarie at Sapodillas helped wait for our table well - he was excellent. At Kimonos - chef Mickedo was excellent and our family and friends loved his singing and interaction: our waiter Greg was also very attentive and did an excellent job. Joey at the VIP brunch bar was excellent with our drinks Always great to see Ghislain checking in as well many times through out our stay Sheldon - another familiar face greeting us during our stay Susan at Bella Napoli was fun doing a dance challenge with several of us Ronaldo greeted several of us every day at the shows - so much fun Nelson was great at the hobie cat doing extra tricks out in the water Paulia at Neptunes breakfast was great with our breakfast serving us A great time with Abdul our favorite omelette maker at Reflections - we always have to visit him. Prophet at the aquatics center - great to catch up and very helpful Christine at Reflections was very helpful giving us Saran Wrap to take some sandwiches on our trip away The great culinary team - Chefs Ernest and Craig for making several dining experiences extra special with cakes and other items + a special seafood platter sent up to our rooms. Plus GM Jamie - catching up with him and checking in with us from time to time during our visit until checkout. We will be back again for sure -- until next time!

Great Family Vacation

Daniel W (Visalia, California) on Sep 28, 2024

We did an extended family vacation with 16 of us (six adults and 10 kids raging from11-26 years of age). We had a great time. It was really all that we hoped for. We enjoy doing the all-inclusive vacation, especially with the extended family, because we don’t worry about the price of things. Yes, this is a very expensive trip. But, we paid for it months in advance. And, when we were there, we did not have to pay for anything. And it is a nice way to have a relaxing vacation without worrying about the big bill after every meal or at checkout. It makes it easy for the kids to run around the resort and order whatever they want. Much more fun just ordering things without stressing about the costs of things. Getting in and out of the resort was pretty easy. Upon arrival to the airport, we got our bags and headed outside to get loaded up into the buses. It seemed pretty well organized. We did fly in on a Tuesday afternoon which may have helped with the crowds. It was a short drive to the resort. And, when we got there, at the Key West resort, they had a drink and cool washcloth, waiting for us. The check-in process was quite easy. They asked us the types of drinks we wanted to have in our room, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The concierge was able to get us reservations for dinner, every night. That was super nice as normally a lot of these places do not take reservations (other than Kimonos). so definitely ask when you’re checking in if you can make dinner reservations for your entire stay. It made a very easy. We did not have to wait anywhere. We also got reservations for a Bay cruise, glass bottom, boat, cruise, and we booked some massages. Checking out was a little more complicated. This was probably due to the fact that some of the flights were delayed, including ours. Thus, we had to wait a bit longer to get our shuttle back to the airport. It worked out fine, but we were a little worried about the timing of it all. Fortunately, we flew out on a Monday afternoon, and the airport was not crowded at all. Some in our group paid for the express checkout at the airport. It was not necessary because the airport was not that crowded, so made no difference. Note that the airport is very small and gets pretty crowded. The beach is spectacular. Long, clean, no rocks,no seaweed in the water was a nice perfect temperature. It was full, but never crowded. We could always get beach chairs and umbrellas. Yes, the earlier you get out there better the location of your chairs and umbrella might be. But, Even getting there around nine or 10 AM. We could always find a number of chairs. Towels were sometimes a problem and hard to find. So, grab yours early. And, periodically during the day if you see some extra ones, you may want to grab them as well. We liked the area by the pier because it was close to the jerk shack and the dive bar. So it was an easy walk to get some snacks and cocktails. Then, we would float in the ocean and enjoy our drinks. The pools were all spectacular. Again, this tends to get a little more crowded. So the earlier you can get out there to get chairs and shade the better. There are a lot of “reserved“ chairs. Those are usually for the people with the butler service. But, it was not hard to find a few chairs and shade. And, we tended to just float in the pool most of the time. We really enjoyed the large signature pool at the Italian village. The swim up bar was very nice.. And, there are a lot of restaurants nearby where you could get takeout (like the pub) and eat it out at the pool. About halfway into our trip, we discovered the signature pool in the French village. It was much less crowded. It also had a good swim up bar. It has a nice big hot tub. It seemed to be a little less populated and quieter. But, for our family, it was a nice place just to hang out and float. We also did one late afternoon or early evening at the pool at the Seaside Village. That also had a swim up bar. It was not crowded at all. We were able to get a nice family pool volleyball game going at it has a net and ball for that. The water park and lazy river was nice. However, the place is very, very crowded with smaller kids. That’s perfect for younger families. We spent some time there with some of our group. But, most of our time was spent at the bigger pools. Overall, the food was fine. Certainly not great, but always very good. And all inclusive places, you have to know that the quality of the food may not be five star. But, it was all definitely very good. So, just temper your expectations. Marios was very good. Similar to an Olive Garden. It had some self-serve appetizers, soup, and light pasta (which was good for small kids). Giuseppe‘s was also good. It is all buffet style, so very convenient. But they do make your own pasta dish while you were there. You can select a number of different proteins and vegetable options, cream, or red sauce, and they make it up for you right there. That was very fresh and tasty. Bobbie Dees was fun inconvenient because it stayed open so late. It was very crowded during the day. But, it was a nice place to go for a very late night (or early morning) snack or milkshake. My daughter had one bad meal there when the food seemed to be a little tainted. but that was rectified. Café de Paris with a great place to go to get snacks and good coffee. The French restaurant was quite good and some people said it was their best meal of the entire trip. Cricketers Pub was a good place to go for a late night drink. They have some pool tables. You can also get some bar food there. Pretty good wings and burgers. They had karaoke there from 9 to 10 PM . It got a little loud. But it was something fun to do and watch. Kimonos what’s the best experience of the trip. Make sure you get a reservation there no matter what. Our chef was Cookie. He was hilarious. He was singing and entertaining us the entire time. The food was all quite good as well. Skye is a beautiful location. We had reservations for dinner there one night. It does have a minimum age requirement of 12 years old. We tried to go with my niece, who is 11, and they questioned her on her age, and then asked her room number to verify her age. They would not let her eat there. That was a little frustrating, but a rule is a rule. So, our entire group took some beautiful pictures there and then left and ate elsewhere. Just know that they do check and verify ages. The jerk shack was tasty and convenient as it is just a few steps from the beach. The macaroni and cheese truck was also pretty good. It is right by the waterpark so very convenient. The pizza at Dino’s was good. But it took 45 minutes to an hour to get the pizza during the busy lunchtime. So just make sure you put in your order early. We had sushi at Soy one night. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. All I know, the service was always good. The people were friendly and helpful. And, the food was good. The scuba was very good. I am a certified diver so I got to go every day. At first, I thought that you had to show up each morning to put in a reservation for the following day, first come first serve. But, when I got there, they let me sign up for the scuba boats every day of my trip, which I did. So every morning, I would get down there and have two dives. Overall, the equipment was good and the dive masters were very good. My only complaint is that they took us to many of the same sites multiple times. That was unfortunate but out of my control. I would be back off the boat by 11:30 or noon to meet my family to spend the rest of the day. My son and nephew also did their pool and ocean scuba certification training. They had already done the online course. That worked out well. But it takes a couple of days. Reading about it, you think you can get it all done in one day. But I think it took them three days altogether to get it done. But, they got certified and were able to die with us the rest of the trip. One warning, be careful with the medic goal certification. If you check, yes to anything, you need to bring with a signed certification or clearance from your doctor. My brother-in-law who has high cholesterol checked, yes, on that box and they would not let him dive until his doctor sent over a medical clearance slip. The same for my other brother-in-law who had knee surgery 11 months before the trip. He checked the box that said he had had surgery within one year. Again, they would not let him dive without the certification form completed. So they missed out a couple of days of diving while their doctor signed and emailed over the form. Just make sure you get the form signed off before you get there. We did not participate in too much of the scheduled entertainment. We did go to the family feud night. And sat through a few of the other shows. They were fine. Not great. But again, we were really not all that interested in the shows. Our room was perfect. The room was cleaned and restocked every afternoon. There were plenty of drinks and water. When we needed more, we would call down and they would restock it. Plenty of towels restocked every day. The room had a washer and dryer, which was great. I highly recommend the Key West village. It was quiet at night, but close to everything that we needed or wanted. We were right by the Bayside restaurant and bar. And, there were two pools just outside of our room. There was six of us in a 2 bedroom and two bathroom Key West concierge.
