Great value for money!

We ended up choosing this resort because the price was so good, and so went in with low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised at how much better it was than we thought it might be. The service was amazing- constantly being offered drinks at the pool, never having to wait long for drinks at the lobby bar. The buffet restaurant was always clean- waiters always asking of we needed anything else and always with a smile. The Mole and Taco restaurant exceeded our expectations (the braised beef was awesome!) and again, great service with friendly waiters making sure we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the activities at the pool (water aerobics, water polo). The night market at the Marina on Thursday night was also such a treat! It is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The only negative thing to say is that the birds are a bit loud in the morning so bring your earplugs (and you will be fine)! And it is about a 15 minute UBER to the Malecon.
Great family hotel!

Just returning from a week at Melia with a family of five. Overall I think this resort was great for a family trip. Our kids (8, 5 and 5) had an awesome time. While I think this resort is 4 stars the service and the staff are truly five stars all around! ?????????? I wanted to give some specific comments below: Room: we had a family room with a bunk bed and two doubles. This was good wit younger kids but if our kids were teens I think we would need two rooms. We were on the first floor which I was thankful for. I think our room might have been considered upgraded but it wasn’t so fancy or new. We couldn’t get the lights around the bed to work and it showed wear. The toilet and sink was all together with just a little wall to partition the toilet. I alway prefer a separate door to the toilet ?? The mini bar has beer and pop and water bottles. Even though we were a family of five they would just leave us a random number of towels. If we left a note asking for more towels they would leave them! The service was good in that way. Food: we mostly ate at the buffet. The food was always changing and seemed to have a lot of local options. One think I would suggest is that they should constantly have kid specific options at the buffet. They always had cereal (even at dinner which was weird but my kids loved) but they didn’t always have Mac and cheese or chicken fingers or fries at the dinner buffet. I know it’s annoying to cater to kids but I think it would be good to have some of those things for them. We never had to wait for the buffet and we had great service. Thank you to Raul who always served us at breakfast and trod his best to teach us Spanish (we are bad students) and Rocio who learned the kids names and was an excellent hostess. We ate at one à la carte: mole and tacos. The first time it was excellent. Thank you to Daniel for excellent service. Get the braised beef it was the best thing I ate all week! They also had a chocolate cake that was amazing and melty the first time and cold and bleh the second time we had it. Amenities and kids club: probably the highlight of our week was how much our kids enjoyed the kids club. They post a sign every morning with the activities and you can drop your kids off at the starting time and pick them up after the activity is over or they can stay for the bext one. Such a good format so they knew what they would be doing. Janet, Sara and Chrissy(I think) were so amazing. Janet is working so hard, she is there in the morning, noon and night! The kids loved the kids club workers and they are so kind and patient. The highlights for my kids were the mini spa, water balloons, chess, and so may games of uno! Thank you all three for making the trip for Amelia, Beatrice and Elizabeth! Also the entertainment team around the pool: Sofia, Chris, and the gentleman who did bingo and music trivia worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time. But it also wasn’t overwhelming or loud. Also, while we were there is was my daughters birthday. Lizbeth at customer service went above and beyond to make the day special for her. Thank you Lizbeth you made her day ?? Overall I would stay here again with my kids. I enjoyed that we could walk to the marina as well. There are pharmacies and other restaurants over there. Everyone is working so hard to make your stay exceptional and I am thankful for that!
