Great Place to Stay!!!

Curiosity16874264109 on Apr 11, 2026

Spent 10 incredible days at this resort. Plus, the marina is a must visit only a short walk away. To start all the staff at the resort were amazing! Smiling and greeting everyone. The food was very good especially at the Fish House. Our room was ocean front and the view was incredible. The staff in the dining-rooms were very attentive. Francisco in particular, was our favourite. He was great. Christian Rico was a bartender who you could tell that he loved his job making amazing drinks with flare. During one of the cooking lessons, Louis and Esahu taught us how to make the most really good guacamole! Esahu also took great care of us at the activity and towel centre. Last but not least was Hilda who took great care of our room. Aside from cleaning our room very well she would treat us every day to towel art and the curtain art which was quite nice. The staff kept the grounds spotless which I felt enhanced our stay. Would recommend Melia to anyone wanting to stay at a great resort.

One of our best experiences

English above for travellers, Spanish note below for the hotel. We like to travel to an all inclusive every couple of years, and out of the maybe 10 we've been to, this is #1 or 2. General notes: it isn't a super new hotel, but we didn't get a "whoa this is old" feeling either. It is a small-medium size by our estimation. Guests are generally a good mix of Canadian, American, and Mexican (from other parts of Mexico) tourists. It is not a "wild party resort" so if you're looking to go nuts it likely isn't for you, but on the flip side if you DON'T want to see that then this may be a plus. We also feel that they were a "yes" resort, as in if we needed help with something or made a reasonable request, their first response was to try to meet our request rather than push back on why they cannot. We were there for 2 weeks. Specifics: Food & Drinks: Awesome. A blend of authentic Mexican food (although if you don't know your tacos you might start to get confused by all the names for slightly different types haha) and food for more..Can-USA tastes. The breakfast bacon was honestly the closest to how we usually have it back home out of any resort we've been to. The quality of the food was overall excellent and we never felt that we were getting cheap or low-quality food. There are 2 specialty restaurants that were OK and a nice change up but didn't really blow our minds. The bartenders were all really competent and made the drinks well. The piña coladas were noticeably better than at other resorts we've been to, which I think is also related to them not "cheaping out" with low quality product. Staff: Amazing. Basically every person there was respectful and helpful to the best of their ability. They were excellent at their jobs (food, cleanliness, drinks, reception, etc). We got to know several but speak Spanish so I'm sure that helps. Kidsclub: Our kids are 7 and 3 and they had a hoot! They have various activities and the staff there seem to actually enjoy kids. Activities: A decent diversity and they have the schedule written by the pool every day. We tried out archery, batting, dance lessons, beach volleyball, and water polo. We honestly feel that this place runs a "tight ship" in a good way and are incredibly glad we chose this hotel!

Lovely Family Vacation

Carms0808 on Apr 09, 2026

We had a great time at the Melia in Puerto Vallarta. I love the fact that the hotel is so close to the downtown Marina area and there are many Ubers that are close by. The hotel itself could do with a few updates in the rooms, as we did have some issues but the staff were excellent and helped us right away. One thing I would avoid is buying sunscreen at the resort shop because it's at least double the price you would pay, at the Farmacia, which is a 7 minute walk away. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and I enjoyed all the restaurants tremendously. There were lot of activities for the kids to do and of course the pool and ocean was a highlight. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Got back yesterday. Solid 3 star but certainly not a 4. Second year in a row we have gone. Pros - Pool servers made the trip for us. Very attentive and funny. Always had a drink in our hands. Room was nice but had the usual mexico musty scent to it. Marina has nice restuarants and is good for an after dinner walk. Cons - Food was weak. Not a lot of variety and repeatative. The fish house restaurant was decent. Buffet does not open for dinner until 7pm which is pretty late after drinking and hanging at the beach all day. The snack shack food by the pool is not the best. Same every day. We were there during the start of the easter long weekend and most of the buffet staff definitely favoured the huge amount of spanish families when it came to service. Beach is nice but not a lot of beach to walk. HUGE issue at this resort is towelers. The last two days we could not find any loungers. 90% of seats were reserved with towels, shoes, hairclips, etc. by 7am. Lots of seats stay un-used until 11am or so. Security does nothing. Absolutely ridiculous to pay good money to not have a chair. I didnt go on vacation to have to get up at 530am to make sure I get a chair. Not a lot to do in this part of PV. We were content with booze and beach but if you are active on your vacay this is not the place for you. Won't be back.
