Meh*-lia

The hotel is nice enough but they need stronger a/c in the rooms, it’s really annoying waking up every morning to book your diner reservations between 10-12 and most the time they’ll be out of reservations which honestly was a huge drag always having to eat at the buffet. The snack bar needs some help too they need better quality burgers and hot dogs. As well as their is a lot of kids at this resort so be ready for that.. they also close the lobby bar up at 12 which sucked but the bar staff are all amazing and hard working. The a la cart in the main building had a good wine selection but it’s also annoying because they’ll only let you enjoy the wine there which again without a reservation is super annoying. Also annoying they said they have a steak restaurant which I never seen once….. also the tacos at the resort sucked big time it’s like cmon now guys there should be pastor available all day at the snack bar. Or the buffet. Honestly you guys need to do better. O and theirs one server who was in the a la cart restaurant who wore a black short sleeve wow that guy was a jerk.

The people who work here and the made this vacation a wonderful experience! The ambiance at each restaurant was excellent, we sat and ate our gourmet Mexican dinner and watched and listened as a thunderstorm rolled our way. The pool and bars were as advertised, this was our first but not our last trip

We dined at La Palapa at the Melia last night. My daughter has a sever nut allergy and the chef came out and spoke with us to assure us her food would be safe. He informed the other waiters as well. Food was delicious and we appreciate the attention and care he showers for her safety.

Avoid - Room Theft (Potentially Staff) - No Help/Assistance from Staff

We went to the Melia for our 1 year wedding anniversary to just get away (we had stayed in the Cozumel Melia and had enjoyed it). We stayed about a week and the resort itself was only OK - food was always the same and only 1 or 2 places were open for dinner (one being the buffet). We were not terribly happy with the food, but it didn't ruin the trip. When we were heading out to dinner toward the end of our stay (for our anniversary) we ran into another guest who had said most of his family had stuff stolen from their 5 rooms (jewelry, cash, etc.) including items inside the safe - it was broken open. We didn't think too much of it until we were on our way to the restaurant - the other guest's rooms were in the same building/room type as us. We left dinner early and went back to the room only to realize that both of our laptops had been stolen, our dive watches, go pro, etc. All in all about $6k of items were stolen right out of our room - they even tried to break into the safe, but somehow were not able to get it open. All of these items were hidden in the room, except one of the laptops which we forgot to put away. There was no sign of forced entry - they must have robbed the place during the middle of the day while we were at the pool. The only logical conclusion we could come to was that someone who had access to the card keys was able to use them to access the room. We called security up to the room, filled out the report, etc. with the Melia team. We filled out three different forms; one allowing them to break into our safe, one outlining the incident on company letter head and the other was a generic incident report (no letter head). We were told that we would receive copies of all of these forms for our insurance claim. At this point they made us feel somewhat certain they were taking this seriously... little did we know. The next morning we decided to end our trip early as we felt violated and didn't feel our belongings were safe in our room (and frankly we didn't feel as safe either). We rebooked our flights, but wanted to get a copy of the Melia report (as promised) for our insurance claim when we got home. My wife went to the front desk to request the report and they made her wait for 30 minutes only to return with a copy of the one report without any letterhead stating the location. She requested the whole report, outlining the conversation from the previous night. She waited for another 30 minutes and they came back saying they cannot provide a copy of the report requested. They asked my wife to step away to an office to discuss this, as she was clearly frustrated by the overall situation and had been standing waiting for over 1 hour at the front desk with guests checking in. The guest services staff member condescendingly asked her if she needed a drink to relax. The general manager and guest services staff member took her into an office and told her they couldn't do anything further. The only thing to do was to file a report with the local police. It was a Sunday - they were closed. The following day was a Mexican holiday, so they were closed as well. Ultimately they shrugged their shoulders and provided no further assistance. They were very rude and condescending during the entire transaction. Luckily our homeowner's insurance policy was able to cover the loss of our goods, but it was extremely disappointing to have been lied to and dismissed. Following the trip, I reached out multiple times (via the website and email) to the Melia for any additional information, updates, or even a response to my concerns. I have never heard any responses back to any of my queries. Based on this experience, I will never be staying at any Melia property ever again.

Melía all inclusive Resort Puerto Vallarta

C H on Jun 06, 2022

We enjoyed the rooms, the wait staff especially Hector and Juan. The food was good and the pool was nice. Very family oriented. Many families in attendance in June. Had fun shows in the evening. Right on the ocean with beach access. Nice place for an all inclusive.
