Past due renovation, not worth it.
juanvizoso (Caracas, Venezuela) on Aug 17, 2026
It was very bad from the beginning, overcrowded resort and pressure to sign up for the Club sales pitch. The hotel is well past due a renovation they say they have plans to convert it to a Paradisus, the location is great but the beach is not so great. Many of the staff make their best effort to help but some are just jaded and hunting for undeserved tips. You don't tip because you got bad service and then you get worse service and fit becomes a vicious circle. I saw the reviews before and I had a stay at velas booked, and sadly ended deciding for this because of the activities. Bad decision.

Pros - Great staff, great food and drinks , close to the beach. Cons - check in took too long with no AC in the room, dated rooms, bath tub didn’t drained properly, AC not cold enough in the rooms, construction happening, side by side room wasn’t given after numerous requests during check in
Good hotel!

Ive been there with my family three times already and I like that a lot of the staff remains the same which speaks of the way they treat their people and consequently how they treat the guests. Some areas were undergoing renovations but it’s exciting to see how the hotel is going to look like. I’m looking forward to coming back when it’s done to keep enjoying the facilities and the buffet was great too!
Never booking here again

Would NOT recommend

Overall, I would not recommend this resort. While Puerto Vallarta itself was beautiful and our excursions were incredible, the hotel was a major disappointment. The resort felt overcrowded, and there were far more people than the facilities seemed able to accommodate. The pool was visibly dirty, and after getting in it once, we never used it again or participated in any of the hotel’s activities. Our room was very outdated, with stained sheets and minimal decor. Housekeeping forgot to leave us towels one day, leaving us without anything to dry off with after showering. The shower itself had extremely high water pressure, and the tub drained so slowly that we stood in ankle-deep water while showering, which was especially unpleasant after returning from the beach. The elevator situation was also frustrating. One elevator had an unpleasant odor and eventually broke down, leaving the hotel with only one very small elevator that stopped on nearly every floor. We often chose to carry our bags and take the stairs to the fourth floor instead. The food was another disappointment. Breakfast was decent, but the dinner buffet lacked quality. We ended up paying extra to eat at one of the restaurants, where we ordered a very expensive cowboy steak that was so tough it was nearly impossible to chew. It was replaced with a much smaller rib-eye that also wasn’t very good, yet we were still charged for the original steak. We truly enjoyed Puerto Vallarta and would absolutely return to the area, but we would choose a different hotel. I hope this feedback helps the hotel improve the experience for future guests.
