Great place to vacation

Matthew H on May 02, 2026

Melia in Puerto Vallarta is an excellent resort for those wanting to experience mexico for the first time. The hotel is close by to the airport and has perfect view of the ocean. The rooms were very clean and although slightly dated, there was renovations being down on different floors. There are two restaurants that require reservations. One being seafood and the other being authentic Mexican cuisine. The buffet that offers 3 meals a day of the week also had very good variety. Everyday had a different theme for supper. Efren from the waitstaff knows how to give everyone a good time. During the day there are plenty of things to do on your own such as mini golf, kayaking and table tenis. There are also structured activities for people to compete in. Alejandra, Yunsel, Eshau, Leticia and Betty are all fantastic employees that kept the towel shed and the activities going. During the day there is always music playing to keep the happy atmosphere going. At night after supper is closed and all the structured activities are complete. The whole hotel quiets down apart from the lobby bar that can stay busy until that closes. All in all, the basic all inclusive experience was worth the price paid to enjoy the nice sun and be outside. I will be coming back here in the future.

April Visit to Melia

joeld485 (Edmonton, Canada) on Apr 28, 2026

I’m going to be as clear and accurate as possible. We stayed here middle of April and the weather was scorching hot. Most days it was C 35 degrees or so. Beach - small but nice and offered huge waves. There is dangerous sea-life such as manowars. Water is warm and fun to go in. Pool - standard all inclusive pool, decently large and activities during the day. Room - we had a standard room initially but it was weathered and in rough shape. We upgraded to ocean view for 50$ a night and it was well worth it. Food - was the worst part of our experience. Bland and same dishes daily. It was probably the worst buffet I’ve seen in Mexico. Drinks - this was a problem here. No consistency at all. If you aren’t upgraded you get jose cuervo. They have patron for upgraded bracelets. Each bar was given 1 bottle a day and once out they didn’t restock. Most times we’d ask for a patron margarita and we’d watch them pour cuervo. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The resort was about 70% locals and not many Canadian or Americans. We said this place is closer to a 3 star than a 4 star. One and done if you’re on q budget but not a great option.

Great value hotel

Stephen N (London, United Kingdom) on Apr 27, 2026

Had a great stay at this hotel. Although it's a little dated in parts and not necessarily premium, this was made up for by great location really close to the airport (and a great view), great food and just a good overall vibe. Special shout outs to the breakfast team at Mole y Tacos restaurant, Andrea at breakfast and lunch and Isabela for a great massage treatment

Great all inclusive

lisanders101 (Vancouver, Canada) on Apr 26, 2026

People working there were lovely. The pool/beach areas were well thought out with lots of shade if needed. The grounds were nice to walk through and everything was open yet convenient. Not too many rooms which had nice views throughout. The food was varied and replaced quickly in buffet:) And the location is minutes from the Marina and a quick Uber to downtown. Highly recommend for an all around relaxing all inclusive visit.

A big disappointment

williamrM9980SC (HK) on Apr 20, 2026

While I went to this hotel with measured expectations after reading reviews, I’m still disappointed. After only 1 night I’m hoping to find alternative accommodation. There is a very unpleasant smell in all elevators. The food in the buffet restaurant at dinner was well below average. I recommend booking the à la carte restaurants as soon as you check in. We stayed on the 8th floor yet the noise from the nightly entertainment is so loud. There is construction works which were not clearly communicated at booking.
