We’ve been to the restaurant attached several times and always wanted to stay at the lodge. It is beautiful during the holidays so we decided to book for an evening getaway with our 2 year old daughter. When we first arrived at check-in the front desk hosts were incredibly friendly and we were fortunate enough to have been upgraded to a 2 queen bed suite. Our suite was lovely, quiet and cozy. They called us shortly after check in to see how we were settling in and we appreciated that. The in-room fireplace was lovely to experience during the storm. We enjoyed the lodge itself a lot, we spent the evening by the fire having cocktails while our daughter coloured and read with us. We didn’t get to the hot tub this time, it looked cool with the mountains around and the fire nearby. We finished off with an awesome breakfast at The Prow and more friendly front desk hosts. There was a huge snowstorm and the whole team looked like they were doing amazing work. Great experience & will surely book again!

wow, what a charming place to stay. The rooms feel like cozy yet spacious little cabins. The room was so clean and had all the amenities you need. We loved having a real fire and it came with everything you need to start it easily. We had breakfast (room service) from the restaurant and the food was delicious. Was one of our most relaxing and fun stays in a hotel. Highly recommend.

We stayed in Room 1205 with a beautiful wood-burning fireplace and heated floors! It looked like a small lodge. It was absolutely spotless, even the knotty pine on the ceiling and the walls was in great shape. The room was directly across from the outdoor hot tub (very cool), and only a 30-second walk to the main building. The ONLY thing that I would say was annoying was that the room above us was a bit noisy, but that's it. The room was beautiful. It has a small patio outside with two Adirondack chairs and an area to relax in the summer. It was so lovely with the Christmas atmosphere. We took a cab to town, which was a 5-minute drive down the mountain road.

A pleasant and peaceful lodge-style stay in Banff, set away from the busy town centre. The cabin was spacious, with a comfortable living area, work desk, and a small patio, and the fireplace added a warm and cosy touch, especially appreciated in colder weather. Housekeeping staff were prompt, friendly, and efficient, which was much appreciated. Accommodation is in separate cabin-style, double-storey buildings, so guests should note that luggage needs to be carried a short distance from reception to the cabin, and up a flight of stairs if assigned to an upper-level room. This can be inconvenient, particularly in winter or when travelling with heavier bags. The lodge is located slightly further from the airport, and as it is not on the main road, transport such as Uber is usually required to get around. While the setting is quiet, mountain views from the property are somewhat limited and partially blocked. In comparison, some Canmore lodges and cabins offer more open mountain views, and hotels like Caribou Lodge provide a more central location within Banff town. Overall, Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a comfortable and cosy option for travellers who enjoy a lodge atmosphere and extra space, and who don’t mind a bit of walking and stairs. Those prioritising convenience, central access, or unobstructed mountain views may wish to compare other properties.

We celebrated our anniversary at Buffalo Mountain Lodge and had an amazing experience. The upgrade and thoughtful touches made our stay feel so special. Charlie, who checked us in and out, was incredibly warm and kind — she truly made a difference. Dinner was fantastic, and the highlight was discovering our room faced Mount Rundle, the same view we had when we got married. Such a meaningful coincidence! We loved it so much we stayed an extra night. Highly recommend for a memorable, cozy getaway.
