Good.

Michelle W on Mar 26, 2026

The value was great. The setting, ambiance with the fireplace was fantastic! It was definitely a wet dog damp smell, and I think the carpets need to be replaced. We did contact front desk with the smell and they blamed the fireplace. However, I’ve been to lots of places with the fireplace and it never smelled like this. They sprayed the room with some vanilla spray from an aerosol. Can that was horrific . Probably worse than that smell of mildew. However, The beds were the most comfiest with downfall blankets and super amazing

My favorite spot in Banff!

Lisa M on Mar 16, 2026

Buffalo Mountain Lodge is my most favorite spot to have a get away from Calgary! I love the stainless steel hot tub, making the fire in the room and having a glass of wine. The rooms are perfect and I always have an amazing sleep. I have to give a shout out to The Prow Restaurant for being part of my Buffalo Mountain magical experience. I can't wait to eat the delicious entrees and have a fancy cocktail. The breakfast menu is fantastic the next morning as well. I can't wait to come back again!

Wonderful Lodge and Conference Team, Restaurant Experience Fell Short

Sarah B on Mar 15, 2026

The lodging itself was excellent. Beautiful log cabin design, high ceilings, and a wood-burning fireplace that actually worked, which added a great atmosphere to the stay. The property felt warm, authentic, and very fitting for the mountain setting. The lodge is conveniently located near a bus stop, and the hotel provided bus passes for the three days of our stay, which made it very easy to travel downtown in the evenings for dinner and activities. That transportation option was extremely appreciated. Our conference room started off quite cold, but the team addressed it very quickly, which we appreciated. The conference catering was convenient. The gentleman responsible for the catering service was exceptional. Extremely accommodating. Quickly adjusted beverage options when we asked. Anticipated needs and ensured everything ran smoothly. He genuinely stood out as the best point of contact on the property and one of the most impressive hospitality professionals I’ve encountered in my travels. Restaurant Experience, Unfortunately, the restaurant service was very slow. Breakfast was especially challenging for guests attending conferences. On multiple mornings we waited around 10 minutes just to be seated, and service speed made it difficult to finish breakfast before our 8:00 AM conference start time. We often had to rush out, leaving breakfast unfinished and dropping our meal coupons on the way out. After our first experience, dining there outside of necessity was not something we considered again. It felt like the restaurant was not properly structured to support guests who need efficient breakfast service before scheduled events. Check-in included an overwhelming amount of verbal information, much of which was already provided in a pamphlet. Meanwhile, some practical details were not explained clearly, such as: Where they had positioned us for our conference. Whether there was a place to buy water, soda, or basic refreshments. Finding simple drinks like bottled water or club soda was difficult outside of the restaurant. Our conference room had coffee, but otherwise options were limited. In the evenings the only option in our rooms was to fill glasses from the bathroom sink, which felt inconvenient for a lodge of this caliber. The lodging, setting, and conference catering were excellent, and the service from the conference staff was truly outstanding. However, improvements in restaurant efficiency, check-in communication, and access to basic beverages would significantly elevate the overall guest experience. Overall, it’s a beautiful property with great potential, especially for conferences — but some operational details could be improved to better support guests’ schedules and everyday needs.

Another great stay at BML

Brianbbbb (Calgary, Canada) on Mar 05, 2026

Just came back from a two-night stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. As with a similar visit there three years ago, we very much enjoyed our cozy, quiet room with great mountain views and dining out on the tasty and reasonably priced fare at the on-site Prow Restaurant. BML offers the best of both worlds: easy access to the Banff townsite and neighbouring sights and activities, while being tucked away in a peaceful corner of the Canadian Rockies.
