Wedding Celebration

dkochan123 on Jul 04, 2022

We had a wonderful time at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. The staff were always helpful and accommodating. The location is beautiful, the parking is a little tight. The food was delicious every meal. We had an unforgettable celebration.

Amenities great room very disappointing

rebekahel (Grande Prairie, Canada) on Jul 02, 2022

The amenities were very nice service in restaurant and for the wedding was fantastic. Rooms however were subpar. They were very dated smelled very badly of old fireplace smoke very dirty. The only clean thing was the actual bed itself thank goodness for that. Overall because of room I would never stay again.

Focused on quantity, not quality

Brittany G (Grande Prairie, Canada) on Jul 02, 2022

Regarding room: - it was dated, which was fine. The layer of dust, hairs in the shower, and visible dirt on carpet and other areas was disappointing. Especially for the price of the room, I expected clean. Regarding wedding venue: The wapiti room itself is beautiful. My recommendations are regarding the services offered. The focus seemed to be more on quantity rather than quality. Pumping out as many weddings as possible. The table linens were thrown on with an enormous amount of wrinkles. I understand a few are expected, but when the wrinkles are so prominent they become a feature and prevent event the silverware from laying flat there is a problem. My husband and I spent a few hours ironing and steaming as many out as we could. - the staff were great. However, the meal service was two hours behind, with the main entree not being served until 9:30, and dessert close to 10:30. Late night snacks were scheduled to be served at 9:30, but were not served until 11:30 due to the delay with supper. - When it came time to shut things down, not all, but many of the staff were quite rude and disrespectful in the way they asked us to leave and ripped down decorations. The next morning I had what felt like thousands of twinkle lights to untangle. Overall it was a great time, focusing on why we were there, for my nieces wedding. With that said, I did not find they offered the best quality of service for cleanliness or the details that make an event spectacular. I’ll say it again, there should be a shift from focusing on quantity, to quality. With management and booking department taking into account how short staffed they are, and scheduling things appropriately to ensure nothing but the best quality of service.

3 nights at the Lodge

pfitzpatrick (Southern California) on Jun 30, 2022

My wife and I arrived and were at first really happy we chose our location to stay, not having stayed overnight in Banff, and not really knowing the area that well. Based on other reviews, we thought it was a good choice. Based on other places we stayed in Tofino, Whistler, and Jasper during our trip through western Canada, the lodge was by far the most disappointing. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't what we expected or hoped for in the price range. Accomodations were fine but no closet space to hang clothes, just 4 drawers so we lived out of our suitcases while we stayed. The food at the Prow, and their signature cocktails, were wonderful and the staff was extremely courteous and attentive. (Note: I can't really disparage any hotel for staffing during these covid times and worker shortage issues 0unless it was a 5-star type hotel). Their was no views of mountains, but we were a short walk to the Tunnel Mountain trail system and the Hoodoo overlook which I took advantage on a morning run. Unfortunately, the Lodge is experienceing a tree kill of like much of the area and they are in the process of cutting many of them down with many more to go. Oh well. Summary: great staff, good food and drinks, nice room but no view, little clothing storage, and a little overpriced. Average+, just not Very Good. Cheers.
