Real disappointment as on our entire Canada trip this was the one I was looking forward to. Had emailed to ask for King Room and pay extra, communication was really poor and by the time we arrived we were told this couldn’t be done. The rooms are old & dated , yes this is a mountain lodge but really not worth the money as far better value staying in town. The staff don’t seem to know anything. Basic questions like is there a little shop nearby were answered I’m not sure! We had previously booked for Jasper hence was in 2 different hotels in Banff but would not recommend this hotel as service poor & too far out of town. The Prow restaurant in the hotel is incredibly slow service & not worth the price. Go else where to stay and eat in Banff

Lodge is located up tunnel mountain about a 15 minute walk into town but shuttle buses available every 20 mins at $2 a trip. The lodge is comfortable, most staff were friendly and helpful but check in was a little chaotic. The rooms are of a good size but attention to detail in the nooks and crannies but nothing untoward. The bed was very comfortable. Nice lodge and would happily stay here again despite a few niggles.

Toilet was nonstop running. Informed front desk and issue was not resolved and let them know during checkout. No sound barrier between floors very loud and unpleasant. Could hear the floor above walking around and full conversation. Our bed might as well been in their living room.

Smoke detector kept clicking all night, they tried fixing it with a new battery. Kept us awake all night, the night before son’s wedding. Called to have it fixed the next night and had to tell the maintenance man that it sounded like an electrical issue, sure enough that’s what it was. They are very lucky this didn’t cause a fire. No compensation was given for the inconvenience of listening to an annoying smoke detector shorting out.

Lovely setting and convenient to walk to town if you can manage a hill on the way back. However, bus service is convenient to downtown if you choose not to walk. Staff is attentive and helpful. We did talk with them when checking out as the room (which is somewhat dated but fine and has a fireplace which is great) was NOT clean. The bathroom was not kept up during our week+ stay. Bathroom and room needed deep cleaning which they offered to do but we didn't want to spend time switching rooms so just dealt with it. Housekeeping needs to improve their standards. The only reason we gave this an average rating is due to lack of top notch cleaning which we expected with an accommodation in this price range. Restaurant was good for breakfast but we didn't try it otherwise as we were either in Banff downtown or on the go.
