Great place to stop for a drink
Snoozywoo (Kirkby Stephen, United Kingdom) on Sep 29, 2024
We stopped off at the Accra beach bar for a few drinks and got talking to Sylvester who took very good care of us, we ended up staying for an hour or so longer than we'd intended. It was a fantastic location and was a great place to stop off for a drink (or 4!) he made me my first ever Bajan lemonade, which was delicious. If you're walking along the beach I recommend a refreshment break here, it was a great find.
A simple beach resort hotel

I stayed at the Accra immediately prior to the hurricane that hit in late June. Having stayed at this hotel before, not much had changed over the years. The rooms haven't changed in a long time in the older section. Adequate beds, nice cold air cond and a shower tap that took me a while to understand how to turn it on - you pull it toward you. My room faced the main road, but wasn't too noisy as they have a form of double glazing out to the balcony. The usual tea and coffee facilities were present along with a smallish tv offering a mixture of Barbados and US Miami channels. Breakfast was quite good with a mixture of items including a chef to cook eggs as you like. The hotel gym was small but ok. The direct beach access was fantastic, but we had quite a deal of seaweed during my stay. The hotel is conveniently placed near some tourist shops, a Chefette (fast food burgers) and a great little shopping area with a pharmacy, subway, several restaurants, a bank plus much more. Staff were quite accommodating. This hotel may not be up to everyone's standard, but I'd say its a solid 3 star. The hotel also has a beauty spa which I did not visit. My tip would be to get a room in the newer section of the hotel.
Save yourself the hassle...go somewhere else

save yourself the hassle. just...choose somewhere else. Booked in the low season for a conference. This is a no frills hotel and the hotel walkways, elevators etc can use a good scrub down and clean. btw. no ACs in the elevator, common spaces are HOT, dizzying room numbering system and layout, areas which seem to be under construction (missing floor carpet) but at the same time...is not under construction and the rooms are HUGE hit or miss. Our group had a myriad of complaints with the assigned rooms. All addressed BUT it should not have come up in the first place. Smells of sewage, inefficient ACs, cleanliness issues, inoperable doors, and just a general feeling of age and mustiness. It's like watching what once was a jewel crumble before your eyes. It really needs some investment or a new investor to make it competitive for others along the beach. Location cannot be beat 100m from the boardwalk, but the rooms and amenities really gives more of a hostel type vibe vs a hotel and at US200 per person this is not where value for money lies.
Terrible !

Sad to say this was the least pleasant experience . Horrible service, i have not seen terrible customer service like this before, staff are rude and not helpful at all . We noticed how poorly hotel was maintained, rooms were very tired, small poor facilities, doors don’t close, bathroom and sink were chipped and black stained. elevator is the slowest l've ever seen. Reported multiple times to the front desk and nothing been done , when they come to look they broke our suitcase.
Accra Beach Hotel Barbados is sub par

We paid for a full trip including meals only to be told on the final day they did not “know” we would be here (which seems absurd since we would have booked and paid in advance) and so there was inadequate staff and food. They actually tried to give us leftover food in plastic containers at the restaurant. To add insult to injury most of the staff were disrespectful and we waited 2 and a half hours for burgers and club sandwiches. I would not recommend.
