Accra - disappointed with service

The hotel lobby looks nice and pool is fine. The rooms are dated and old and do not have enough plugs! Housekeeping was awful. They forgot to replace with fresh towels after I called them twice and clear rubbish plus there were ants in the room. I had to go down to reception to complain about this. I went to the bar to ask for toothpicks and they had none but the hotel guy said they were in the store room. I asked him when he would get them and he said 30mins! Why not go now while I’m waiting on the spot? One of the lamps did not even have a switch to turn it off and you had to unplug it from the mains! To say I am disappointed it’s understatement. I won’t be coming here again in a hurry however central it is!

Great location, great staff

I was somewhat worried about staying at Accra after reading some of the reviews, however we had a great 2 weeks. The hotel is perfectly located and our room was large with a jacuzzi and beautiful sea view. There was quite a high level of maintenance happening which included power hosing (all day), hedge cutting, tree cutting and painting so not as relaxing as could have been but the staff were very good, especially Mitchell who looked after us so well. Would definitely consider coming back.

We were due to spend 6 nights here but left after only 1. The poor state of the rooms really let this resort down. Not only are they dated in decor, they are well below the standard I would expect in any hotel. We moved rooms 4 times on our first day and each room had faults (huge thanks to Justin on reception for his patience). No cold water, dripping air conditioner, balcony doors that don’t shut properly (never mind lock!), wardrobe door that fell off the runners, paintwork that is so old and chipped you can see many years worth of layers beneath the grim brown paint. The location is great, the staff we dealt with were helpful and professional and the pool area was nice although dirty plates from the evening before were still sat on a table by the afternoon! This hotel needs a total refurb - such a shame.

Nice hotel, Lousy room

The hotel grounds and hotel in general are quite nice. Great location for restaurants and shops. Beach is lovely but unfortunately full of smelly seaweed that is not being cleaned up. Our room was alas sub-par. No hot water and shower did not work properly (water coming out of spout instead of shower head). Broken closet door, burnt-out lightbulb at entrance and wall socket covers coming off. Coffee maker was nice, but the cord was so short we were making coffee on the floor. :( And the wifi! Worst wifi I have experienced in any hotel, ever. The staff were nice, drinks were good, food..ok. Service was very slow. On our first night, we were tired and wanted a quick supper. An hour just to get a bowl of soup and a shrimp skewer. :( Note to travellers...avoid the street view rooms unless you love being awakened to sirens, car horns, jackhammers and pounding "music". I was expecting better.

This is in no way a criticism of this amazing resort This resort is incredible and the reason We return year after year We choose this resort as it is a no smoking and no vaping property This includes the pool area and balconies There are allocated smoking areas to the rear of the gardens on the beach and to the front of the Hotel for smoking If You don’t wish to follow these rules then choose a smoking property so those of us who come here because of the no smoking rule can enjoy our time here and not be forced out of the pool area because of ignorant Guests who choose not to follow the rules and smoke and vape pool side and on their balcony because they are too lazy to walk to the allocated areas The Management and staff are excellent and try their utmost to police this but unless You want a hefty fine follow the rules and be respectful of those who don’t want to be subject to inhaling smoke Security do need to be more pro active in curbing this issue instead of watching guests do it Suggestions A disclaimer at the pool side saying pool etiquette should include No Smoking A notice placed at reception On arrival guests to be made aware of the no smoking rule at check in No smoking signs on the balcony No matter what the managed do it how hard they try there will always be those who are disrespecting of others Just expect a fine if You are caught
