Planet Hollywood Cancun Review (April 5–12, 1 week stay) Travelled from Regina, Canada We had an amazing stay at Planet Hollywood Cancun—easily one of the best resorts we’ve experienced. I had been watching prices for a few years, as it always seemed too expensive, but we finally found a great deal this year and decided to go. The resort is beautifully decorated with a Hollywood theme. The white and purple design looks stunning, especially in photos. The layout is very well planned, with amenities, activities, restaurants, and entertainment all centered in one main area, which is beautifully lit at night. There’s so much to do, especially for kids and teens. Highlights include the lazy river, water park, movie theatre, trampoline park, surf simulator, tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball court, and even a baseball practice machine. The gym is also excellent. The pools are beautiful and warm, and the ocean was warm as well (though there was some seaweed during this time of year—it was cleaned daily). We stayed in a room for 3 adults and 1 teen, and it was a great size. The bathroom setup was very functional, with two separate vanities, a separate toilet area, and a door dividing the bathroom from the main room. Soundproofing was excellent—we couldn’t hear any noise at night. Food was very good overall. We especially loved the ice cream/coffee shop, which offered matcha, lattes, cakes, fresh juices, tea, sandwiches, and more—it was a highlight of our stay. The buffet had plenty of options, including made-to-order crepes, omelettes, pasta, and seafood. Desserts and sushi were also excellent. The resort offers unlimited à la carte dining, but reservations must be made online. At the pool, towels are available without needing towel cards, which was very convenient. However, you do need to reserve pool chairs early (around 7 AM), as they fill up quickly. The entertainment team did a fantastic job—great shows and activities every night. A special shoutout to Daniel from the entertainment team—he was the best and really made our stay even more enjoyable. A few downsides: * The hotel is starting to show some signs of wear and aging * Room cleaning could have been better—our floor didn’t seem to be properly washed * No toilet brush in the rooms * Pool bathrooms could use better maintenance (cleanliness, stocked toilet paper, less watered-down soap) * Would be nice to see fresh flowers in the lobby and public areas * More water dispensers, possibly with citrus or herb-infused water, would be a great addition Overall, this is a fantastic resort with excellent amenities, great food, and lots to do. We would definitely consider coming back.

This is very big resort so they are all about trying to make money off of you after you get here The three best things are the towels exchange entertainment at the pool and no room keys The bad things are the lineups at the bars and the coffee shops are outrageous at peak times Way understaffed and they don’t care Also if you want to watch any BB or Hockey playoffs at the sports bar forget it They would rather let a whole bunch of women scream for an hour as they have karaoke After they turn down the volume on the tvs I guess they don’tunderstand they cater to mostly Canadien and American tourists won’t be returning to this resort
Not ready for families — room issues and inattentive service

We stayed at Planet Hollywood Cancun for 3 nights with our two kids, and the experience fell well short of what we expected. The most serious issues were with the room. Liquid was dripping from the bathroom ceiling directly in front of the sink, making the bathroom effectively unusable. One morning the smoke alarm went off at 6 a.m. for no reason — the front desk said someone would investigate, called back claiming it was a malfunction, and promised to follow up. They never did. Because we booked for 4, our kids needed the sofa bed — but it had no sheets or pillows. After calling guest services, sheets arrived 2 hours later and pillows never came that night. We had to ask again in the morning. The room also had a long list of maintenance problems: the TV couldn't be turned off because the remote was broken, the closet door was off its hinge and wouldn't close, the bathtub rocked, the exterior light was out, and the thermostat appeared broken — the bedroom stayed at maximum A/C the entire stay. Service required constant follow-up. Our coffee machine came with enough pods for 2 coffees on the first morning, and we didn't get replacements until the final night. Housekeeping told us coffee pods weren't their responsibility and sent us to guest services. The pool ran out of towels for about 2 hours on Friday. At Saturday dinner our place setting was missing a fork and we never got one. A requested coffee at lunch took 30 minutes. The resort was also out of tiramisu on Friday — minor, but it fit a pattern of being out of things. Dining ranged from disappointing to unpleasant. At teppanyaki Thursday night, we were seated at the bar and served last. We'd ordered chicken, shrimp, and beef, but by the time the chef reached us they were out of chicken and beef — and the chef acted as though shrimp was all we'd ordered. The burger spot Thursday afternoon was worse: 35 minutes for a burger, and when we asked for extra fries we were told the only way to get more was to order a second burger. Openly hostile service over a bizarre policy at an all-inclusive. For a family resort at this price point, we expected functioning rooms, attentive service, and restaurants that could deliver what's on the menu. Planet Hollywood Cancun didn't deliver on any of those.
Great time at planet Hollywood

Had an awesome time at this resort! Food was great, and we love that they kept the beach clean! The beach volleyball with Oberson was always lots of fun! We had a great experience here!
