Curacao was great - The Rif was not

K5611QDjoeh on Apr 11, 2026

The food was mediocre and service was sporadic. The 72 degree limit on the thermostat was infuriating. We woke up sweating every night when the AC would shut off. The reservation app/system was a joke. We could not eat at the restuarants we wanted to. The beach was dirty. Every 10 feet I could see a straw, cup, or plastic fork. I did not like the dozens of pidgeons (flying rats) in the dining center. We loved Curacao and will return, but we will not stay at the Rif. The snorkeling and diving on site were not very good because the water is rough with poor visibility and strong currents. I liked the diving and snorkeling much better at Blue Bay and Cas Abou. The only reliable friendly service was from Kaan, Thornson, and Oscar.

Very poor customer service

Akanksha D (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Apr 08, 2026

I booked a 10 day vacation using all my saving for husband’s 40th birthday. I am a Hilton honors member. I called the property and emailed them to make small adjustments to my booking. They don’t respond or care at all. I am disappointed with the service and not looking forward to staying there anymore.

Customer service rock bottom

HenryHJL (New York City, New York) on Apr 06, 2026

This could have been a good review if not for a few things: First of all, the hotel lacks a modern check in system of notifying you when your room is ready. If you arrive early, you have to constantly go to the front desk to check. Our room was not ready until past the 4pm check in time. When we got to our room, there were two single beds and not the king bed we booked. Another 20 mins of struggling with housekeeping, plus another 20 mins for them to put the two beds together and a king mattress on top to "make" a kind bed, the room was finally ready at 5:15pm. This totally killed our afternoon. The true reason for the 1 star review: The towel lady at the RIF pool (with the gold filling on her front tooth) was so infatuated with her little power over the towels, this is what she did over the three days we were there: * On our first day at 2pm, my wife asked for towels and she said "no towels until 4pm." We assumed it was hotel policy (which we later confirmed it wasn't), so we told our daughter she had to wait. Lo and behold, we see guest after guest getting towels, so I went back and she for some reason gave me towels. * Second day we went to the pool at 8am, my wife asked for 6 towels (2 per person, one to lay down, one to dry off). She said "one towel per person", only to see everyone else getting multiple towels. So again I go back and ask for 3 more towels and for whatever reason she gives it to me. At this point I decided to just take the towels sitting on the cabanas. We also ended up recycling less used less wet towels from the day before by drying them in our room overnight. The fact that we had to stress about pool towels after paying thousands of dollars was mindboggling and despicable for a Hilton resort of this level. * Last day we go to the pool at 7:50am, and at 7:56am we see people getting towels so I went and asked for 3 towels (at this point we were so fed up, we didn't even try to get 6 towels. And again, we had recycled towels from the prior day). Her response was "no towels until 8am." I shake my head and tell myself I can wait 3 mins, only to see yet again other guests getting towels. I was fuming at this point, so I walk right back and ask for 6 towels (just to test her) and of course she says "one towel per person". There is a general lack of service at this resort, no one smiles, no one seems happy to work there (with the exception of 3 people: manager Tai-Rock, the server at the Turkish restaurant, and one of the omelette chefs at the breakfast buffet), but the towel lady took it to a whole new level. She at a minimum discriminates and what she did to us, I can only assume she was racist. She singlehandedly made this a one-star review. I would like to give a shout out to "Tai-Rock" at the front desk. He was amazing from assisting us at check in, helping book restaurants and assisting with the towel issue. I would strongly recommend the hotel re-train and re-enforce better service amongst their staff.
