Fabulous family trip

R2881FJsaml on Jan 29, 2023

First time for 12 in our family traveling together. Infant, 2 and 3 year old plus a 6 year old and adults. Stayed in beach club suites all in the same building as requested. Size of suites were excellent for families and the little ones were able to have ‘separate’ space for sleeping in pack and plays provided plus cots. Beds were comfortable and all pillows were being replaced the day we left. Maid service was excellent. Room fridge did not work well and beverages were barely cool. TV quit part way through our visit. Service request was responded to immediately. Lounge service was excellent and very convenient. Seldom went for the pre-dinner period but nice variety of appetizers and attentive service when we did. Staff very accommodating about food taken back to rooms for eating/drinking. Quality of breakfast much better than our previous visit pre-Covid. Bacon and eggs available every day. We did eat breakfast many mornings in the Mexican restaurant where we could get cappuccino and omelettes made to order. We usually walked down for breakfast and could hear the cheery cook all the way down our road. He was delightful! Shuttles were excellent and we never waited more than 2 or 3 minutes for a ride. We rode frequently because of the little ones and the steps being not so friendly for strollers. Drivers were friendly and kind to our little ones. We chose this resort for the beach and were not disappointed! Everyone snorkeled and saw many fish, a turtle and octopus. The coral reef is very visible as the tide goes out and one can go ‘around’ the edges but really never over the top of the reef as before. We did use the one large palapa on the main beach because of our infant - the only palapa that guaranteed shade through the main part of the day. It would be wonderful if the resort added additional large palapas - we were always at the beach early to ensure our kiddies had a safe shady spot. We did eat meals at 3 a’la carte restaurants and had impeccable service each time. We were a large group but were always seated quickly and served drinks and menus right away. Variety at Mexican restaurant was all excellent. Steak and salmon especially recommended at Solarium and mahi-mahi dishes plus tuna excellent at Pescador. The kids menus were great - variety plus 2 alternating menus. The food in the buffet has greatly improved since our last visit. We appreciated being served although quantities served were often greater than we would have served ourselves. The sandwich bar was great at lunch and again we appreciated that we could order an extra one to take to our nursing mom at the beach. Food was kept warmer than we remembered from our last visit and the pasta station made fresh was so much better than the self serve trays. Our only issue at the buffet was possibly the carving station beef roast that was so rare one member in our group ended up quite ill for a day. The first few slices were great but the rare inside slices were a problem. Beverage service was good and drinks were usually consistent. Service at the beach was wonderful. We really appreciated getting water as often as we requested - multiple bottles at a time. We will return!

Lovely location with good sports facilities. The rooms were clean and comfortable but could definitely use some updating. Food was fine and staff were friendly and attentive. It was a bit noisy at night with the band etc until 11:30. The sound carries throughout the resort so it was a disturbance for early nighters. Thank you

Pickleball holiday

12praveen (Vancouver, Canada) on Jan 29, 2023

Just got back from a lovely week long trip with 35 of us total for a pickleball holiday. The tennis courts are gorgeous area to set up pickleball. They should look at putting in dedicated courts as a draw. My wife & I honeymooned there 30 years ago when it was a Club Med! The location is outstanding, the sunrises from our room, the sunsets gorgeous. The staff super friendly and we used the spa several times (Gabby & Coco were great). Our only & biggest complaint - the food was very substandard in our opinion. We ended up going off property several times to get a nice meal. They'll need to up their game to bring us back.

La ripoff

dobeja2023 (Escondido, California) on Jan 29, 2023

Bait and switch with room and rate. "All inclusive" is shamefully bad. Unseasoned overcooked food. Cocktails are mostly sugar water squeezed out of several unlabeled bottles with off brand or well grade alcohol. Shuttles or long hikes to get around property, shuttles take 45min to arrive because everyone needs them. Grounds are clean and well cared for. The rooms however were in poor condition, built in 1986 and just sloppily repainted every few years. Broken furniture, patio doors that cannot close allowing insects to pour in. There IS a complimentary can of roach spray in every room though! $500US per night should be covering improvements and repairs, funds are not being used for as much it appears. To summarize in one word- Gross

Heaven in winter

PariOr (Toronto, Canada) on Jan 29, 2023

This was our 9 th year and each time we arrive we feel like we’re home again. Wonderful lush tropical setting and beach access unlike any other resort in the area with both local and international travellers joyful to be there.. the staff continue to provide attentive service and address any needs that arise in a friendly and professional manner. Ana, Orlando, among beach staff that excelled …
