SKIP the Sunclub upgrade It's a Ripoff

Heidi M (White Rock, Canada) on Apr 30, 2026

Don't bother with Sunclub upgrade!! Not worth the extra $1000.00 Canadian a week. ($1,670 pesos per night) $23,380 pesos extra for 2 weeks and Non frontal view even with the extra cost!! The only area that was air conditioned was Da Mario and the Sunclub lounge. There was a Sunclub area for breakfast and lunch open air but there were constantly people cutting through the area with no shirts and wet bathing suits going to the bathroom. one Ala carte restaurant open for dinner other than the buffet every night (Da Mario/Italian or Blue water grill alternating). Same menus with 5 options for 2 weeks…..Birds landing in and eating the ingredients at the Omelette station ?? Most of the items in the buffet looked like slop geared more toward the influx of Mexican families almost daily either some kind of promotion or day passes. They would arrive by the bus load. The pool overrun with children……Hard to find Hot food anywhere. Even when specifically requested ( I want to blow on it). The staff were wonderful and friendly we enjoyed the 24 hour coffee bar. Bars don't open till 11:00 am. Buffet opens 6:30 PM for dinner A la carte 6:00 We would like to give a Shoutout to Roberto Munoz Sunclub lounge Miriam Sunclub check-in Emmanuel and Ignatio Sunclub lunch area And all the Barristas at the 24 hour coffee bar

Nice Hotel

TravelDaysCanada (Alberta) on Apr 27, 2026

This was a nice family friendly resort. Very nice central location. The staff were all 10/10 - great service everywhere, especially Geovani at the beach bar. Most of the time only the buffet was open for supper, a few nights La Mario’s (Italian) was open. It may have had to do with the busy season coming to a close in Ixtapa. But there were many supper options just outside the resort if you wanted a change. There was also shopping and pharmacy items available just outside the resort at much more affordable prices. Rooms were very nice and very clean. The oceanview rooms are 100% worth the upgrade. It could get loud in the rooms at night depending on where your room was located, but even then it always quieted down around 11:30. For the ladies - there was no conditioner in the rooms, only body wash and shampoo. Towels were always available and you never had to get up early to get a spot at the beach or by the pool - very nice. The beach spots all had shade from the sun. Overall a nice stay.

Good Value

Barbara R on Apr 26, 2026

The beach is very nice but water is too rough which was disappointing They push Sun Club which is not worth extra 1500.00 They need to restock fridges daily All staff are helpful and friendly especially “Tony” thanks, nice meeting you. Need an air conditioned room to go to other than your room. Can be noisy at night but we were on the west side which more quieter.

Awesome staff

Candy H on Apr 18, 2026

Our serves: Roger, Pablo, Ignacio, Emanuel, and Odette were excellent servers. Our bartenders at the swim up bar and the sun club lounge were great. We also appreciated the housekeeping and the cleanliness of the rooms. All your staff have been very friendly and helpful.

Ixtapa

dogster D on Apr 17, 2026

The place is clean and nice. But the building seems old but atleast the elevators were working. The only thing that was open was the buffet and La Mario. The other restaurant was close. I dont recommend you swimming in the beach because the tide is strong not unless you are a really good swimmer. When you are in Ixtapa make sure to do the turtle release and also the dolphin swim.
