Birthday getaway

Being UVC members we were looking for a budget friendly 4 day get away in the sun and we chose Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa. Turned out to be a great choice. More of a hotel-style, compact resort as opposed to the sprawling resorts people think of nowadays, the location is great. Beachfront and across from a small local retail hub, very cool to be beachside one minute, and in the local life just by crossing the street. Overall, the resort is a little tired and definitely needs some upgrades, but the staff is fantastic. Despite the immediate impression of the resort, the rooms were pleasingly fresh and clean! Just a tip, "partial ocean view" means you look at the condo next door...unless you lean out over the balcony to see a sliver of water! There were a lot of locals enjoying the resort as well so lots of kids! The beach is absolutely stunning..panoramic views..beautiful waters..perfect for morning walks with coffee, just drinking it all in. A busy beach, but large enough that it doesn't seem too crowded. The turtle hatchery was an awesome bonus we were unaware of. If you're as lucky as we were, you'll get to see a turtle release! (You can hear the waves crashing at night from your room zzzzzzz....) If you are traveling as adults only, we recommend joining the Sun Club. The beach view rooms (Floors 19 and 20) private beach cabanas, beach drink service and breakfast and lunch restaurant off the Blue Water Grill (Sun Club only) was nice and quiet. Luis and Eduardo were AMAZING! Top notch service. My wife enjoyed a treatment at the spa which she loved, but noted to the manager that during her treatment, you can hear the kids excitement as the water slides are beside the spa, and kids club is attached to the spa. Not a deal breaker, but kinda counter intuitive to a relaxing spa visit. We MUST give a special shout out to the following people for the excellent service! Diana - Restaurant Hostess; Always remembered our name and room number and had the most beautiful smile and very professional. Christopher - Concierge; You need it? Christopher will do anything he can to make your stay the most enjoyable! Thank you Christopher! Hugo - Restaurant Manager; Always assisting his staff with a smile or in our case a lost voice. Cheers to you Hugo. Sandra - UVC Representative; Went above and beyond to make our quick stay a perfect one and making sure we had the perfect room. First time we have been treated so well as members of UVC....Thank you Sandra!
Noisy place with a nice beach

There were 11 in our group, 5 young children and 6 adults. Arriving just after Christmas and staying 7 nights. It was a busy time and so the facilities were crowded. Fortunately, with the kids, we seemed to want to eat earlier than most and so avoided the crowds. We got the sun club upgrade but found that the dedicated restaurant was not well suited to small kids so we mostly ate at the buffet. The food was adequate, but nothing great. Salad and fruit were available but really limited and poorly prepared. The new years eve party emcee was awful and the sound so loud we had to leave early. In general my biggest complaint was that the music around the pool was too loud to enjoy and depending on where you were sitting, it made it hard to relax. The pool DJ on New years day played techno music that was so repetitive and loud we went to the beach. My final noise complaint was the disco in a neighboring property was disruptive on the weekend nights and new years eve until 4 or 5 am. We had the white noise in the room on max but the bass from the music was impossible to mask and we were on the 20th floor.
Ixtapa delight

A 4.5/5 experience. This was our first visit to Ixtapa and had a great time at the Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa. We prefer smaller resorts, and this one felt cozy, while still providing excellent amenities. And the service was amazing. Seriously, staff were almost uniformly attentive and pleasant (even the ones with a more limited English vocabulary). And what makes it nicer, they seemed to be enjoying the work they do. We booked the Sun Club for our week stay and were glad we “upgraded”. This gave us access to a lounge area with a bartender and snacks, a whole restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and a specific beach area with fancier covered lounge options (with hammocks!). On the beach you will find Tomas taking your orders, and who by the end of the week knew exactly what we wanted. One of the hardest working staffers on the resort, and always with a smile - he was great! As we were traveling with a 11-year-old child with a frustratingly limited palate, we often ate at the buffet for the additional selection. Breakfasts provided lots of options (don’t miss out on the French toast in the kids section), and Magdelana made great omelets. We also visited the Snack Machine, a food truck by the kids park/water area, where Esmeralda greeted you with a smile even when taking our basic order of plain old hot dogs. We recommend the crudites – vegetables with some nice spice and lime– available on the side. We were fortunate enough to be at the resort on New Years Eve and were very impressed with how the hotel went all out - really making it a night to remember. Carlos and Paulina made sure we had a great time at our outdoor dining table, a big thanks to them. And the evening festivities concluded with what may have been the most amazing fireworks show we have ever seen (mostly because we were on the beach with them going off literally overhead). We would be remiss to not mention Izathini (apologies the spelling might not be 100% correct) at the coffee bar - she decorated our delicious coffee and made us smile every morning. The banana bread is also excellent. And if you are into Jello, there is often a good selection amongst the other sweet treats to be found there. Regarding the hotel location itself – the sand quality on the beach was fantastic (nary a stone to be found, great for long walks which can be had in either direction), and the surf, while “red flagged” all week, was not a deal breaker – you can float around and body surf unless you have really weak swim skills. We splashed about happily all week in both the ocean and the two main pools (which is really one big one separated by an overpass walkway). If there is a nit to pick, it would be the beds. We had a room with 2 doubles, and they are on the stiffer side, and I would even say smaller side compared to a standard double. But for us, not nearly enough to detract from a very enjoyable stay. Tips - you can ask for bathrobes (this may be a Sun Club thing) - take the 6.5km bike ride offered by the resort - despite the under inflated tires, the trip along a very well maintained bike path will take you to Playa Linda where you can see a small enclosed area with crocs, iguanas, turtles and various fancy birds - if you want to tip, we recommend doing so in Pesos - if you plan a trip to Ixtapa Island, make sure you do wander as there are some lovely spots and can easily see all four beaches in a short period of time as the main beach we found a little crowded - Air Canada Vacations, and Luis in particular, was amazing. We cannot gush enough about how nice it was to have him available for questions and not always selling - a great trilingual communicator who takes his job seriously (unlike with other non-AC packages we have had in the past – looking at you Sunwing!)
The Weird, The Wacky & The Wonderful

We stayed here for the first time from December 4th to 15th, 2025. First, things that make you scratch your head: - The entire resort doesn't have Mezcal, Corona or Modello....?? - Men cannot wear tank tops to the breakfast buffet and shirts must have sleeves...even though women can wear bathing suit tops/spaghetti straps in the restaurant. Makes no sense... The Wonderful: - All of the staff are absolutely fantastic ??and we really enjoyed them especially the superb beach bar service by Geovanni and Adeline/ Carlos in the Italian restaurant. Whether its at breakfast, lunch or dinner, ALL the staff are super helpful and friendly. - Magdalena made me some memorable omelets every morning ?? - Please don't forget to tip your servers: you'd do that at home - I know it's an all inclusive...but the people deserve recognition for outstanding service. -Many of the staff are working on speaking English, so I really enjoyed practicing my Spanish on them. Miscellaneous notes/tips/advice: -This whole strip of hotels is busy and can be a bit loud at night if you're not into the nightlife. There were 6 weddings while we where there and even on the 17th floor, the music from the disco/beach/Emporio Hotel can be heard in the room. - You may want to ask for a room on the west side and if you're a light sleeper, bring some silicone earplugs with you. - The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The housekeeping staff does a great job of making that happen ?? -Swimming was excellent...love bobbing in the ocean - The Combi's are a great system to get around. Cost is 37 pesos and the drivers are most helpful if you let them know where you want to go. Bottom Line: We'd go back if the price was right. Would've given a 3 1/2 ?s if I could and the reason its not a 4 ? is because of the beverages I couldn't get and the music that could be heard in the room in the evenings.
This is your next beach destination.

We had an incredible experience here at sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa. The beach is beautiful, and the pools are refreshing. The food is delicious, staff are polite and friendly. Juan Rivera was exceptionally helpful and courteous. He went above and beyond our expectations and went out of his way to provide us with 5 star service. We will definitely return for another beach vacation. Also be sure to visit Raymundo at the pool bar, he serves some delicious cocktails!
