My experience at sunscape was fascinating. I spent majority of my time at the beach. The waiter Geovani always provided the best service and recommended us various refreshing drinks to have. He was very attentive and always made sure we were having a fun time. I highly recommend the experience to have at the beach with great service provided by Geovani.
Just the facts – pros or cons, you decide

Very family-oriented - great water and play areas for kids. A very quick commute from the airport to the resort. Rooms – clean, good size, mini bar, aircon, etc. Daily cleaning was great, and the minibar was also filled regularly. If you want things a tad quieter, would recommend requesting a room on the west side, as the nightly performance area can get quite loud. Food and drink – The options are limited, but the food at all locations was excellent. After 10 days anywhere, food becomes tiresome. There are many restaurants within walking distance. We visited Bistro Soleiado and Emilio’s Pizza just to name a few. No smoking on resort property or beach. Alcohol is not served until 11 am and the lobby bar is a bit of a letdown and could use an upgrade. Pool and Beach Chairs – people will get up at dawn to “reserve” their special spots by the pool or on the beach. The resort does let you know at check-in that this is not allowed. However, many of the guests do not adhere to this rule. Security does its best to monitor and will open spots by removing personal items if unused/utilized after an hour. The ocean could be a tad challenging for those not accustomed to big waves. Caution needs to be adhered to. No smoking on resort property or beach Entertainment – lots of fun daily activities, some you need to register for (bike tour). The evening entertainment could be hit or miss. The holiday festivities were outstanding. We did notice that sometimes the timing was off on a couple of the activities, but the resort does a great job making your time there fun. All staff was amazing and friendly, but we want to give a special shout-out to our favorite resort friends; - Simon, Raymondo, Irwin, Alejandro, Giovanni, Korrina, Ormondo and Christopher Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed the laid back family atmosphere. Always felt safe walking around the shopping area and restaurant's. Beach was clean but recommend using caution as big waves .. Staff were usually very helpful and polite. Resort and rooms was clean, the food was above average. Only issue were the drinks were very sweet as they used syrups. would go back again fore sure!!
Party of 14, Christmas family vacation !

We had a fantastic trip to the Sunscape from Dec 21-28. 14 in our party can be difficult to accommodate but they did great. A family oriented resort. All Of the staff are friendly and very helpful, Christopher is the concierge and is always there to help with anything you need. The checkin process was smooth. They accommodated our big party and did what they could to get us in close proximity to eachother. The bar staff are all amazing , Simon at the swim up bar top notch, Anthony at the lounge bar great too. Overall all the staff were great. Rooms very clean. There is always food and drinks available, from the buffet to the snack truck, al la carte Italian which is good and no need to make reservations. The pool entertainment staff good if you choose to join in on the fun. The servers around the pool so good. We are people who tip well, it's important not just to get good service but also they work very hard in the heat to make sure you have a drink under your umbrella. Tip them well at the start of the day, they will serve you even better. Also tip your person who cleans your room! Again, they work hard and get minimal payment. Show your appreciation. If you can afford to play, you can afford to pay! Simon and Anthony are great at making good drinks, tip them too! All of the staff honestly were so great everywhere. Christmas in Ixtapa was great! The only thing I would say is the evening entertainment wasn't as good for me. However I was comparing to another stay in Cancun where there was beach parties almost every night, dancing for the tourists with the staff, water shows, karaoke in the day etc just my perspective. Had I never been to another hotel with amazing entertainment, the Sunscape entertainment would of been great too. Perspective. The hotel offered an amazing bike tour, no cost but again, tip your guide! 14km round trip after 7km you get to see crocodiles, a view of Ixtapa island etc... great bike path, one of the greatest things I've done on a hot holiday. If you interact and treat everyone with respect, visit, try and learn their language, understand that they are people too, immerse Yourself in their culture, you will have an amazing time. If you do get some stomach upset from the food, like I did, it's not the food, it's your body just not being used to the different variety of food, spices, the mix of lots of drinks and over eating, it's never the food per say, it's always you and your body. Take pepto, Pepcid, gravol, etc or their is a local pharmacy across the street. If you complain about silly things like some things I read on trip advisor like my pillow was hard, or it was loud at night with music, or the coffee was cold, or the water was to wet lol find a bigger problem. If you go with your glass half full rather than half empty you will Have a great time and nothing will make your stay terrible. If all you see is problems, well good luck anywhere you go! I will definitely go back to the Sunscape! Great location to the town of Ixtapa which we enjoy walking into night and day. Go to Frank's bar if you are Canadian, Frank is from Canada and makes great food! We enjoy the markets to visit with people, again, I hear complaints of the people being aggressive as far as wanting to make a sale, they are making money for their families! If you don't want anything just find out how to say "no Thankyou, just looking" in Spanish, or do as me and my kids do, learn a few words and take the opportunity to learn more, again it's about the full experience, immerse yourself in it. For us we don't just want to be in the hotel the whole time we want to be out and see the country and people as well. We took a shuttle to Zihuatanejo, to Cinco de mayo street, more markets, fish markets etc then to the pier and took a shuttle back, very good! We travelled with West Jet so myself and my sister In law went to the 9:30am meeting the day after arrival, where the west jet rep, talked to us about all the different things you can do. Highly suggest anyone take the 40 minutes and do this for your info. Overall we had a fantastic trip! Kids club has a climbing wall, small waterslides, spray park, also a couple of waterslides for everyone to enjoy. Also The beach and the ocean are amazing, long stretch to walk. My family love going in the ocean to play in the big waves daily. Respect the ocean, it's the pacific and the hotel does a great job of putting up the flags to go in at your own risk. They are fun!! Ixtapa is a fave place of ours to visit!!
Highly recommend

Absolutely the best! Alicia in the Sun Club Lounge is fabulous, she remembered my husband’s allergies and advised him to the menu. Raul at the front desk was always available to assist. From the top down the staff is the best! We look forward to returning in 40 days!
