We went to Aston Kaanapali as a family of 4. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo booked through Maui Paradise Properties. We had an ocean facing balcony which was our favorite place to hang out. Morning coffee & sunset dinners. The pool was great. Small, but large enough to keep the kids busy. We enjoyed the tiki bar at the front pool. They made an excellent Mai Tai. The location was good. We could walk to other hotels, a grocery store, a few eateries. The beach was okay. If snorkeling is your thing, this is not your place. Next time we would choose to stay elsewhere. The snorkeling in front of Honua Kai or farther down that stretch was great.

I loved staying at this property! It was home away from home for a large multi generational group. We all had a blast! It was not over crowded, the beach views were stunning, and the sunsets!!! They were spectacular. The room was massive, and we had a kitchen and a washer and dryer. The people working here are so friendly and helpful. I want to go back already!!

We have enjoyed this hotel over the years as it's one of our go to resorts on the island to stay.. This one and the Pink hotel next to it. Last trip we went was very nice, quiet.. no screaming kids playing and splashing in the pool.. Nor were there locals using the pools like in the past.. Room- very nice with AC working well... Bed was comfortable and enjoyed sleeping there. This place is in between luxury and average for a hotel.. Grounds- very nice, clean, beautiful koi pond.. At night, watch out you don't step on the local frogs and snails that come out to roam around. We saw a frog that had been stepped on which was sad.. Restaurant- loved it.. Variety of food to choose from, breakfast pancakes were really good and you can have all the coconut syrup you want at no extra charge.. Parking- you gotta pay to park... around $12 per day... All in all, it's a fantastic hotel.. would stay here anytime!

We had a recent stay at this hotel with my son for two weeks, there are pros and cons to this property. We chose this property because of our length of stay and the affordability that we needed to stay on Maui for two weeks. The pros for this hotel is that it is in a decent location in between Whalers Village and Kapalua. There is a food truck lot next to the resort, and a grocery store and a few food shops across the street. We enjoyed this convenience. The housekeeping staff was very attentive and would come up to the room immediately if we needed fresh towels or more kitchen supplies such as dish soap or clothing detergent. We stayed in a two bedroom oceanview condo, which was spacious and pretty clean, except for some dirty knives that were put back in the knife block in the kitchen, and some of the bathroom drawers need to be wiped out as there was gunk left over from the previous guests. The carpet and furnishings are old looking, 1990s style, the carpet is woven dark green. Don't expect lovely modern furnishings and plush carpet, this is definitely not the hotel that offers that. There are two pools, both decent, however seating is very limited and you need to arrive first thing to get chairs. Also be aware there is no shade at the front pool on the ocean, there are no umbrellas whatsoever. There are a handful of wooden cabana chairs with a tent, that come with a fee and need to be reserved, that is the only shade you will find on that pool de So some of the major pros to this property are its location, its price, the housekeeping staff, the restaurant actually has pretty good food, and there is a water sports rental hut, and a couple stores on the property. My son loved that the fishing store is in the lobby, that was very cool and convenient for him. The person at the concierge desk was great and very helpful. Some cons to this property are the old furnishings, my particular unit had a large crack in the mirror door on my closet that no one had bothered to fix. There is nothing luxurious about these accommodations, but based on the price you shouldn't expect that. We had room 729, which was Oceanview but it was also in the very back of the property near the lush green trees that are behind the first pool. There are so many birds living in these trees at night you would think it was a bird sanctuary. The birds are so incredibly loud I needed a sound machine turned up full blast because they would wake me up every morning without fail at 5 AM, they are extremely loud, so be aware. Other cons are that the front desk staff are less than helpful, and seemed very annoyed with my phone calls. Like I mentioned there were dirty knives in my knife block in the kitchen, and the drawers needed to be wiped out. .Otherwise I would say the unit was cleaned appropriately. There are also many fees in addition to your base room rate, so be aware when it comes to the amenity fee, parking fee etc. There are never more than one or two bellmen working at one time, so you might have to wait quite a while for help with bags or groceries etc. There is no Shuttle at this property, so if you need to get anywhere you must have a car, they do not do airport transfers either. So you either need your own car, or use an Uber or go by foot. The beach is small, but nice. This is not a surfing beach so don't bother to rent a surfboard, there really are not any waves to ride. There is a constant current which can be calm at times and stronger at other times. It's definitely a beach that has OK snorkeling, we did see some turtles and some fish, but other beaches in the area are much better for snorkeling. Such as Black rock or Kapalua Bay are the places you would want to go to snorkel in the area. You could also try to fish on the beach, my son rented a kayak and went out a couple times and did catch a fish each time. All in all, this resort is perfectly good considering the price point, just don't expect anything five star, this is a three star hotel at best.
