misleading description of room views, not worth the price
Don P on May 29, 2026
The facilities are nice but they deliberately use deceptive practices in describing views from rooms and admit doing so when confronted about it. I would have considered a partial obstructed ocean view but not for that price. There are also a lot of fees. Any room cleaning is over $160.
Wont stay here again!

Bad experience from beginning of trip. Added to that, desk staff was rude. Not worth the money we paid. Stay someplace else!!
The Best Place to Stay in Kaanapali!

We have stayed a the Whaler five times now, and we have already booked to go again next year. The hotel is just beautiful, with awesome views of the ocean. We love having a little kitchen and a lanai to sit outside with a cup of coffee and play Scrabble. It is right next door to Whalers Village, which makes it most convenient for shopping and eating out at great restaurants, There is a beautiful beach right in front of the hotel, a nice pool, and a work-out room. The staff is always top notch and ready to help.
Deceptive marketing, and tough luck!

Be careful with booking an “Ocean View” room. This is the ocean view, attached from the living room. Management is aware that it is misleading and totally unwilling/unable to remedy that disappointment for its guests.

We always have a wonderful time at the The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach! We love to watch the sunset every night. It is an easy walk to all the stores in Whalers Village. All the people in the shops, restaurants, and the island have always been so friendly and helpful to us. We have gone every year in April for the past 4 years and will continue to do so. It's the perfect location. The rooms are beautiful and clean. I love that it is like being in your own home on vacation. The sounds of the waves at night is so peaceful you just fall asleep. See you at The Whaler next April!
