Good location on the beach and ocean

Plenty of restaurants and Starbucks within walking distance. Lots of free parking. Stock up on essentials when you leave the airport. Costco, Walmart, Whole Foods next to Airport. You are not gonna drive back since it takes about an hour from Kaanapali because of the debris removal in Lahaina. Loved sitting on the balcony watching the ocean waves. We rented a Studio Ocean View Premium and were not disappointed.
What’s wrong with people?

My wife and I have been coming here for several years now for a couple weeks in the spring. We are healthcare workers and look forward to a respite from the pressures of our professions. We have stayed in several residences in the Whaler in the past decade. We find the setting pleasant, tranquil, safe, warm and courteous. This year something new happened that really spoiled our view of the place. Anticipating that we would be spending an entire day on the lawn, I walked down early in the morning before the crowds and spread our towels on two of the lawn chairs. I left a couple of odds and ends with the chairs, clipped our towels, so they would not blow away, and made a second trip to the room for the remainder of our day’s necessities. When I returned, I had found that an older couple had taken three of the lounging chairs, moved them to the side of the building for their own use; one of them being a chair I just spread a towel and belongings on. Oddly, several feet away, there was an unoccupied identical chair that was left alone. Weirdly, throughout the remainder of the day, they were nowhere to be seen much of the day. The chairs were left unattended for hours at a time. You don’t typically see this degree of amorality, arrogance, and egocentrism in their generation. The German word, fremdschämen, springs to mind, as I am painfully, embarrassed for their sake. The following day they grabbed 3 chairs, left towels on them and I did not see them return the entire day. I’m speechless at this degree of selfishness. My normal 5 star for the Whaler down graded this trip to 4 due to diminished caliber of its tenants. Used to be comfortable, decent stay.
