Our stay at this hotel had both positives and areas for improvement, leading us to give it an overall neutral review. Starting with arrival, after more than 25 years of visiting the island, we were surprised by the lack of the usual “Aloha” spirit at check-in. The interaction felt notably cold—perhaps the least welcoming experience we’ve had on the islands. At check-in, we were given a reusable green bag with two water bottles, which was a thoughtful touch. However, both bottles were noticeably dented and had an expiration date of August 2025, which detracted from the gesture. We were also provided with wristbands to access our building, but no instructions on how to use them. After a long flight, having to return to the front desk multiple times for basic guidance was frustrating and could have been easily avoided with a brief explanation. The EV shuttle service is a nice amenity. However, when my spouse requested a ride to a nearby destination (less than three miles away), the driver questioned the location of within 3 miles rather than simply verifying it. As guests, we would expect the staff to assist rather than challenge such requests. In terms of food, there are some great nearby options. Kihei Cafe is convenient for breakfast. We especially enjoyed Hawaiian Moons, just a short distance away and accessible via the free EV transport. It offers excellent breakfast and lunch options, high-quality ingredients, and reasonable prices. It can get busy, but the wait is worthwhile and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The rooms themselves were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The long, saltwater lap pool was a highlight and a nice alternative to a traditional chlorine pool. The hotel’s location is another strong point. Situated in central Kihei, it provides easy access to many areas. We rented a Jeep, which made it convenient to visit Big Beach regularly, explore beyond it, and take day trips to Paia, Makawao, Kula, and even the Road to Hana—all highly recommended. The pool area is modest in size but sufficient. Happy hour from 3–5 pm is a nice touch, followed by live local music. The food, however, was average. Checkout was smooth and efficient, and a definite improvement over the initial check-in experience. If you want, I can make it sharper (more critical) or more upbeat depending on where you plan to post it.

A good hotel with quality rooms and staff and facilities

Mark_Bath_UK (Bath, United Kingdom) on Feb 18, 2026

Our room was comfortable, spacious and very clean. We even managed to get the coffee pod machine to work (efforts at other hotels have not been as successful). The bathroom also was spacious and the shower power adequate. All staff were very helpful with both check in and check out trouble free. The hotel has a cafe at the front of the property which is best for breakfast but a little restrictive for evening meals. The hotel operates a refillable water bottle scheme which works well. There are also free laundry facilities for customer use which we found very useful. The room finish and bedding seemed particularly high quality. All lifts were working and would only operate when a room key was scanned, for security. The room keys were in the form of waterproof bracelets - not something we've encountered before - but it worked well and the bracelets can be kept as souvenirs at the end of the stay. There are also swimming pools, hot tubs and other leisure facilities that we didn't use but they all looked inviting.

Definitely worth booking this hotel!

Gregory T on Feb 15, 2026

This hotel was simply amazing. We booked this hotel because it was price competitive and cheaper than most other 4 or 5 star properties by at least 30-40%. We stayed in the Kai tower. The room was new with a king size bed, couch, table, generous bathroom and shower. It had a balcony with a table and two chairs. Great room! We took advantage of the free shuttle, bikes and pool/beach towels. Happy Hour at the pool is worth it for the drinks and live music. The hotel is close to many different restaurants and shops. It is a five minute walk to one of three beaches. It is really close to an ABC store that has daily fresh coffee, meal and sushi and is way cheaper. The staff were great. Everyone was pleasant and happy to help. Overall we were pleasantly surprised and would book this hotel again!

Excellent hotel with many family friendly amenities

ilyawagner (Sacramento, California) on Feb 13, 2026

Great hotel with lots of family friendly amenities. We traveled with little kids and took full advantage of the free on site laundry. Kids loved the pools, there are several of them, including a very shallow one for the little ones. Hotel location is great - in the middle of Kihei and across the street from a beach. A lot of shops, restaurants, food trucks and beaches are within a walking distance, but the hotel also provides free bikes. Ample parking space and several EV charging stations that came in handy. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms in the new Kai tower are spacious and clean. We especially liked the shower with a detachable head, which made showering little kids a lot easier. Overall, great experience and highly recommended.
