Worst bang for your buck.

The Hilton Waikoloa is on beautiful grounds and unfortunately this is about all this hotel has to offer for its outrageously priced stay. Our family has been to Hawaii many times over the years and were excited to finally head back after a long overdue wait due to Covid. Unfortunately, after about day 2 we had questioned whether or not we wanted to head back home or not. To start, a nearly thousand dollar a night room has “3” restaurants to choose from, of which are all extremely overpriced, hit or miss for service and probably the worst food you’ll ever have on vacation. The rooms are are below average, the sheets were stained and the rooms are definitely not cleaned, let alone sanitized as promote everywhere. The hotel is a couple miles from any beach that you can swim at, luckily (your money isn’t a complete waste) they offer beautiful options for pools. On the contrary the pools are freezing and you will be nickel and dimed for any food or drinks you purchase for pure survival (yes, the food is SO bad by the end you’ll be eating just to survive). Don’t bother asking the front desk for assistance with anything, they will be less then helpful. For the Canadians who are needing a PCR test to enter back into the country, you will spend your life savings try to get one. Again, for a hotel of this price you at the very least would expect the front staff to be able to assist you in the nearest testing location. It was almost as if the staff were completely unaware that we are living in a global pandemic and the only people visiting this hotel were from the mainland. One morning we decided to go to a class put on by the hotel to make bracelets, it started promptly at 7:56 and any family that entered before the actual start time at 8:00am were greeted with the upmost friendly eye roll followed by a deep breathe and a silent walk to where they could sit. The cultural centre had no culture. I would like to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt that the poor service, horrible food and outrageous prices are due to Covid but at this point I think thats a terrible excuse for the service they DON’T provide. I am astonished that after our experience and multiple discussions with other guests, that this hotel remains a four star. I would not recommend.

This is not just “ Covid” affected

For a resort the size with only two restaurant choices a bar 2 coffee stations and a pool bar menu, no room service, when other hotels in the area are, was very lacking. The ocean towers section had no amenities besides the coffee station/cafe, no tables or chairs. Not sure what the $40 a day resort fee pays for because there’s very little to offer.
