Low Level Hilton in Hawaii masquerading as a resort

reifeb1 on Jun 24, 2022

Don't waste your time here. We tried it because we used points and the pictures of the hotel looked great. The pictures are deceiving to say the least. The pools are old and run down and look like they would be at a Super 8 motel along the highway. The beaches are not something you would want to hang out as a family, it is part of a state park and there are no beach chairs. The rooms are old and musty, beds have not been upgraded over the last 20 years and everything is run down with the exception of the lobby. Staff treats Hilton Diamond members like any other guest. Don't think your loyalty is going to be rewarded here. Do your research and chose another hotel. Don't waste your points or your money here!

Avoid like the plague

JB1989 (Davis, CA) on Jun 20, 2022

Hilton should be utterly ashamed to call this one of their properties. The place is seriously run down and in need of a major renovation. The only reason we gave it a shot was because we had points to use. Spending over $400.00 a night here? You’ve got to be kidding. The “water feature” which is supposed to run through the hotel is bone dry. No water at all. If you are lucky enough to get room 1132 you will find the door SLAMS every time you leave. Toilets run all night, super loud a/c, tiny pools, outdated old carpeting, cottage cheese ceilings, you get the picture. Avoid this place.

Paid for a garden view room which was a frog pond and cesspool.

925jodys (Lancaster, New York) on Jun 09, 2022

We paid over $400 a night to stay at this hotel in Hawaii. We were so excited because it was an oceanfront hotel and was supposed to have beautiful gardens. When we arrived we were welcomed very kindly. When we went to our room we were shocked to look out of our window to see our garden view and we saw a pond being pumped out and full of croaking toads!! The croaking lasted until dawn when the roosters took over!! It was unlike any other Hilton we have ever been to. We were supposed to be given two free bottles of water a day and on two of the days, the water was not in our room. When we asked for the water the clerk was extremely rude and pretty much accused us of lying!! I was so angry after the first day and had my husband ask the second day. He was treated the exact same way. We paid over $3000 dollars for seven nights and felt like we were trash! A terrible experience!!!

Great location. Needs maintenance. LOUD AC.

macjenna (San Diego, California) on Jun 05, 2022

I have a conflicting opinion. It needs maintenance. Badly. It's like the red headed step child of "resorts". Because it's not a resort and it's trying to be. It's a hotel in Hawaii with two pools near a public beach, and an outside TiKi bar with decent food. It DESPERATELY needs a coffee sales cart in the lobby from 5-11 AM. Staff was friendly - they did forget to deliver water to our room Cats and roosters plentiful LOL Open air lobby is stunning Mamahunes - Lunch and dinner restaurant-- strong MaiTais, great pork nachos and GET the giant fruit salad. We took half of it back to our cottage for breakfast the next day. Bartender way overworked and prob under paid but charming and fast. We were in a cottage facing the grassy area of Lydgate Park. The beach here was incredible. And easy to get to. AC in the bedroom was SO LOUD and OLD it kept us awake. And my hubby can sleep through just about everything. A Keurig coffee maker in the room - ew. And fake half and half was all over the hotel. We resorted to milk in the restaurant. Restaurant breakfast was okay. Great service. Meh coffee on Hawaii. Old bacon. Roosters at 4 AM and those chickens are pushy. Room- so odd. Plenty of space. New windows and floors. New baseboards and paint. No bugs. OLD AC. Musty smell in room. Nice shower - a bit of mold here. Room darkening curtains. Weird purple wall in bathroom. Not enough places to hang towels. When you start to really look you can see the place needs structural overhauls in some places. Not sure we'd be back but the location to the airport and town makes it the Maybe.

Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay

tiffanyg00dman (San Diego, California) on Jun 01, 2022

Great property, next to an amazing beach/park area that has a bike path. Excellent location, 10minutes from the airport, north and south side of island, pool and bar overlooking ocean. Perfect for sunrise walks on the beach! Good for couples and families with older children. Dining open for breakfast (great food!) and tiki bar was open at noon, food available at 4pm. Only disappointment was the fire show, food was terrible and you can see the fire show for free from the tiki bar grass patio...not worth the $100 per person. Everything else was amazing!
