Lovely place to stay! Has so much fun at the pools, beach, sky bar and restaurants! Loved Styx and regatta buffet. I’m a vegan and found plenty of options. The resort is a beautiful! Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely Short Bahama getaway

Lisa B (Yorktown Heights, New York) on Jul 02, 2022

We enjoyed a very quick getaway with friends. Pros: Clean, beautiful spa & gym, multiple pools (cabanas available to rent), large casino, multiple food and bar choices. (Takeaway, sit down, breakfast buffet). We at at the higher end restaurants and were mostly pleased. Complimentary tea, water and coffee in room. Cons: A short beach from access point to the water edge, so chairs were lined up so closely you couldn't even walk in between (lack of space and privacy), limited number of chairs and umbrellas at the pool. Everything is a la carte and pricy. I found it to be a bit expensive ($38 breakfast buffet, does not include specialty coffees or alcoholic beverages $6 for a bottle of water by the pool or beach). Checkin and checkout get crowded very quickly, it can e a time waster. Tips: 1- a taxi from the airport is about $35 and readily available 2-check your bill in person the day before leaving in case an adjustments are needed 3-take the elevator to the 7th floor for easy access to the gym, spa, and beach/pool 4- a 15% service charge is added to every food/drink bill that is shared by staff, anything additional will go directly to your server.

Everything at your fingertips

My husband and I checked into checked into the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Hyatt on June 27th. We were warmly greeted by the bellman who directed us to the front desk. We arrived earlier than the check in time and was allowed to use the property until our room was ready. The lovely Keishann graciously assisted us. The hospitality she displayed was warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful. We chose the lake view and had the pleasure of watching the lighted dancing fountains every night. With plenty to do such as the flemingo walk, kayaking, swimming in one of your multiple pools, relaxing on the beach, enjoying the water park, visiting the casino, shopping, dining, and dancing; just to name a few, we did not feel the need to leave the property. We also encountered a "gem" at The Pizza Lab. Kevin was Amazing! His ability to make us feel appreciated was astounding. He stated that we would love The Pizza Lab and he was right. We found ourselves going there and requesting to sit wherever Kevin was. Justin (bartender) at the Sugar Factory is a keeper. He immediately greeted us and graciously described items from the menu to assist with our choices. His attentiveness; checking back frequently to ensure we were happy, did not go unnoticed. My only negative is the staff, besides the mentioned, were not as welcoming. As we walked the property; passing multiple staff, we always had to acknowledge them first. Without the warmth of your culture it made us feel like we were in Vegas. With such a beautiful property, it lacked the warmth of being appreciated for choosing Baha Mar. At checkout, we had a charge from the Sky Bar added to our bill; which we never visited. Keishann and team gladly had it removed and adjust our bill. Your Concierge and Front Desk staff is top notch!! We will definitely return to your lovely paradise!

Paradise Personified

First, it’s expensive. Very, very expensive. Settle that in your wallet (ha) and then get ready to be wowed! There are so many photo worthy backgrounds that don’t even need a human in the picture because it’s so gorgeous. The resort is absolutely stunning! It was a vacation to remember. We visited in 2019 and came back because it was a wonderful trip. When we went to book and saw the water park we freaked out! It’s safe and very friendly as well. My husband and I could sit on the beach while my girls swam in the pools. We could relax somewhere in Baha Bay (water park) and they could run around on water slides. It was nice to be able to relax while they had a ball doing fun things. The restaurants were either good or great. Cleo - my word! Do NOT miss a chance to dine there. And whether or not you have kids visit the Sugar Factory for great burgers and super fun desserts. Shuang Ba was good but we were not wowed. The side of vegetable fried rice was $30. I need to be wowed for that. It and Cinko made us feel like we were just paying to pay. We didn’t feel the food “returned the flavor.” Lol! Same with Costa. Good food but not memorable. Marcus for brunch is a must as is eating at Da’poke Bowl. And be sure not to miss Umami for a fantastic burger. Drinks across the board are very weak and go for $15 and up. Fiji water is $12/bottle. Beer was $8-$12 for Sands. Yes same beer, same size, price varied on resort. The Explorer’s Club (babysitting service) was our only negative about the resort. We booked 3 different nights for 2 kids (10/11). There is nothing for kids to do in the evenings pool/beach/baha bay all close at 6 and 7 p.m. Kids were able to hang out with us at the Jazz Bar. Fine but not ideal. There were lots of kids hanging out so don’t feel you’re the only one. Which brings me back to the Kids Club. It’s such a missed opportunity. It’s very expensive and doesn’t offer what is advertised. My girls are told to make the most of things and we will handle issues later. When we got them the first thing they asked was why didn’t XYZ happen? They picked out their 3 nights in April for a June trip so anticipation was high. End result, no crafts (coloring a paper doesn’t constitute a craft, nor does providing a chintzy button), some games and a movie. They were expecting something amazing like they had experienced at the pools and water parks. It was definitely a letdown. For a little play time and a movie the cost should be considerably lower and I’m sure more would visit. It was $160 a night for 2 kids. Just too much to pay for what felt like a babysitter. Would be awesome if Baha Mar offered something for tweens, teens and younger adults in the evening so that both parents & kids could continue the fun. Similar to what cruises offer. Gaga ball, games, nighttime beach volleyball… fun stuff that doesn’t cost anything after initial purchase and would be cost effective for families to sign up for. Even an arcade room which would likely result in costing parents more but making families as a whole happy. Positive note, spoke with Hyatt management (Explorer staff were rude) about the experience and in true Hyatt fashion it was handled. And that’s why we’ve been with Hyatt for so many years! I can’t end on a sour note. That was one poor experience amongst a week of heaven. The Aviary, the turtle races, flamingo parade, & Sanctuary (touch stingray and turtles) are just some of the activities you can experience throughout your stay. There are several pools and my girls named them and made each an experience! The waterfall pool, the aquarium pool, and more! Such fun! The beach was clean and the workers will provide you with an umbrella (they told us they don’t work if it’s raining - even a light drizzle) and walk through offering food and drink service. In Baha Bay, it was awesome having a water park dedicated to the resort! The lines were short, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and the whole family had loads of fun on all the slides, lazy river, surf zone and more. With appropriate caution, we often left our stuff (beach bags, phones, etc.) in one spot and ran around to all the other activities. It was all good. Also, while there, be sure to purchase the Baha Bay acrylic cup from The Market and get unlimited free drink refills. Beach towels are free & plentiful and with many pools you can almost always find loungers. If just a towel is on it toss and make your own! We absolutely loved this vacation! There were far, far more positives than any issues we incurred. Check in/out is super slow so be patient there. But once you’re set try to soak it ALL in!!!
