Hidden gems here

Marie G (Los Angeles, California) on Apr 30, 2026

We traded our timeshare for Shadow Ridge, and are so happy we did. Such a good resort -- aquafit every morning, a few adult-type games (mixology, bingo, trivia) and lots for kids to do, also. Great pool areas (all 3+), and the drinks were reasonable (we took advantage of the "drink of the day" for lower prices). Wish they had offered the breakfast option (at the bars) on one or two of the weekdays, also. This was a terrific Sat/Sun breakfast, and we were there all week. Also, take advantage of The Bunker, the golf snack shack. Breakfast plus lunch sandwiches at the lowest prices on the property. Ask at the front desk.

Well past its prime … if it had one.

DurangoJim (Durango, Colorado) on Mar 16, 2026

Tired and worn out. I’m not sure it ever had a prime. Entry to the room past a sprawling parking lot (at least the spaces are covered) via outdoor covered walkway - dusty, dirty, cracked stucco and horrid white fluorescent lamps. This room was ground hour with a supposed golf course view - if you consider gravel, blocking trees and a huge industrial yard lamp view. Broken lamps, pillows made of socks. I’ll give the check in desk kudos - they comped the crazy parking fee and were very nice. Suitable for mom, dad and a van full of kids to scream their hearts out at the pool. Looking for a nice, quiet, small scale place to rest? Stay away. Good grief Marriott get out of this property.

Palm Desert / Shadow Ridge is still our favorite place to visit

Michael V (Saint Louis, Missouri) on Feb 28, 2026

Palm Desert / Shadow Ridge is still our favorite place to visit - - - - - - - - February, 2026 Visit We've visited for 25+ years and this was our first time to stay in The Enclaves (slightly newer, further back in the property). We visited Palm Desert to see our St. Louis CITY Soccer Club (SC) play Austin in pre-season MLS soccer at the Coachella Valley Invitational Tournament. This was a late-planned trip, and my wonderful wife was still able to pull off getting us into our favorite Marriott Vacation Club property - Shadow Ridge in Palm Desert. Every trip before this one we have stayed in the same building near the entrance; this was our first time staying in The Enclaves, the buildings located further back in the property, the ones with a more noticeable adobe-like southwestern motif. Being only three of us, we stayed in the studio, which is a one-bedroom with a pull-our sofa; then kitchen has counter space, but less than the master suite (no island / no wrap-around counter), and place settings for four; there is a small dishwasher. There is a coffee machine with a carafe (a pot at a time not a cup at a time). The room is laid out well and has good decorations. Our room happened to face south, so we could get some sun on the patio. We were also next to the Snakebites pool and enjoyed sun there - pool, cornhole, table tennis / ping-pong, and more. We have been visiting Shadow Ridge more often the past couple years, and that is a good thing, for doses of vitamin D from the sun, and from the relaxation we always feel when we are there. On this trip, I did work a couple days, too, and the Business Center in the lobby has much counter space and power plugs that could support 3-5 people working in there; though conf calls would be a noise challenge in such a setup; I was in there solo and was quite productive. See you soon, Shadow Ridge! ----- ----- -----

Nice property, poor response when an issue arose

Chantel C on Jan 30, 2026

I stayed at this property on and off for about 38 days while taking care of my father’s affairs. Overall, I truly enjoyed the stay — the grounds were nice, the accommodations were comfortable, and it was a good place to be during a difficult time. Unfortunately, toward the end of my stay I had a health and safety concern. What was most upsetting was not the concern itself, but how it was handled afterward. I reported the issue, submitted a written complaint, and was told management would follow up. No one ever contacted me. There was no response, no explanation, and no indication that the concern was addressed. Given the length of my stay and the circumstances I was there under, the lack of care or communication was very disappointing. I’m sharing this so future guests are aware — the property itself was enjoyable, but follow-through and responsiveness when an issue arises were lacking.

It's not a hotel

William M on Nov 04, 2025

Took my son for a birthday golf vacation week. Warning: if you think this is a hotel . . . wrong. It's some sort of vacation time share. The room was about 10' x 20' two square holes in the wall under the TV, no room service, a peculiar 'foody' smell and worst of all, no amenities. Want morning coffee? - drive. One restaurant, a pizza shop, open evenings only. When I complained, response was, well, 'we have better rooms had you said something' and 'we're not a hotel you know.' No I didn't.
