25 years since first visit and still amazing!

Jodie T (San Diego, California) on May 30, 2026

I have been a guest and a friend of the resort for 25 years and continue to come back with friends, family and on this trip i came alone. I feel comfortable, safe and happy even being alone here because even if you dont travel with anyone the staff make you feel like you are family! The animacion team are fantastic and work hard tirelessly to provide a fun environment. The members that stand out for me on this trip are Fernanda (she is such a warm and kind person and always asks guest how they are doing and if she can help do anything for them, she has become a great friend over the last few visits she is also a superb dancer. Her english is great and she does a great job of the MC. Carlos is a great dancer too and also started doing some MC while i was on this trip. He studied hard to make sure his english was perfect in the circus show and his first mc was a huge success, it was endearing to see such attention to detail and care for his job. One note about the MC by the pool, there were a few times they only made announcements in spanish, it doesnt bother me because i understood it and the guests during this season are predominantly spanish speaking anyway, but it may present a problem for different seasons when guests from USA and Canada are there. Bryan, Gigi, Andy, Cesar, Alexis, Rosario, and Sergio Daniel Were also some of the animators that stood out and made me feel very welcome on this particular visit. This team has a great manager, Leo who seems to have a good level of management of his team! My only suggestion for the animacion team is i would love to see the whole team in the morning and after lunch like in past years. Not just on Saturdays at the pool party. Even if just to be introduced and perform the house song/dance by the pool to wake all of the guests up in the morning and after lunch and start the afternoon activities. It helps the guests to remember more names but also shows more of a team spirit to see everyone together. I would like to see more of the old school activities like dance classes by the pool, staff vs guest contest, Mr & Mrs Marival, dancing with the stars. The new performance group that do the circus style performance is great, i particularly liked the circus show and the fire show on the beach. Rodrigo and Alice were fantastic and the lady that does the aerial performance by the pool is superb im sorry i forgot her name. The mexican fiesta was wonderful and remains my favorite evening every time! On this night the food is great, the mariachi and folkloric dancing is amazing and the atmosphere feels very authentic. I would love to see more of the vendors on the mexican night as i didnt get a chance to buy the mexican candy. In the night club and at the pool party, the DJs are amazing, Especially Irving, such a talented Dj! Also Arturo is very good and works hard Other notable staff members that made me feel very welcome are Maria in piazeta, Edgar in Mai Tai, Jacob at front desk, Hugo, Alejandra & Kevin from the bars. There is also a security man from colombia, i cant remember his name but he was always there very early in the morning by the pool when i was having my coffee and we had some great conversation about travel to colombia and cuba. Please thank him for his kindness and i apologize i cant remember his name. The quality of food in the buffet for dinner seems to have gone up a little bit but i would still love to see more fresh items like ceviche and guacamole and tacos that are authentic in mexico for dinner. I did enjoy the ceviche in the Bamba restaurant for lunch. I had the chance to eat in the new silk restaurant twice and invited two of the animators and a friend from outside on one occasion, our waiter Martin was very attentive. The food in this restaurant was very good and i recommend the sushi and the cucumber salad. Jorge, Pedro and David at bell boy service are always so welcoming and i appreciate their friendship and warm welcome over the years. The live music in the evenings at the piazeta stage was a very nice addition and the timing is perfect as you have a cocktail before heading to the theatre for the nightly show. This place and the various teams within are all lead by Daphne who has built the resort to the incredible success it has become and it has been a pleasure to watch the journey over the last 25 years. As always, im looking forward to planning my next trip in a few months and ill miss everyone until i am back.

Wonderful resort with an amazing staff !

Our stay at Marival Emotions was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. The resort had a lively and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for both families and couples looking to relax and have fun. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the beach access made every day feel like a dream vacation. One of the highlights was the variety of food options available throughout the resort. Every restaurant offered something different, and the staff always made us feel appreciated and taken care of. The entertainment team also did an amazing job keeping guests engaged with activities during the day and fun shows at night.

Management Issues

Walter G (Whitehorse, Canada) on May 19, 2026

delayed my review hoping to get a response from Marival Emotions management to an e-mail I sent last week - needless to say, none received. 1. Travelled with my wife, son and his family April 16 - 23, 2026. 2. First - the facility, generally the staff, and the food was all very good - no issues there (except maybe a slight one for the open bathroom concept). If this was all - it would be a 4 star review. 3. Check-in. We had originally booked through Expedia but were offered a discount for the Gran Fondo race which was our purpose in coming down. So cancelled Expedia and booked direct into a Club Tower room (Grand not offered on their website) for my wife and myself. At check-in discovered our son had booked Grand room and we wanted to be as near as possible. The desk clerk said extra 500 pesos per night. Through Expedia I knew the Grand and Club had practically identical rooms, and costs were the same; her justification was Grand have larger rooms - NOPE! But useless to argue, we changed anyway (so much for the savings offered by them originally). She asked if we wanted king or two queen beds - opted for queen bc grandkids might spend a night. She did know we wanted close rooms but found out we were same floor (still had steps to negotiate) but opposite ends/wings of hotel in Grand - and with two DOUBLE beds. Not acceptable! I got another desk clerk - much more knowledgable and cooperative - and he got us into a room adjacent to my son, with a king bed; only issue it was not available until the next day - totally acceptable! He also confirmed the hotel had no queen beds, we had the opportunity to advise the previous desk clerk within a couple days. Seeing as rooms were identical, I still expect (not really but this is not fair or ethical practise for extra charge) a 3,500 peso refund. The extra is in way justified! 4. Check-out. My wife and I are not regular resort all in-clusive users so are not familiar with all the procedures and nuances. Check out time was 11:00 AM and my wife and I emptied the room and proceeded to the lobby and checked out just before that time. The desk clerk tried to tell me something about 12 noon and extra charge and etcetc but did tell me lobby was free. I gave him our room keys and towel cards and told him we were done with the room and would wait in the lobby for our airport ride (1:30 PM). Nothing else said. Close to 1:30 I noticed guests were receiving receipts and having wrist bands removed. The desk clerk took my wrist band but said no receipt until my wife turned in hers. Huhhh! My wife's wrists are swollen and band kept falling off. It fell off somewhere within the property but no one ever challenged her on why she did not have one. To get the receipt I apparently initialed a clause that said we would pay over 500 pesos for a lost wrist band (rushed - sign here, initial there etc... did not know I needed a lawyer). Again - huhhh! No pay, no band, no receipt! How is a piece of plastic worth that much - why the exorbitant charge? They did offer to reduce charge - but we left without the receipt! 5. Minors. My son booked his room for two adults and two children and gave ages as well. The hotel quoted him a price based on these details and he accepted. Only to find out from the desk clerk that the quote did not include the minors. So he had to pay extra! How is this fair or even ethical? Again, no recourse. It is fully expected that a quote received based on certain information will be honoured. I guess not by Marival Emotions. 6. Activities. We checked in on a Thursday. On Tuesday we noticed stage, decoration, and dining set up on the property. We later found out this was for the 'theme' night. We could not attend as we had reservations for the Asia restaurant. The next day my wife and I are having drinks in the lobby bar when we noticed another set up being prepared. The bartender told us this was for a wine tasting event. Again - no knowledge of this happening. How many other events did we miss? The hotel MUST do a better job of advising guests - whether by app, e-mail, pamphlets, signage, etc - of what is happening and when and where. There were also pool exercises etc, and there may have been beach activities as well. 7. If not for the front desk - would be a 4 star review (still an issue with entertainment/event notifications).

Want to come back!:)

Shawna W on May 15, 2026

I had an incredible stay at Marival Emotions. Usually, I have a hard time waking up early…. But not here! Each morning I grabbed a coffee from the lobby and headed to the beach before 9:00. After coffee I Started the day with yoga which was amazing. The instructor Erin was so great. She really knew how to wake up the body in a relaxing but energizing way. I go to a lot of yoga classes and this was top notch! I even met friends from the class because we all loved it so much we came back each morning:) I believe the company she is with is NRG2GO. I’d highly recommend checking these classes out! After yoga I’d head right to the pool for a swim. The adult only pool is bliss in the morning. The flowers and vegetation which surround you is stunning. I’ll miss this morning routine so much! I’m a huge Water fan so there was no shortage of water activities. I spent all day either swimming in the ocean, checking out all the pools, doing some boogie boarding, or going for many walks along the beach. Honestly, at sunset the beach is heaven. I water paint and had so much inspiration from the stunning backdrop of this resort. Oh, did I mention the food! By far the best resort food I’ve ever had. You have to try the Asian restaurant Silk. The pad tai and sushi. Holy yum! The fish here was always perfect. Oh! One night there was a huge party and they literally made the quesadilla wraps right on the pool deck fresh. It was some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Finally the staff. They were all so accommodating and friendly. Always saying good morning and making sure we had everything we needed. Leo and Javier at the beach club always made me feel so welcome everyday and seemed to know what I wanted even before I did!:) Cruz at the club was so attentive to keeping the sun away and making sure we were as comfortable as possible. Joel and Martin at Silk knew the menu so well to recommend the perfect options for us. I honestly felt spoiled for the first time in my life. If you want a vacation where you feel like it’s 100 percent ok to let go and relax and do you……I’d highly recommend Marival! Being a member/VIP was a great call for us:) This was a vacation I’ll never forget. Already planning on how/when to get back:)

Amazing emotions !

erinadlakha (halifax) on May 15, 2026

I had such a great time at Marival Emotions. My favourite way to start the day was yoga on the beach with Erin from NRG2GO. These were yoga studio quality classes! Not at all what you’d expect at a resort. Then to go to the Mamba for breakfast (avocado toast and eggs or heuvo rancheros, green juice, coffee). All the servers are lovely, especially Xochitl and Gabriela. Loved the Mai Tai beach club, Leo and Javier are amazing servers and Cruz always made sure the umbrella was in the right position as the sun moved through the day. Get the nachos. A bonus was the day Rosario and her male coworker (I’m sorry I forget his name!) came by with cucumbers and cold towels for the face. So luxury! Silk was my favourite à la cart - the pad Thai, sushi and tuna were so good! And servers Martin and Joel were so attentive. Would definitely come back! Being a member/VIP is a must !
