Our first trip to the Occidental Nuevo Vallarta was wonderful and we plan to return. The all-inclusive offering was also a first for us and it allows you to try new types of food and drink which is a lot of fun. The staff is friendly, helpful and you can tell they have been well-trained and want to make sure each guest has an amazing time. Here’s to hoping Nestor is the person who greets you when you arrive. He made us feel at home immediately, walked us to check-in when he learned it was our first visit, and also took care of our luggage when we checked out but had time for lunch before departing.

The whole resort has stairs going EVERWHERE! There are ramps going into or out of restaurants, restrooms existing of 18 inches to 25 feet. The short ones have no markings and all of a sudden the hallway drops out on you. ALL the staff are excellent Ricardo and Ava at entertainment, Armando bell captain, Gabriele at concierge desk., Maria and Yvette at Lobby bar. The food was excellent. The ONLY bar open after 7 PM is the lobby bar and when you get a group, convention or wedding which both happened more than once during our 3 week stay, the noise level is out the roof. People who have decibel apps on their watches or phones said the decibels are too high and could be dangerous to your hearing. The bathrooms by the pool are MARBLE floors (go figure) and when wet and sunscreen oil is more slippery than a skating rink. My husband fell and has 7 fractured ribs with more than one fracture on each rib. Went to onsite doctors (who was excellent) and the manager showed up to make sure to say there are signs that say slippery (duh), to make sure his and the hotels ass is covered.

Marisol and Toño are lovely. They are always so sweet and nice. Great service and very kind people. We love the breakfast and the service. Will definitely come back!

We had an absolutely fabulous week at the Occidenatl Nuevo Vallarta! Great food (for the most part), excellent drinks and great service. We never waited for a table at the buffet, and we're able to get into all the a la carte restaurants we wanted. Our least favorite was the Mexican for sure, food and service were definitely lacking that night...but Mexican night at the buffet made up for it! The Japanese tapanyaki was excellent...food and service were 5 star for sure! The room was very spacious and had everything we needed including a super comfy bed! Boogie boarding in the waves was a lot of fun, but mostly we just lounged at the edge of the pool reading, we never had a problem getting our favorite pool chairs with getting up at 8:00. The chair game exists, but not crazy here...we usually had our pick at 8:00! Huge shout out to Missael at the main pool...he never let our cups go dry and got us hooked on some new favorites (Cantarito with passion fruit)!! Would definitely not hesitate to go back!!

Royal level was definitely the way to go. The benefit outways the extra cost. Being able to book ala carte every night was great.
