Wonderful time!

We had a great time with no issues or problems. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and updated with comfortable bed. The food and beverages were always good. The beach and views were amazing! This resort was better than expected. It's a great place for all ages and families. We will be back!!!

Nice resort, decent food, great pool, weak service

The resort was nicely laid out and maintained. Food selection was Ok but not as good as other resorts in the area, or consistent - some days had great choices, others were weak. We were often directed to the second floor buffet since the first floor buffet was full. Buffet service was weak - took a very long time to get a glass of water or coffee; several times, ordered drinks never arrived. The elevator by our 4th-floor room worked about half the time. The Junior Suite offers minimal bathroom privacy - the entire room can see you when you walk out of the shower. Hot tubs on every balcony - I saw none in use. Room cleaning was hit-or-miss. Overall, having been to other resorts in Punta Cana, I would not return to this one

Very poor cleanliness and quality of food

Recommend only for short stays that dont look around too much. Its a nice and fun place, but not if you are looking for quality food, quality hygiene & cleaning and friendly service.

Getting a refund from the Barcelo Bavaro Palace

During our check-in process on December 30 2024, the hotel representative asked for our credit card that was used to make the reservation and to make a final OK payment, which was 50% of the whole amount. That card was closed a long time ago. So, we had to make a full payment using a different card. The hotel representative stated that the refund would be issued to the new card that we used to make full payment during our check-in. After our numerous visits to the reception desk and numerous assurances from the hotel representatives the refund was still issued to the card that does not exist. After multiple visits to the reception desk and a huge amount of time we spent talking to hotel representatives the refund is still not issued to the card that we used to make a full payment during our check-in. Instead of enjoying our vacation time on the beach we had to spend all that time talking to resort representatives and the issue is not still resolved.

Excellent Resort

We just returned last month from a 10 day trip to the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. We lost count of the number of trips to this resort but it was at least 30 since the airport first opened in the 1980’s. We tried a number of other resorts in the Caribbean but we always come back to Barcelo. It is great value for the money. The hotel sits directly on an expansive beautiful sandy beach that provides many chaise lounges providing shade under palm trees. Of course, areas near the bars can be a bit more crowded but walking a few feet you find wonderful private areas. This year was the first time that we booked our package with Costco. The biggest advantages include the price, the rebate and the transportation arrangements to and from the resort and the airport. After we collected our luggage, we went to the Costco rep and were immediately taken to our bus and then directly to the resort. No waiting for other passengers or stops to other resorts. Same service on the return to the airport. When we arrived at the resort, we were registered in the Premium Lounge while sitting and enjoying a Margarita and a beer. Our dinner reservation for the a la carte restaurants were pre-booked by Julay Mercedes, Premium Supervisor, through email exchanges prior to our arrival. She also booked cabanas for us at the adult pool. She is not only extremely efficient but also very personable and professional and takes our vacations from wonderful to fantastic. We also had the pleasure of meeting the Premium Level Manager, Gertrudis Puig, who surrounds himself with a very capable team. As others have mentioned, the resort is very large. It has something for everyone. If one chooses to walk around the resort, it creates an opportunity to work up an appetite to enjoy delicious food in the a la carte restaurants, room service, or the buffets. We spent a lot of our time enjoying the cabanas at the adult pool. The bar and other services there are capably managed by Juan and Julie. We enjoyed the resort so much that we booked another 10 day trip for later this month. Belinda and Tom from Nova Scotia, Canada
