Need to control mosquitos in the room. They attacked us the entire stay. Couldn't sleep at night and many bites all over.

Our family took a trip to Barcelo Bavaro at the end of April 2026 during spring break. We were given a complimentary upgrade after booking our trip through Expedia. This upgrade included a personal concierge as well as daily use of the spa’s hydrotherapy. This included a hot/cold plunge, sauna, steam room, and access to the outdoor infinity pool. This upgrade was a surprise and helped to make the trip extra special. Our personal concierge, Carlos, was in contact with me about a week before we arrived and took care of our dinner reservations for each night. He also offered to help get us into a section of the resort that was closer to the beach, pool, and restaurants for an upgrade fee that we negotiated. Carlos met us upon arrival and made the check in process relatively smooth. During our week long stay, we spend most of our days at the beach, occasionally switching to the pool (rough life, I know) and afternoons were mainly spent at the spa. In the evenings our family got dressed up and enjoyed dinner at their restaurants. The restaurants were overall pretty good and the service at most were excellent. We had trouble one night at the Santa Fe Steakhouse where it took us over an hour to get our food. Other than that, our family was very satisfied with the restaurants. For breakfast we did the buffet and though there were a lot of options, I had a hard time finding anything that I liked. Due to this we decided to go to Striker’s Sports Bar for lunch and preferred this option over the buffet. My wife and I traveled with our two daughters ages 16 and 18 and we booked two separate rooms for our stay. We stayed in the junior suite and really liked the rooms. The rooms definitely had some wear and tear but it didn’t bother us at all. The rooms were cleaned daily and we noticed that if we needed a restock of the fridge in our room we left a note(and a tip). We were excited to have a jacuzzi on our balcony but we only used it once. Great feature but so many other things to do. The beach was clean and lifeguards weee on duty. I spent hours each day floating in that beautiful water and watching the birds overhead and an occasional sea turtle pop up around me for a breath of air before sinking back underwater. There was never an issue of finding lounge chairs for the four of us and there really wasn’t a bad spot. On our last morning we did get up and enjoy a beautiful sunrise and swim which was a perfect ending to our stay. The pool was clean and wasn’t terribly crowded. We swam up to the pool bar and got some drinks without any wait. It seemed to be more crowded around the pool area and getting lounge chairs there seems to be a bit more difficult for us. There was only one day we had trouble finding lounge chairs at the pool and out of nowhere a staff member saw us looking for someplace to sit and he went and got us four lounge chairs chairs from the beach and brought them to the pool for us. I honestly felt bad that I didn’t have money on me to tip this gentleman. He deserved it! The nightlife was fun at the resort. After dinner our family walked through the shops and checked out the nightly entertainment at the theatre. We also enjoyed stopping at the coffee, cigar and rum shop where we would get some sweet tears and enjoy them outside on one of the couches. My daughter and I threw a quick $20 in a slot machine at Casino Barcelo without much luck…?? Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time together at Barcelo Bavaro and would highly recommend it to others. the place and the beach are beautiful, too much distance to the restaurants. You could provide golf cart transportation for seniors, like they do at Occidental Royal Club

This place is really great the people that work there are first class from the gardeners all the way up to the managers they are simply fantastic. We go twice a year and they always exceed my expectations. The food is great, the drinks, golf course just great I cannot say enough about this place. I see the negative reviews left by others and i cannot believe what I am reading, as its totally opposite to my experience . I will be back In November thanks to all at this great resort.

We have traveled to several resorts in this area this was by far the least accommodating resort. The staff seemed disinterested in people in general and acted as though you were a burden even at the smallest requests. Entertainment was low and not very welcoming. The kids were excited to do karaoke and were told several nights that it would happen the following night and it never did. The facility was ok but not very colorful. Water sports were advertised as available all day which was not accurate. Despite upgrading to premium, and paying a lot for it, the perks, including a room upgrade were non existent.
